After my Music Appreciation teacher assigned a concert report and approved of Wicked I looked into the pricing of tickets and found out that they were $50+ each. However, my mother heard on the news that they had lotteries 2 hours before every showing where they offer tickets at $25 each if you get your name drawn..

So, my brother, mother and me went down there and put our names into the lottery. Each winner had the option of buying two tickets so if any of us won besides me, they could just buy a second ticket for me at the same $25 cost(Neither of them wanted to see it and were doing it for me,btw.). The winners don't get announced for 30 minutes so we just stood and waited. A total of 32 people showed up and there were 20 tickets. After the 4 winners were announced my name gets pulled and I purchased two tickets, my brother changed his mind about seeing it at the last second.

When I got home I looked up our seat row and number and found out that we were in the third row from the stage and placed all the way to the right. However that night when we got down there, there was nobody in the 5 seats next to our left so we just scooted all the way down and had really good seats and could see the stage very well.

Apparently the seats we ended up sitting in were priced at $185 according to the seating chart I looked at online so that was a pretty good deal I'd say!

Also, apparently Wicked does this lottery thing around the country so anyone interested in seeing it might want to try for it if they come into your town. ;D

Awesome - depending on the night, it's a BIG deal to win the "Wicked" lottery. In NYC, there are often 300+ people in line trying to get those tickets.

This deal started WAY back in 1995 with Rent. Knowing that it's target audience didn't likely have $100 to spend on a ticket, the producers started the lottery system as a way to ensure that at least some people could get into the show for cheap.

What'd you think of the show? "Wicked" isn't my favorite, but the sets are cool.

Hmmm, it was alright. I thought it was cool how they linked it with the original story of the Wizard of Oz. Only other musical I've seen was The Lion King and it'd be hard to beat that because I'm such a fan of the original Disney movie, lol. I probably would not have paid to see it at $50 but it was a positive experience and good change of pace in entertainment for me personally.

So this kind of thing has been going on since 1995? Cool.

My wife and I went and saw Wicked in Dec. 2008. It was my first broadway show experience, and I must say an excellent one. I don't remember exactly what we paid per ticket, but it was upwards of $150/each.

Congrats! I used to do the Wicked lottery ALL the time when it was playing at the Pantages in LA. I won probably 6-7 times throughout their time here. It was thrilling to get drawn every time. Wicked is awesome!!
