I bought my PS3 on 12/26 for $299. I took my receipt in today and got an adjustment done on my purchase to get the $50 gift card. No questions, no fuss.
Picked up a 2nd Dualshock controller with the $50 gift card.
Did you have to take the box or just the receipt?

When FF XIII came out they gave me trouble. I just tweeted about the issue and made sure to include @BestBuy in my complaint. Within an hour the "Social Network" manager contacted me, then the store and fixed the issue. I have not had a single problem since then.
Sorry for the long post, just want people to make Best Buy follow their own policies.

Amazon has matched the PS3 deal. http://www.amazon.co...F8&s=videogames
Beautiful timing -- my faithful launch 60GB YLOD'd on Friday night while trying to watch a DVD, and I was just debating the best way to replace it. With a couple of Amazon promotional credits and trade-in credits sitting around, and no sales tax, this is a lot cheaper and nicer than schlepping over to Best Buy.
Anybody have any recommendations for disposing of a dead PS3 60GB besides eBay-ing it for parts?

So the 60GB PS3s must not be reliable then. I gave away my 80GB BC PS3 a few months back considering I wasn't using BC and sure wasn't playing the PS3 like that. So I want one now, again and wondering if I should get a 60GB PS3 or a Slim and it looks like the Slim it is. And I might pick up a PS2 Slim also.

This is what TRU always does. Not only do they put in in the ad, but they also put up signage in the store. So everyone thinks the games above the signs are 50% off. It's one of the most frustrating things working there. I have to explain all week that the ad says "up to 50%" and then they'll ask what is 50% off and I'll have to show them some crappy DS game or something.Of course it's up to 50%, so most things are at either 10-20% off msrp. It's just typical marketing BS.

You can always pick up something with the gift card. If later you decide you don't want it, you can return it and they will give you a new gift card *hint*Yeh, my mario themed gift card expires 1/31. They really got me by the balls this month :X

I think the 60 GB (CECHA01) have held up pretty well (far better than the first-generation X360, at least). At this point, though, I think a Slim + a PS2 Slim is your best bet for BC -- at least you can buy them both new and have them under warranty.
I've still got a decent-sized PS2 collection, but I'm going to see how well PCSX2 works for the games I care about, and maybe get a PS2 slim later if I need to.

I just took the receipt in. I said they had a 30 day return policy which my console was still eligible for return, I saw their $50 gift card offer in the ad on the same SKU, and that I wanted the $50 gift card. The whole thing took two minutes.

I took the ad and my receipt to Best Buy, yesterday, and got myself a $25 for the price match.
I bought the XBOX with gift cards, so it was just a free $25 GC.

Why can't anyone have a deal on dc Universe
Probably had to do with Sony announcing the release date only a few weeks ahead of time so nobody had time to get a deal in place.

I just bought a new PS3 on 12/31. Took the receipt in to BB today and got a $50 gift card. Great post!Yeah of course, bring in the receipt and they'll simply do a return/repurchase so you can get the $50 GC. As far as the paying with a GC the return will show that and still will come up as correct.

Hey, one of my Targets has the Halo Reach 360 controller for $47. I'm not sure if it's YMMV, cuz they had 2 pegs, one peg still had the $60 tag on it, and the other one had a printed $47 tag stuck on top.
If it is YMMV, Best Buy has it for $50. Still cheaper, Walmart.com has it for $40 w/ site-to-store, but of course that price isn't good in store by itself. It was $30 the other day, but it went OOS, and is now back up.
