I've been debating that myself. At least with the used deals of the week it made more sense. I'm going to give it a few more weeks and then I might start not doing the ad.
 
sometimes theyre great but most of hte time they lie, like the buy new or used and get the next 40% off and here i though i can get a good deal but really you spend more then you would need to.

I dont think I have picked up a used deal of the week since Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness... Lately minus a couple weeks it has been shit PS2 games. :roll:

It makes me sad that the trend suggests the DOTW's are getting worse and worse. :cry:
 
The e-mail didn't have anything really. What's really sad is it mentions "Pre Owned Deals of the Week" in the image that you click to get to the ad, only to click it and find that there are no deals of the week. Pretty pathetic in my opinion. Even if the used deals of the week were PS2 games, at least it was something. I don't mind so much right now as I don't plan on buying anything until October, but I'm starting to get worried that they are abandoning a lot of the good things they used to do (i.e. great trade in promos, good used deals of the week, etc.).
 
I really hope their used deals of the week guy is just on vacation like the XBL dotw guy, and they didnt just decide to stop doing used deals of the week..... :\
 
Like I said, probably the marketing person is back from vacation, so were getting these "deals" again. I haven't seen any "Power Hour" deals lately, so I'm probably right.
 
I think GS is making it plainly clear now that they feel extremely confident about their business practices and simply do not give a shit about any shopper that dares to actually look for a bargain. They are content to screw over little kids and soccer moms.

The love that the e-mail still says that one of the features of the ad is the used deal of the week...
 
maybe they didn't want to deal with coupons this coming week while all the store managers and DM's are at a conference.
 
I'm going to give the ad 2-3 more weeks, but if it continues to be no used deals of the week and no coupon, I'm just going to call it dead for a while.

There really isn't any other national chain dedicated to selling games besides Gamestop. Without competition, they can pretty much crap on everyone. I know that many major retail chains are entering the used game market, but I'm sure they haven't put a dent in Gamestops sales yet.
 
I am going to unsubscribe from their shit if this keeps being the "pre-order now" email bullshit. They already do that once a week.

I think it's because Gamestop is not hitting Wall Street analysts expected sales/profits, etc. so they are in super cutback mode. It seems they are cutting out all sales that are not trade-ins, only doing online sales to match what Amazon/Walmart.com are doing, and cutting hours at all stores nationwide to the bone to try to drive profits up.
