Fast Five discussion thread

I couldn't find one with 5 facepalms... Although I suppose I could do five Picard pics.
Weren't these movies about racing?
Kinda. They're mixtures of crime/law enforcement and racing.

An undercover cop infiltrates an underworld subculture of Los Angeles street racers looking to bust a hijacking ring, and soon begins to question his loyalties when his new street racing friends become the prime suspects

Former cop, Brian O'Conner is finally arrested after letting his leader escape the law. To avoid the consequences, he must now work with an old college friend and help the police arrest a local drug exporter.

In order to avoid a jail sentence, Sean Boswell heads to Tokyo to live with his military father. In a low-rent section of the city, Shaun gets caught up in the underground world of drift racing.

Brian O'Conner, now working for the FBI in LA, teams up with Dominic Toretto to bring down a heroin importer by infiltrating his operation.

Dominic and his crew find themselves on the wrong side of the law once again as they try to switch lanes between a ruthless drug lord and a relentless federal agent.

They're a guilty pleasure of mine for some reason. I know they're pretty terrible, but they're still kind of fun.

I'm guessing that they're forced overseas to hide after breaking O'Conner out of jail/off of the prison bus or something equally crazy

They need to do a crossover with the Transformers franchise. That would be so horrible....

Man, this is my guilty pleasure, hell I'm not even guilty about it. Car porn + dumb action flick + Han + Jordana Brewster? There is a god.

Say what you will, but I liked the other Movies. 2 and 3 weren't that great because they were missing the main characters, but 1 and 4 were good. I'm looking forward to 5.

This... if you hate the movies, you're thinking too hard while watching them. Check your premise before you sit down and watch.. they're not claiming to be anything but some mindless fun revolving around action and cars for a couple hours. Of course there are a TON of inaccurate representations but you need to not take it so seriously.

Fast and the Furious is a guilty pleasure of mine.

This one looks like the worst one. Doesn't even look like it's from the same series

Like the other above, this is a guilty pleasure too. I hated the 3rd movie because of that dumb hillbilly. The first one was the best though.

I'm glad to see that others share the same feelings as I do for these movies : Guilty Pleasure. :)

So, when does this one take place? Third movie spoiler -
Doesn't that asian guy die in the third one? I see him in the trailer for this one and he is in the credits

He does die, but if you remember from the movie (you probably don't, I'm probably the only one that likes Tokyo Drift), he was waxing poetic and philosophical about his adventures with Vin. So I'm guessing that Tokyo Drift takes place in some future land where they play soccer from rooftop to rooftop.

Ditto.

4 was only good in the middle. The rolling semi scene at the beginning and the tunnel chase/crash at the end were complete wtf moments.

Guilty pleasure as mine as well. Hell if I can catch it at matinee price when it comes out I'll go see it in theaters. I must say from the first movie up to the current one their car knowledge has improved quite a bit. Who the hell would bother turboing an eclipse when you can buy the turbo'd all wheel drive version (first movie).
These movies are fun, they're dumb fun and they know it. What's the big deal?
Some people believe all movies need to be 100% authentically possible. No room for imagination.

i thought the rock was going to be a part of their team when i first saw pictures of the movie, but i was wrong lol.

movie is gonna be hot .. can't wait.

I love the series, I will look forward to seeing this. Thanks for the trailer post, didn't know it was even coming. Good to see all of the "main" characters together for something.

I remember I worked at a small town video store in 2001 when the first movie came out and we couldn't keep it on the shelves. Everybody wanted to see it.

These are entertaining movies. Anyone looking for artistic, meaningful cinema isn't going to look to a Fast and Furious movie to satiate that taste.
These movies are fun, they're dumb fun and they know it. What's the big deal?
You see, some people on the internet don't have things called "friends" or "lives" so they just hate anything that is moderately popular or doesn't sync perfectly with their tastes. They are what we call "close minded."
I'm probably the only one that likes Tokyo Drift
Nah, I like it enough to be my favorite of this guilty-pleasure series. If only because it introduces Han. So him being in the fifth one guarantees some of my attention.

I remember being stuck in traffic because they were filming this. I may watch just for that.

He's like some philosophizing, snack-eating cowboy.

I also like how the movie seemed to be even more absurd than the absurdity that is FnF, such as casting Sonny Cheeba and Lil' Bow Wow and seeing Zachary Ty Bryan do absolutely nothing after Home Improvement.

movie was pretty cool even though it kind of had that transformers kinda feel to it. the best part is spoiled at teh end of the commercials taht run on tv

Well this movie was boring....glad I didn't pay to get in to see it :D

No Dark of the Moon Trailer on this one......they must have put it in the IMAX screen instead :(

Trailers depend on the theater.. mine had Dark of the Moon on it.

Haven't seen it yet, but I want to soon. If only just to see if I can recognize some local areas in the movie (I know a few scenes were shot in a warehouse in town, don't know if any filming was done outdoors.)

Saw it today and loved it. Great sense of story and action. My question is
When the girl asks Hahn about Tokyo is that saying that Tokyo drift hasn't happened yet in the storyline or does he mean people should forget about that movie.
Also
I couldn't believe the scene after the credits showing Letty. I swore she was dead but I thought Hahn was dead as well. Guess people are coming back from the dead now.
I now have an urge to watch the previous 4 just for fun.
This movie takes place before tokyo drift. (1, 2, 4, 5, then 3)
That's funny cause I never watched Tokyo Drift so this really makes me want to see it after I go see this. The way they keep going I will probably just have to pick up each movie individually instead of wanting on a box set.
