Several CAG's have PM'D w/?'s about this so I'll just make it easy and put it out there for everyone. This is a current Target price match.

BB will PM gift card offers if they aren't offering a gift card at that time they just deduct the gift card value in this case $50 (Target's current deal).

Make sure u have a copy of the ad printed or on ur smartphone, also have a copy of their price match policy printed or on ur smartphone. Make the purchase @ CS b/c getting an override can b a pain for the ppl in line behind u and a $50 override will require a supervisor.

U get the $5 RZ cert in 30-35 days for spending over $250(pre-tax) grab some gum or a soda to go over the $250.

The $25 GC is from the current coupon book which expires 2/12, it's a spend $100/$250/$500 get a $10/$25/$50 gift card.$

MAKE SURE u give the CS rep the coupon AFTER THE OVERIDE IS COMPLETED!!! or u will pay $299.99 + tax and get a $75 GC + $5 in RZ cert instead!!! I prefer to "payless get more" instead but it's up to u.

If u already used the coupon or didn't get the coupon book text RZ to 332211.

There u have it 160 GB PS3 for essentially $220 + tax or tax free if ur in DE.

FYI: I drive for a living and have done the GC PM for systems and games in stores in PA, DE, and S. NJ so no this isn't YMMV have the ad and the PM policy with u.$

Sorry forgot to copy BB's policy

How do you handle a price match if an instant gift card is included with a purchase?

The value of an instant gift card with purchase will be considered when calculating a price match. If the combined value of a competitor's product and instant gift card is lower than the combined value of Best Buy's product price and instant gift card, Best Buy will match either the price or the instant gift card value, depending on the offer.

Is there any way to get that coupon book other than through text message (is it in that little envelope fulls of coupons that comes every month or so for rewards members?)
I tried buy my local best buy does not match gift cards only prices.
Did you follow his instructions fully? I am quite interested in trying if more people have success

It's not in the little postcard size monthy coupon pack, it's the larger than a DVD case booklet that says "dream big beginning Jan 29" with a guy watching tv on the cover. Log on the BB RZ site or check online maybe someone will send u one. I've already used mine other wise I'd send u one. I've used copies b/c they can b rescanned plus BB emails me the reg. coupons. Hope this helps

CountChoculitis
Did u have a copy of their PM policy? I've been denied too but when I show them their policy done deal...Dorothy from the BB forums page has assisted me wit this in the past u can PM her or print out her explanation of the policy on the BB forums page and show this to CS as well. It's their policy don't let them bully u out of it. The manager that denies u will not want corporate calling them out on their own policy trust me.

InfinityCartier
u can still price match this offer as long as it's w/i 30 days or 45 days if ur a silver member.
If you find a lower advertised price on the same available brand and model prior to your purchase or during the exchange and return period, we will match that price. Simply bring in the ad of the local retail competitor or Best Buy, while the lower price is in effect and receive your price match.

Why wait I can't line it up any better? The only other I way I can make it easier is to go into BB and buy it for ppl but then all the RZ points would b on my card and that would defeat the purpose plus shipping.

The Best Buy where I am at (Marquette, MI) just opened up a couple months ago so maybe it is just new people, but yes I tried this a couple weeks ago and again today and both times with 2 different CS's they said they do not match gift card deals, even when I showed them the policy.

YMMV though and it appears to have worked for some people so I would at least try it at your local best buy rather than not trying at all just because it did not work for me.

If I was home in Grand Rapids where there is more than one Best Buy I probably could have got 1 out of the 4 to do it I bet. Cant wait til May though so I just bought one last week with Amazons $50 credit deal.
Has anyone tried this in the Philly area?
Me I live in between the willow grove and Montgomeryville store. My job is near Fort Washington so I also shop at the Plymouth meeting and King of Prussia stores. The one on the boulevard will check their website to confirm their policy everytime. I deliver in Princeton NJ so I shop at both on RT. 1 Princeton and Brunswick... The oxford valley store has a good selection of clearance games if u want to take advantage of BB buy one get one 50% off.
Can someone please link to this BB forum with the explanation - I couldn't find it. Thanks
Sorry I don't know how to link but just google "toysrus Blur $40 gift card offer" it's the 6th one from august of 2010.

I found the official mobile site with the coupon, can i just print it out and show them?

EDIT: It says that the coupon excludes video game hardware, so im guessing that part is YMMV

If I didn't already have a PS3 or if I wanted a newer one, I would try to jump through these hoops for one. Also I think the OP didn't account for those of us that are members of the Gamers Club. I think if you are a member of the Gamers club you would essentially receive about $20 worth of certs in the long run if you do this not just $5. Correct me if I am wrong.

I'm in the gamers club and my PS2/PS3/PSP system purchases didn't have the spend $150 on gaming bonus...that would make this unbeatable and I'd buy another PS3.

ToxicSteve
I used a coupon previously on psp and bunch of other items and didn't need an overide it just registered once I hit the specific $ amount.

