I have a 1st gen iPod Touch. It will not update to the iOS 4.0 software, so I need to get one of the 4th generation models. Does anyone know of a place to get a good deal on one of the 4th generation models (8gb or 32gb) or a place that may give me a good credit for my 8gb 1sst gen to upgrade to a 4th gen?

I would sell your first gen on Craigslist or over Amazon. I bet you could get from $75 to $100 from someone on craigslist. I don't follow the Ipod updates too much but I believe the 3rd generation can be updated to the iOS 4. That would probably be your cheapest option, picking up a used or refurbished one of those.

I have a second generation, and it still updates, but on Amazon they sell for $125 last time I checked. You probably could get $75-$100 for it like lionheart said.

So that's $100, then most stores do a $25 gift card in the weekly ads, so that will help too.

However an 8GB is $230, so you might as well go with the 32GB for $300.

Newegg (?) had a pretty good bundle deal for a 32GB 4th gen with $150 and $20 headphones for $325 after some coupon. After it expired, I saw the deal again, so it might be somewhat recurring.

Amazon is you best bet.

BUT get the 32GB instead of the 8GB. I am new to ipod touches and stuff and I already have over 21GB of apps. !!!
