Dont forget Tekken x Street Fighter.

Harada followed that playable match with an announcement of his own, confirming that Tekken X Street Fighter is also in development at Namco. That game is rumored to play in the style of Tekken, with contestants fighting in a 3D arena.

I like this idea, but would rather have Tekken be replaced by Mortal Kombat.

the big news is third strike tbh. i couldn't care less about a tekken cross over. Also

"A few other things were also revealed today and more stuff is coming. • Ono said the blank character slots for SSF4 arcade won't be revealed until the Tokyo Game Show in September.

• New alternative costumes in the works for Super Street Fighter 4. Available in the fall, based on past designs. Everyone gets a new costume.

• Capcom will have official tournaments called Capcom Cup competitions utilizing Tournament Mode. This was talked about back when they did tournament mode, but it's nice to see it come to fruition. Started in Japan yesterday, but will happen in all regions soon."

more overpriced costumes, super sf4 characters announce in sept and capcom cup? Oo
What happened to all those Darkstalkers rumors? :( Sad that he hyped this up at evo

Im excited about tihs. I am definitely curious as to how they will adapt the SF characters in to a tekken playstyle. First day purchase for me most definitely.

Street Fighter X Tekken looks really cool. I just wish a different franchise was chosen over Tekken.

On the flip side though Tekken X Street Fighter sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, SF should never be 3D hasn't Capcom learned from past mistakes?!

Why am I the only one that thinks this is a bad idea? The fighting styles don't match up. This is like when Heikachi (sp?) was put in Soul Calibur IMO. What are the Tekken fighters all going to have projectiles now, or just the SF characters?

I think this says volumes for how bad Namco/Bandai is doing and basically conceding the fighting game throne to Capcom. I'm assuming Capcom is making this, right? Does Namco have any control other than the Tekken license?

Capcom is making a SFIV style 2D version, while Namco is making a Tekken style 3D version from what i understand, 2 different games.

Namco is doing the Tekken X Street Fighter game, which is a Tekken style 3D fighter where the SF X Tekken is a 2D Capcom fighter.

Whoa, so it's 2 seperate games?! WTF! How does Capcom/Namco expect to sell anything next year when there are 3 games (these 2 plus MvC 3) to choose from? Do they think people are made of money?!

I hope people realize this is why Capcom's media events are always in places like Hawaii and Monte Carlo.

According to what I read on Kotaku. These games won't be out anytime soon. I personally don't see these coming out until Fall 2011 at the very earliest.

It's at Comic Con...duh?

Nothing is wrong with being stoked.

Fairly nice idea, but it's already difficult for me to really comprehend. I'm not a fan of the Tekken style at all, and the EX games weren't memorable, so the Namco branded one doesn't seem like a good idea at all.

I could see Capcom pulling their half off, if only because someone told me that "Remember Capcom vs SNK? Capcom does SNK style fighters better than SNK does." That was one person's opinion, but I just have more faith in Capcom as a whole for making better balanced fighting games, and the removal of 3D simplifies the process.

Anyway, kinda neat. I'll keep up with it.

So do the Tekken characters gain projectiles in the Capcom version and do the SF characters lose projectiles in the Namco version?

Also if Namco was so desperate for a team up to make money, then why didn't they go with DoA or VF? Those would at least be the same gameplay wise instead of completely changing game styles.

Unlike Capcom vs. SNK, SNK fighters already had projectiles, Tekken doesn't.

I don't know if the Tekken characters will get any projectile moves, but keep in mind many SF characters don't have any projectile attacks. My biggest question is how will the lame Tekken characters keep up with the ultra cool SF characters?

Joystiq says:
The oft-rumored project will be developed by Capcom using the Street Fighter IV engine (only with two-fighter tag team battles), and will feature a number of fighters from Namco's similarly successful fighting franchise, including Kazuya and Nina Williams.

So street fighter x tekken is tag team matches only?

SFxT - I see no concern as to how the Tekken characters will fit in. There are plenty of SF characters without projectiles and there is also room to give certain Tekken characters projectiles that make sense and aren't forced. Besides aren't all Tekken guys covered in lightning?!?! They can all throw lighting bolts!

