Social interactivity, the next big step for multiplayer first person shooters

I wholeheartedly agree. Multiplayer these days is all about satisfying each individual player so they feel like an accomplished lone wolf. What results is a fairly routine and more mundane experience compared to shooters like Wolfenstein (2001), Tribes 2, and even Counter-Strike/Day of Defeat.

And with games like Battlefield down-scaling itself to accommodate lone wolf casuals, the future doesn't seem too bright if you're the type of a gamer looking for a bit more in his FPS. Even Ghost Recon caved in. It's all about the k/d ratios.

Notice how the competitive FPS scene has dwindled because of this as well.
