Hey everyone, anyone here use an Itouch 4g for gaming? I'm thinking of getting an Itouch 4g for it's many business apps but I can't help but hope for some fun gaming time on it too. Anyone use one of these bad boys for games? It's obviously not going to be the same as playing Halo Reach on my 360, but I'm hoping for more than checkers like I had on my Zune HD before it had an incident with a car door... :(

As a follow up question, does anyone keep track of the amazon prices on one of these? I could swear a few days ago a 32 gig was going for 260 but when I looked today it said 275. Does amazon tend to have random sales or something? If it'll save me 15 bucks I'll wait a few weeks but if it's likely to not change, I may as well order one now. Thanks a ton!

I've been doing a LOT of research and the Touch is quite an appealing platform for gaming, and I plan on getting one in the next few months.

Some more "Core" experiences that are already out or coming soon are a pretty competent looking Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 4, they have a version of RE: Mercenaries coming soon, Gameloft does a bunch of decent clones of big console titles (God of War, Uncharted, GTA, etc...)

There are also a lot of great looking original titles as well, though. I'm really excited to try out "Galaxy on Fire 2", "Aralon", and Worldinwar.com has an online demo of their really awesome turn-based strat game.

And if you are a big Halo player and like multiplayer shooters, you could try N.O.V.A. and N.O.V.A. 2 whih are Gameloft's take on the Halo franchise.

I'm honestly really psyched to get a Touch. The combination of game prices, all the free games and frequent sales, indie innovation, and both mobile and console-style games on a mobile are all very appealing.

I see a lot of the 16Gb Touches going for mostly $225 but I'm sure you can find a deal or two around if you look hard enough. Bare in mind that if you order it from Apple.com you get free engraving, if that appeals to you.

Well the engraving doesn't make sense to me after my years of experience with the older ipods, zunes, and zune HDs. I'm by no means a clutz but hey, stuff happens and no matter how much I baby my 300 dollar device, it's going to get dropped or be swiping against it (keys, phone, other mechanical things). After much learning the hard way, I protect my devices with a zagg shield on the screen and a hard/silicone case for the body. It doesn't much matter what I have written on the back, it'll be covered up.

These things drop. I baby my devices yet unless it stays in it's box, its going to come into hard contact with things so I highly suggest spending the extra 2 to 20 bucks on either a flexible silicone case ( it's soft and grippy) or a hardcase (protects better though a little more clunky).

You know, we've waaaaaay reached the point where "slim" matters. If it's under an inch thick, it'll fit in your pocket and I have zero problem adding a little thinkness in my pocket to know I'm keeping my investment safe. I highly suggest you do the same my friend.

In your research, have you noticed price fluctuations? I've only recently been looking at the Itouch but I know for other electronics Amazon will vary from 8 to 15 percent off on stuff like that. Thoughts?

I honestly hadn't been looking for sales much, as I've heard that Apple stuff is ridiculously priced anyways and I wasn't expecting to find any sorts of deals on new merchandise. Honestly, this is the first Apple product I'm buying so perhaps that is where my misconception came from.

Poking about now I find that both Amazon and Walmart have the 8Gb model for less than $210 whereas Apple.com is still selling it @ $229. These prices are all for the 8Gb models.

I'm alllll about protecting my investment. Even my cellphone has a hard case. Do you have any particular hard cases that you would recommend ? I'd be fine with a more expensive one, as I'm sure you know, an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure :)

The Otterbox without question in a hardcase. You can literally run it over with a cement truck and it won't break your device. I've seen drops as far as 3 stories and it didn't break (though I'm sure the Itouchs inside parts will be doomed). You can even submerse the whole thing in water and it's fine. My friend has it for his Iphone 4 and I had it for an older ipod and it's like wrapping your device in Chuck Norris's fist. lol

And yes, Amazon prices are always cheaper and fluctuate. Anyone know how far down it's went on the Itouch 4g yet?

Watch Target for deals on the Ipod Touch. They often throw in a $25-$50 Giftcard depending on the model. Not a great deal but better than the discount Amazon will be offering.
