Columbus OH - Post Office Issue

Not sure where to put this so I figured it was a regional thing...

I don't know if it is my local post office (where my mail carrier picks up everything) or my hub that is doing this, but in the past month I've had the following:

- 4 Carrier Pickups were never given to my carrier
- 7 games that I received (in bubble mailers) were completely smashed; meaning it looked like somebody threw a 50 lb box on top of a 6 oz bubble mailer... I've gotten cases in pieces, and 2 games cracked
- 3 games that I sent out (again in bubble mailers - new ones not reused either) were smashed in the same way
- 1 Xbox 360's faceplate (on a MW2 console) was cracked because somebody must have dropped the box on its side - I had insurance but I also had a spare faceplate, and the guy on eBay was getting testy so I resolved in myself

When I used to live in Pittsburgh & Philadelphia, I never had any kind of issues like this. Heck, the only times things happened were my fault. I must have sent out 100s of games before moving here, and no issue.

Is there anything I can do? Contact the local post master?

I mean I worry that pissing off the postal service is like pissing off anybody who prepares food. I'd prefer my mail not get fucked with, but on the other hand, the shit I'm getting things in isn't right either.

Definitely contact your local postmaster. If he doesn't at least listen and acknowledge the issue, then take it up the chain. Chances are if your mail delivery is being affected, so are many others. The more people they hear from, the more likely they are to take action to correct it.

Yeah I already put in a call to the postmaster.

Just got a game from the Go Hastings sale that was crushed as well. Luckily PS3 games are more sturdy, but those flimsy ass 360 games have no chance.

I feel your pain. I just moved here from Alaska, all of my boxes I shipped were smashed to hell (I know, they went across the continent, but I've moved many times the same distance and this has never happened). One box that contained shoes had been smashed opened and resealed, each of the left shoes had been taken out of the box. The post office claimed it had just been smashed and the items fell out. I call bullshit, what are the odds that every left shoe of six pairs of shoes were the ones to fall out of the box. Obviously contacted the post master. Columbus postal workers can go suck a big fat one.

I got a package last week from the gamefly sale that had the bubble mailer crushed. Other than that, Columbus UPS has been pretty good to me. Where in Columbus are you?

Are you shipping media mail or parcel post? It's been several years since I worked in a post office but they are treated like absolute garbage. Stuffed into sacks with things usually much higher in weight as that class of mail tends to be. If it's first class then I don't know. Our first class mail was usually only a small portion of a container and it's hard to imagine it getting crushed the way it was.

Columbus, OH, postal service is shit depending on where you are. We live in the Easton area and the ghetto Innis Road post office is our post office. After some mishaps, we only use UPS and FedEx for inbound packages. The USPS at the airport is awesome though and we use that for outbound packages. I also never had any problems with the USPS on the OSU campus. It just seems to depend on which post office is the one that delivers your mail. The Innis Post Office needs to be shut down IMO.

Just curious, have you had any issues since your last post?

I live in Hilliard and I've never had any problems (other than with a few bitchy older ladies that work at the post office).

as postal employee, when it's gotten that bad I would think about calling your local postal inspectors.
