That sounds cool. How'd you get that deal? Just at checkout you signed up or am I completely missing something?

I'll be about 20 feet from what seems like a BBV that's been on the way out for a decade on Friday and if there's a deal like that, I'll pop in and browse.

There were signs up and the manager came over and spoke to me about it. He said it was at all closing stores, so it should be at yours.

This is from tonight. Sadly, this isn't a start to our BD collection, just an addition to the 200+ we already have.

I lost count, but I think we paid ~$85 total for this batch.

That's insane man. Nice haul.

Just checked out two that are closing for the first time. Don't know how long they've been doing the closing sale, but both had VERY barren game sections. It's still early as games are 10% off and movies are 30% off and BRs are 15% off, but considering the rental and used sections of these stores prior to closing there is very little, much less than other stores that have closed before at this stage of the sale. Wonder if they shipped stuff out to non-closing stores? Asked about BR TV sets and dude said they were sold like regular BR movies, ie cost is per disc then minus discount of 15 % so right now Band of Brothers was around $60. Even he admitted it was ridiculous.

i have talked to several BBV associates and they all say the same thing when asked about how barren the shelves are. "Oh we were hit really hard the first day." Complete utter BS, we all know that BBV used prices are really close to retail even with the inital discount.
so i am with you in thinking they are shipped out to non-closing if not to their online center.
case in point when the new Alice was released my local BBV had a ton on friday. Closing sale started Sat. i live 2 blocks away and was there at open.... Where did all the alice's go!!

I know for a fact that the stores near me that are/were closing recently shipped a lot of stuff out because A. I saw them packing it up before the sale started, and B. they told me they did. :-P

All closing stores ship new release titles within 30 days off to other stores this is games as well. While it's true that they ship a lot of stuff out to to other stores they also get a ton of stuff shipped to them it's just a lot of older crap that nobody wants. Blu ray titles start at 15% off and stay at the % til the last few days of the sale.

FYI, the 40" Sony Bravia tv that's stores have is now for sale at $400. This is the first time that these have been made available for sale. I'm helping out at a closing store and just sold the kiosk and tv for $500.

HB, is the PS3 in the kiosk for sale?

So I'm been privy to some news recently that I think people in this thread may care to know.

Some of you may know that Blockbuster is for sale and has been made an offer of $290 Million, if you didn't, you do now. I basically have some inside information that tells me should the sale go through the company would likely, although not guaranteed, face total liquidation. That doesn't necessarily mean the stores would completely go away, but at a minimum there would be drastic changes.

Lol, inside information. You mean the same information I've been reading in almost every article about the Blockbuster bankruptcy since the offer was made? That inside information?

No. I think that's the only thing in stores not for sale.

Stopped in there last night, pretty miserable prices still, though there were some decent TV seasons for $20 per season, shame it was only DVD though and not Bluray (which were being sold per disc instead of per season), otherwise I'd have got some. Shame though, I use that BBV a decent bit, now no where to rent games other than Gamefly.

So sad to see Blockbuster's BM stores go, but at least I'm still renting games from them online. Don't really mind the 3 month delay since I'm trying to finish school.

The store at Main and Preston in Frisco Texas is closing. I went by today and they are at 10% off everything right now and the games are already picked over. I picked up a Ghost Squad for Wii for about $7, I figured that was about the cost of a rental so the short gameplay would not be an issue. Also picked up 15 empty cases.

Gandy/Dale Mabry
Missouri/Rosary Road

Anyone have a comprehensive list of what they keep in stock "generally" for a store closing. Got one near by me hoping to maybe get COD: Black Ops (PS3), Uncharted 1+2 , and Assassin's Creed Bloodlines (PSP)

Some stores ship stuff out, some stores get stuff shipped in. Last year one of my closing stores had new games for sale going back to the Original Gameboy & Super Nintendo.

My store in Bloomington IL is closing.

Crap for deals though. All the clearance stuff was marked back to MSRP (the pink clearance tag was slightly visible) and there were approx 20 games in total, 15 of which were New Vegas.

Hot shit! My closing BBV is pushing a refer-a-friend promo for $5 off any purchase, just for giving them an email address. The people working there suggested taking advantage of it, so having my own domain and unlimited email finally pays off.

(($6.99 - 15%) - $5) + tax = $1.30 Blu rays? Yes please!

EDIT: And before anyone starts crying SCAM or whatever, the on-duty manager called the DM and got approval for it.

Sadly, BB seems to have fixed this somewhat. Their system now tracks email addresses and credit card numbers, and cockblocks you if either is a duplicate.

Still fun to exploit, though--ended up with The White Ribbon, The Road, and A Prophet for a little under $4 total.

Add Wilkes-Barre(PA) store to the closing list: http://www.timeslead...02-23-2011.html

I don't know if this was the 2010 closing list of 145 stores or not, but I found THIS article on another webpage detailing BBV's attempts to get outta bankruptcy.

The list starts on page 11 of the .pdf .

Nice find, but I think that list on the PDF is pretty dated. The Livonia, MI location on the list, for instance, closed last summer, almost a year ago, and it doesn't list either of the two local stores that apparently closed around Christmastime, nor either of the two local stores that I know are currently closing. Thanks for sharing, though.
