Will you be buying a Kinect?

If it ever gets a killer app and hits a much lower price point, maybe. Right now, no way.

Will admit though, my fondness for HCI studies has me wondering how well most people receive it.

I've been thinking about upgrading to a new 250gb Black Xbox. I have a referb with a 250 gb harddrive now. So I might get the Pro bundle with Kinect, transfer the data and sell my old xbox.

nah, I'm not going to invest in another party multiplayer peripheral that's going to collect dust next to the Wii or the RB drum set.

Nope.

I am all for new kinds of controls and I can adapt to anything but after years of touch screens and arm waving I've come to realize that I simply prefer buttons the end.

I own a Wii, I camped-out at launch for said Wii, and I still think that motion controls can and do add something to the experience in a supplemental way but on-the-whole they work best in a drunken party setting when actual accurate control is a secondary need and even then they should be optional.

The idea of motion controls is neat but the implementations, thus far, have been laughably pathetic and after having now played all of the current/upcoming offerrings...nothing is changing this gen.

Not now and probably not ever unless the next Gears of War or other AAA title is Kinect-only controls (please god no). I mean if the games turn out to be awesome then yeah I'll look into it but I have less than zero interest at the moment.

Holy hell, if that happened I'd ditch my 360 and be done with gaming!

Keep motion controls out of core games!

Where's waiting on price drop/core game releases? That's what I'm doing. Steel Battalian and other games before i even think about getting one.

As much as it sucks, I believe the reports that Microsoft is putting $500 million into advertising this thing.

You can't tell me that Oprah didn't get a little cash for her little Kinect marketing stunt.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see Kinect succeed, but for the RIGHT reasons (Fun, good games). Not because of some celebrity endorsement.

By the way, where are all the Kinect reviews? I figured that Microsoft would want to get some more hype going much like the Move did before its launch.

Don't even have a 360. I still enjoy playing the Wii once in awhile (1st-party games at least) but the "us too" mentality with Microsoft and Sony is really annoying. I've seen absolutely nothing from either side that would make me want to spend any amount of money on their new controllers/technology. Some fun looking games, yes, but nothing worth any money.

Not at launch, but some of the stuff they showed at TGS this year looks a LOT better than the wii-too launch games. Plus I live in an apartment, so I'll need to hear some impressions from apartment dwellers.

See the thread in the General Gaming Forum.

MS put an embargo on reviews to not be published before release. Guess they're expecting some poor reviews....

I am still on the fence about it really, while I am interested, I will no way be getting a Kinect at or even close to launch regardless, just because of the price.

Yes, I will be picking it up a Kinect bundle. Maybe not at launch because I want a new laptop as well. I want a new console so for me the bundle is a nice pick up.

I haven't been impressed by the launch line-up yet however, that one horror game that Sega's working on might change my opinion about it depending on how good it turns out.

I will when it hits $100 or less. $150 is RIDICULOUS for it.

Who are they aiming at with that price? Most of the casuals already have a Wii.

I will buy "Dance Masters" for it right now though as I'm afraid, when they second print it, they'll cut out "Night Of Fire" and the corresponding Para Para routine.

I think it looks pretty cool, but I do wish it weren't so expensive. Still, I am tempted. For the record, I like our Wii quite a bit, not the shovelware, of course, but there's plenty of non-shovelware to enjoy on the Wii. Unlike Move, which is just Wii in HD, Kinect is something completely new and is undeniable very cool technology of its own. I like the concept of Dance Central a lot, but I'm not sure I'm going to like the music. Actually I'm pretty sure I'm going to hate the music in it. Then again I like DDR, yet don't really like that music either, but at least that music isn't something I hear while at the grocery store. I don't mind DDR music. I do mind most pop music. Quite a bit.
i will soon as they get more in sold out everywhere
it's not sold out if it's not even out yet. People might've stopped taking preorders for it, but it'll be in stock.

amazon dont have anymore

If i wanted childish games with crappy slow motion control i would have bought a Wii.
Ill stick to games with depth thank you.

I would like it, but what I would not like is to pay that much for it. Also, I think the games, as of this moment, are lackluster. But I think some of it's other features such as automatically logging in when you stand in front of the sensor and being able to turn on the console using your voice are pretty cool. Unless it gets some interesting games under it's belt, I won't be picking it up anytime soon.

Figured I'd say that I'm getting one tomorrow, and it'll end up costing less than $50. :D

It comes with Kinect Adventures and Fighters Uncaged for $100, so I'll sell those and get a cheap kinect :D

Already got one. Haven't hooked it up yet because I'm out of town. As soon as I get home I'm moving so I won't get hooked up then. Some time in 2011 I will enjoy the damn thing with my family lol.
