Anybody know what this is? (external PS2 HDD)

I got this for $30. anybody know what it is?(yes, i am aware that it is a hard drive lol, but does anybody have any details?) it doesn't look like it connects to a regular PS2. I am a new user and can't post pics but you can see pics on my photobucket here:

from the looks of the connector, i don't think it would fit into a slim ps2..your best bet is to check and see if you can plug it into the fat version

I have a fat PS2 and it doesn't fit in there. I used to have a slim and from what I remember it won't fit in it.

I thought the external hdd here was only for the first model japan ps2s? The model that had the DVD drivers on a 8MB memory card right?

Maybe it was used in conjunction with a PS2 dev kit console?

the launch Japanese PS2 does not have a slot for HDD so it uses external HDD
