Hi everyone,

My super old 360 headset (came with the system) finally bit the dust. My dog chewed it a little and sometimes its real bad feedback on it, then yesterday he decided to bite the foam around the earpiece. Needless to say, time to get a new one.
Are those wireless ones any good? The most I would like to pay is around $30-40 dollars. I bought a new wired one from Walmart for 20, but I didnt open it yet because I wanted to shop around some more.
What does everyone else use?

Thanks!

I have the Wireless Microsoft one and love it. Seems to pick up well, sound is at least as good as the basic headset. It holds a charge for a few sessions for me, though I don't play online a lot. The only down side is I do keep a basic headset around because you can't chat and charge at the same time.

I got the official MS wireless headset like the first day they were on sale. So, I've been using it for years and it works great.

I have the official Microsoft wireless one (in Halo 3 green) and its worked great since I got it (around Halo 3 launch).

i have the official ms wireless, and i like it as well. it seems to me that the quality is actually better then the regular wired headset. i hear people louder, and according to my friends they can hear me better as well when im using my wireless vs. wired.

The quality in the wireless headset is a lot better than the wired one. It's crazy, when my friends and I are in party chat, if one of us switches to a wired headset it is completely obvious. The wired is pretty cheaply made and practically designed to short out anyways.

I've had mine at least two years (probably more) and it still holds a good charge. I can play for about 6 hours straight on it before it dies. Although I've read online if you replace the battery you can get up to 12 hours on a single charge.

It's worth the extra money, and 20 dollars for a wired headset is a ripoff.

Looks like I will get the wireless one.

Amazon has some used ones for around 30ish. Think they will be ok? Having someone else's ear on them is kinda icky though

Wow, cant believe amazon doesnt sell this with Amazon Prime, that really stinks

Don't buy the used headsets at all. You can actually contract ear infections from headsets and ear buds. Go with the new Halo Reach wireless headset when it launches.

the only headset for xbox 360 that will last you for a long period of time is the wireless headset regardless if it's white, the halo edition. the new halo reach wireless one is $49.99 and will be out soon so i'd wait on that instead. i've had turtle beach and tritton headsets and they're good, but won't last for long because of the puck that connects to the bottom of the controller usually doesn't last long and the wired headset for xbox 360 is the same problem.

I bought the wireless one last night after much debating. I got it for 43 shipped which isnt too bad. I didnt get the Halo one because I dont care about a silly Halo logo for an extra 7 bucks.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

So does anyone know if premium headsets like the turtle beach ones are worthwhile? I know this is Cheapass gamer, but I've been without a headset for awhile now and if the top dollar ones are actually far superior I might be willing to pay for them (though admittedly I work at Best Buy and get a pretty solid discount on them, so it wouldn't be as much of a hit on the wallet).

Hey Erad,

I am going to have to redirect your question to the avsforum in the xbox section. They have a 200+ thread on headsets like the ones you are looking for :)

The official wireless headset is great, go get that dude! The only problem I've had is that they sometimes cut out for 5 seconds but it rarely happens. It's annoying though when people are making random sounds or informing someone to suck their solid snake and that crap is blasted through your sound system.......

Enjoy it Mr. OP

I was going to buy one at Gamestop to pass the time, then return the one online to them, but Gamestop only had the black ones and I ordered the white one :(

I can't speak for any of their other products, but the HPX paired with an Astro Mix Amp is what I'm using right now on the Xbox and I'm very pleased.