TxSF - Familiar SF moves can easily fit at the end of combo string. Obviously projectile fights don't have its place in a Tekken engine since a hadoken would just be side stepped in a 3D plane. But things like ending an air juggle combo with a sonic boom finish do work. Also don't count out characters like Zangief and Abel translate so easily well into the Tekken engine.

I say be cautiously optimistic. I like most am excited about the Capcom developed versioned more, but the outcry of how certain things automatically don't work are unjust.

I don't think they're unjust, they're legitimate concerns IMO. Remember the PS2 version of SC II was the lowest selling of the 3 versions while the Gamecube one sold the most because of Link. No one wanted to play as Heikachi in Soul Calibur.

I'll feel better if these were 2012 or later games. I'm not buying 2 or 3 $60 fighting games next year.

It just seems like someone looked at the various fanboy threads on the net and decided to make that game, despite the fact that the universes don't mesh well. I'm guessing all the Tekken characters will have moves like C. Viper, Rufus, Zangief, etc. that aren't projectiles per say, but function the same. Then I guess the devil/robot Tekken characters will shoot lightning/lasers. Does Nina get to use guns then?

I just think this says wonders about how bad Namco must be financially vs. how well Capcom is doing. I'd say Capcom is the 2nd most financially stable/profitable Japanese game company right now behind Nintendo, while Namco hasn't had a BIG hit globally since the original Katamari and has various studios on the verge of bankruptcy (ie Tales Studio.)

holy shit, i never thought. this is the second most surprising news i have ever heard. The first being sonic & mario in a game along with solid snake.

Oh man, you sure are cool. I wish I could be a bastion of masculinity like you and your wrestling avatar.

Watching the video, the game plays like a 2D fighter, but only vaguely reminiscent of Street Fighter IV. They'll make an entirely new engine, and rework the Tekken characters so that it fits. Not all characters in Vs. games have had projectiles. It looks like they might be emphasizing the tag team aspect of the game, which would be amazing.

I predict that similar to the Capcom/SNK partnership, the Capcom version will sell in spades and be highly revered as a phenomenal gaming experience while the Namco version will suck donkey balls. I hope that I'm wrong and Namco makes a decent product.

These universes mesh about as well as Marvel vs. Capcom. Of course it's fanboy fodder. That's what ALL crossover games are.

So, it's going to be fighters with 3 moves versus fighters with zillions of moves. Sounds great.

Nah, they're probably going to dumb down Tekken characters like they did SNK characters for the CvS games.

i dont know why people are being negative. This crossover has already been done in NamcoXCapcom. I dont see Namco conceding anything in the "fighting game throne". the two companies jointly worked together on a RPG and why is it blasphemy if they do a cross over fighter.

To me, Tekken doesn't have the staples that Street Fighter has. Maybe its because I'm not a Tekken fan and I'm ignorant of its roster.

Amiright?

Seeing the movie of the SF vs T actually makes me more optimistic. Ryu was able to roll out of a knock down. SF has f*cking needed more wake up options since SF2, so maybe this crossover could lead the way toward such progression.

I know everyone is complaining about tons of fighting games coming out but this picture.....

Leads me to believe this game isn't coming until AT LEAST Fall 2011/Spring 2012.

This game looks great. I'm wiling to bet this is going to be somewhat of a "spiritual successor" to CVS2 in terms of gameplay.

I'm loving that new franchises are being birthed while other fights are getting long awaited sequels! I'm already pumped for these games and will probably play them both.

This is exactly how I felt when Lego finally made Star Wars figures. It was like a dumb idea I had as a kid got picked up and turned into something wonderful.

Street Fighter + Tekken = WIN!! I am more excited about this game than I have been for a fighter in a long time.

edit: if they figure out how to add Mortal Kombat, my head will explode.

Looks like Rival Schools with Tekken and Street Fighter characters. Project Justice was one of my fav fighters ever. If this ends up being remotely like that, I am totally sold.

Finally i can Secure all those Sh*t talking ken user's with my boy Paul Phoenix ...(I've always had a rivalry with my boy cause he F's me up in street fighter but i, in turn, F him up in tekken. This is going to be SO F'ing Sweet!!!)
