Can you beat Super Mario Bros.?

Chuplayer

CAGiversary!
Simple question. I hear about it all the time how people can't beat Super Mario Bros. To me, that's just whack. I've been beating SMB for almost 20 years. Just a few weeks ago, I played through the entire game and didn't use any warps. I did this on my real NES without using Game Genie.

I couldn't do it when I was a kid. Couldn't beat Zelda: OOT and a lot of other games as well. I just watched older people play them.

I was a prodigy at FPS/RTS though

Yes. Can't believe this is a serious question.

First time I beat it was in Mexico at my cousins. Later I beat it again in Mexico at my cousins on all stars.

Haven't beat it since.

I've never beaten it. I don't really remember playing it all that much. Mario 2 and 3 and the new mario games have been beaten. My kids are getting that 25th anniversary one for christmas so i guess ill try and see if i can. I agree with CrysalK though about it getting boring. The old Mario games just don't do it for me any more.

Absolutely! I have no clue what the solutions are for those two castle mazes though anymore since I'm out of practice. The jump from everything before it and world 8 is an incredible test of patience and something that takes some real old school trial and error to navigate but definitely doable.

Pretty much every other game on nes is harder than super mario bros, and I've beaten quite a few. Of course now if I played SMB, it would be with super mario all stars which I believe saves your progress...

Can beat it all the way through with no warps on 1 life. Did it once when i was younger playing with a friend, though didnt intentionally mean to do so, but did. Can still do so if I really wanted.
i've never done it but i think i could. it just gets boring after a couple levels.

Of course it's boring if you only ever play a couple levels, and you play them over and over. Warp your way to World 8. You will crap a brick.

I couldn't beat this as a kid, namely because I skipped the NES/Master System gen and went straight to the 16 bit era. But I bought an old NES from a buddy of mine about 5-7 years ago and beat it numerous times(using warps:booty:), then I got bored with it and sold the system and game(s).

Was playing MW2, then my sister wanted to play too. Had to go to Wii and play New SMB. Turns on that it took us a total of 7 continues (35 lives) to beat World 2-2. I stopped playing and my brother played it with my sister and they beat 2-2. I remember playing Mario when I was a kid and my brother had a SNES, but honestly I didnt really play it. Ive sucked at all Mario's.

I beat a few days ago while waiting for the missus to get ready.

She thought the game was "unbeatable". She was shocked to see me blast right through it.

Sadly, I can't beat the game. If I took my time instead of trying to rush through the levels however, then yeah, I would probably be able to beat it.

Nope, never, nor have I ever made a serious attempt to do so. Don't know if they count, depending on your point of view, but the only Mario games I've ever beaten have been SMB2 (US version) and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3.

Also, semi-related: I've never beaten Sonic the Hedgehog, either. The only Sonic game I've ever beaten was Sonic Adventure. Have come close to beating Sonic 2, and very close to beating Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis version) and Sonic Rush, though.

I distinctly remember beating it multiple times as a kid. I've forgotten so many secrets and become so spoiled by SMB3/SMW/NSMB that I really have a hard time going back and playing it. I'm sure I could do it again if I gave a rat's ass.

SMB3 was the first Mario game I played/beat on the NES. After that, SMB felt pretty archaic to me and I just couldn't enjoy it. I didn't beat SMB until the All-Stars version and even then, I had to force myself through the first few worlds before I started to enjoy the game.

I didn't have any issues with SMB2 on the NES since it was different from the other two.
