Costume Quest - Adorably Awesome

Fell Open Ian

CAGiversary!
Costume Quest is out and it is just a pumpkin pail full of delightful funny but, sadly, the PS3 version suffers from a heartbreaking amount of framerate issues and hiccups.

I'm not talking about scenes filled with shader effects firing in all directions but rather a steady chug while simply walking/skating around the environments.

edit: Well after further testing I've found the framerate problems to be seemingly random. I've downloaded the game multiple times using both wired and wireless connections and sometimes the framerate issues are a major problem while other times they are simply a minor annoyance. They remain ever-present but can vary wildly on the same exact download but during different play sessions.

I've looked at other forums and there is some mention of the same issue and I, of course, tested other games to check for PS3/GPU hardware issues but nothing doing and nothing concrete regarding Costume Quest.

Either way I've edited the thread title as I can't for sure say that the framerate is so much an actual problem as it is a random occurrence.:?:

I haven't had that many framerate problems so far. A few hiccups while zipping around on the skates, but that's about it.

I've only played the up until the mall, but I'm loving this game.

Same here. I've run into it a couple times, but nothing bad enough to effect my enjoyment of the game. Gameplay is great, writing is good, well worth the money IMO.

I just tried the demo to see if it strikes my fancy but I seem to think the dialogue bubbles disappear way to fast, the ones you don't need to press X on anyways. Maybe I'm a slow reader but I missed half of the beginning due to this. I was hopping there was a setting for text speed or something but form the demo there wasn't. This issue aside I really enjoyed the demo. It also keeps hinting at you to purchase the full game in a smart manner. Hope this sells well for Tim Schafers sake.

heh, this sort of pushed me over the edge. It told me I unlocked a trophy and needed to unlock the full game to keep it... gotcha, sucker!

I do like how seamless it was though. I downloaded the unlock key and just kept playing. Unlike demos like Scott Pilgrim which make you start all over if you take the "upsell". I really hope they do more demos like this.
About how long is this? I think I am around 4 hours in and in the second zone.
It took me about 6 or 7 hours to finish it and unlock all the trophies. It's not a very challenging game but it's still enjoyable. The level cap is
10
and you will hit it very close to the end so that will give you a clue as to how close you are to finishing it.

I hope they do more like this. I'd totally buy a Christmas version.

I tried the demo, it wasn't my cup of tea. Not sure why the text just flies by in a game intended for kids who aren't going to necessarily be able to read it that fast.

Played it for about 5 seconds and really like it. Will let wife get first go through with it though.

I agree with the above greatly. I can read it fine... but it is fast and I can see kids getting smoked. I hope they patch it with a "button to move text" feature to make it more palatable for all ages.

God damn my birthday being the day before holloween and me loving video games, it's like I have to give Double Fine my money!

Absolutely funny. I love this game's humor. It's a damn shame about the frame rate problems I experienced every now and then though, they did hinder my experience. It's so darn cute and funny though, it reminds me a ton of Fat Princess.
