Well filling out the app and then I'm going to make photocopies. I plan to hand them into the managers and introduce my self to stand out. Wish me luck.
Can't wait. I love to make money.
Then you're applying at the wrong place. Enjoy being cycled out before they have to give you a raise, or if you don't sell enough subs in the first month.

Oh, I get it. You can't get a real job because you'll fail the piss test. I hope you like your parents basement, you're going to be there for a long time.

Oh snaps!

I've worked there before, it sucks. Pushing game cards and pre orders is your main goal. And if you really "love to make money" find a different job cuz it won't happen there.

You should probably spend less time posing in front of the mirror/looking like a douche (guido = really, you're name fits) and more time finding a real job...

Well when EB was their own company, I worked for them in college. It was way better than most non-degree jobs. You sit around and talk about games for most of the day. As for pushing preorders, it was requested but it didn't matter either way. In the four years I worked with them, we only had one person from our staff get fired; the rest stayed there, the whole time I was there. The pay was better than the previous jobs I had at time. Mix in the fact that my store usually tore up competitions so we got lots of free merchandise from corporate/my manager.
get ready for minimum wage!!!! you only get 15% off games too, gamestop.com offers better deals then that!
EB used to pay a little over mininum wage (at time min wage was 5.25, i got 8.25). Yes you only get 15% but you get first dibs at any traded in title i.e. rare games, mint new releases, etc as well as all the penny guides you want.

Does gamestop give bonuses for upselling? Like 10 cents for every pre order you sell out. 5 cents for every edge card sign up?

Or is your bonus more hours and being able to keep your job without being fired?

I can't wait to sell preorders and edge cards. I can read people and I know all the different customers. I'll sell shovelware to kids and old people. I'll sell rich people pre orders to games they don't want. I'll get people to renew their edge cards when they still have 4 months left on theirs.

You mad brah????

No I'm serious I'm going to try to get a few hours in at one of the many gamestops in my town. I have another part time gig vut this would be great since I also get a 30% off at B&N. Woooh trade paper backs even cheaper then amazon.
You mad brah????
Mad about what? Having a full time job? Having my own place? Easily making double your hourly pay? Yeah broseph, I'm livid.

Better find something better if you wanna be able to afford going to the Jersey Shore this summer.

its retail its gonna suck. if its a mall itll be even worse. the discount at b&n isnt worth it. btw, GS does have the right to random drug test employees so good luck with that "budsmoka"

I can tell you now, that you will hate working at Gamestop. I worked at Gamestop for 5 years, started out as a part-timer and ended as an assistant manager. Once you make it to a management level you make decent money, but the job still sucks. You have to put up with a lot of shit and push the hell out of pre-orders and Edge cards. Of course you will make no commission on any of these sells. As a part-time employee you can also look forward to getting less than 12 hours a week on top of being paid minimum wage.

I always got a good laugh out of kids coming into Gamestop and asking for an application, then proceeding to go on about how awesome the job must be since we "played games all day".

The B&N discount may not exist anymore either. When I worked for the company they bought there share out from B&N to become there own company. So Gamestop no longer has any relation to it's former parent company, B&N. Also the discount at B&N, while better than what GS gives still was pretty shitty.

Also enjoy getting about $5 off new releases with that big 15% discount. The deals you find on CAG are almost always better than the GS discount.

One last thing, Gamestop does drug test. They usually only mandatory drug test management though. Passing a drug test is simple stuff though, assuming you smoke buds. The company is pretty lax on marijuana as long as you do your job and push what they tell you to and lie to customers about how they will never find a copy of Madden on launch day without having it pre-ordered.
Ha working at gamestop is almost as worst as being a porta-poddy cleaner....
if you're going to shit on someone for trying to get a job, at least do it using proper english.
Ha working at gamestop is almost as worst as being a porta-poddy cleaner....
I'd think Gamestop would be worse, I have a buddy who cleans porta potties for a living, while his job is far from luxurious he does make $32 an hour. Doubt most of us can lay claim to something like that.

Not going to go all "I'm better than you, meter maid" on you for going in and doing a job. Work is work and pay is pay.

Like any other retail job, good luck because you're going to get unnecessarily crapped upon by the frequent customer expecting to be waited on hand and foot. If you happen to be working at GS around the holiday season, be prepared to be told by parents that you have singlehandedly ruined Christmas for their child. It's awesome.

The better job is cleaning septic tanks. The only drawback is the smell, but otherwise you just stick a hose in the ground, then stand back and chill out. Although I would worry that it might be like working at a fish market where the poop smell just seeps into your pores and you always smell like dookie no matter how much you wash.

at least if you work for mcdonalds you get free food. Your only putting in a application, good luck ACTUALLY GETTING HIRED. Everyone is seriously a pot head, you won't be called unless someone got fired.

I think I might call all the ones in town to see if they have any openings. I want to hand in my application to the manager and make a good impression.

you guys don't have to be dicks and give the guy crap. if he wants to work there, let him. i'm sure most of you don't have the ideal job anyways. at least he is willing to work and work for his money. we're still in a recession and this country (plus economy) is still in a slum and instead of being happy for the guy you have to bring him down. good luck and hope you get the job. you might not like it, but it's a start and at least you're making an effort.

You've obviously never seen any of this guys threads or what a troll he is.

Well its just for the summer maybe a little longer since I start college in the fall. I know what the job entails and frankly the things people complainant about are things I'm fine with.

lololololol! You sure told me! I guess I better go tell my fiancee that wasn't sex we've been having for all those years.
Lol one girl for years? Man you need to get some new booty.
Nah bra, I'm good. You enjoy your random hookups and awkward visits to your doctor about rashes and burning sensations.

If you are looking for discounts on fake tan and lip gloss you should have applied at the cosmetics store next to Gamestop. Brah.

I saw a girl(?) in the grocery store that was so tan, I think she changed her ethnicity.

I'm really surprised some people in here are taking this guy's post seriously. I've seen some bad trolls but budsmoka could possibly be the worst. At least try to be funny when trolling, seriously.