Isn't there going to be a problem with getting a price match and then using an additional promotion? My BB has shot me down multiple times, saying that once they pricematch, nothing else can be applied. Is there an official ruling on the BB forums allowing this?

Burger96

"MAKE SURE u give the CS rep the coupon AFTER THE OVERIDE IS COMPLETED!!!"

I always spend to the max in order to get the largest GC amount but even with the price match I got the $50 gift card for spending over $500. Simply put I price match @ BB alot I always have my receipt, ad and policy so they know I mean business. U can always just take all the paperwork directly to CS and ask about the PM once they confirm everything then just got to the register and do the purchase their if u like I just don't like making ppl in line wait for an overide but that's just me.

Enuf............yep, I looked at it again after you replied........systems aren't included. I would complain but it would seem silly as it is complaining to them for not giving me something for nothing that hey didn't promise. The name is why I assumed I suppose......

BB corporate responded concerning their stores not PM gift card offers;

"Well, stores really should be honoring an offer like that and you're recommending some good steps to ensuring that they do.$ Having the policy handy to reference is nice, although should be unnecessary as they should be aware that they do price match gift card offers per the Price Match FAQ:

How do you handle a price match if an instant gift card is included with a purchase?
The value of an instant gift card with purchase will be considered when calculating a price match. If the combined value of a competitor's product and instant gift card is lower than the combined value of Best Buy's product price and instant gift card, Best Buy will match either the price or the instant gift card value, depending on the offer.

The only other step I would recommend is that they (kindly) request a manager to speak with if they are denied the price match at first so they can evaluate the request more from a more experienced perspective.$ Otherwise, you can also call us (Corporate) at 888-BEST BUY (888-237-8289) while in the store to see if one of our Reps can work with the store management on the issue.
$
I can't say with absolute certainty that the stores are wrong in denying the price match given that I don't have all of the details but, on the surface, this does sound like an offer they should be honoring."

i hate these price match threads. the topic always makes it seems like its an actual deal for BB, but its just a YMMV best buy PM of another deal. lammmmme

My Best Buy always matches GCs, but they have told me several times that you can't use any coupon in combination with a PM: it's one or the other. Just fyi.

well, my expereince tonight taught me alot.

First off, having knowledge upfront is key, and patience as well

The coupon for the $25 says excludes consoles so i didnt get that.

But, i grabbed the system and went to service desk with the ad in hand and a tidbit that may help others. The girl said they dont match GC prices, and even asked some mystery guy behind a wall that wasnt the manager. I said, im pretty sure you do, as it is listed on your company site. I asked if they had access to google and i can show them.

She checked with the mystery guy again, and said ok. I had her pull up google and said to search for "best buy price match policy" and had her click the first result. then scroll down to the right and click best buy retail store policy, and its about half way down it says

"How do you handle a price match if an instant gift card is included with a purchase?
The value of an instant gift card with purchase will be considered when calculating a price match. If the combined value of a competitor's product and instant gift card is lower than the combined value of Best Buy's product price and instant gift card, Best Buy will match either the price or the instant gift card value, depending on the offer."

she read that, called over mystery guy and the manager, and then said your right, and proceeded to ring me up for the 249.99 price. Skip the checkout line and just hit the customer service desk instead. Should be pretty easy, given targets are usually always near a best buy anyway.

Yeah, most Best Buys will match almost any ad without hassle - some do seem to need to be shown their own policies though.

As far as the $25 GC for spending $250 - Good luck with that as the coupon states that video game hardware and accessories are excluded.

If you get them to allow it you're lucky - if you have gotten it done post a receipt for proof that people can use to try and get their stores to match as well.

Also, why not just buy the system at Target instead of waiting in line at Best Buy?

If you want an extended policy it's so much cheaper and if you have their visa card you get 5% off at the start.

Best Buy will more than likely be busy at customer service and will have to call and check that Target has the item in stock.

I love to save money like anyone else but my time is valuable too.

Just my 2 cents

so in other words, all best buy is doing right now is price matching Target's price which is $299.99 and they're discounting the $50 gift card bringing down the price to $249.99 right? not too shabby. anything else out there that we can add to sweeten the deal?

I can guarantee you that in District 22, Florida, Store 1424, they will not pricematch the gift card value.

I took a copy of Target's ad, BB's Retail price match policy, and the PS3 to customer service and at every step, they denied it. Even 30 minutes on the phone with Customer Service while i was standing in line, them calling the store, they refused.

Their argument was that, the way they interpret the policy, they are only obligated to pricematch the value of the item and gift card from a competitor if Best Buy itself is offering the item and gift card. Essentially, no freebies.

I understand, it's a 40 buck loss for the store, selling a PS3 at 249.99. But that's a deceptive practice by not following their stated policy, and possibly legally so in my state. To say nothing of the early issue I had at a different store, same district, in pricematching the TUS $48 games deal. "They'd do it for me this one time," "You have too many coupons!"(using the 100/250/500 code AND the 15 off Arkham Asylum)

Glad u got ur system

I wind up spending over $500 everytime I've gotten the coupon, so even if there were to deny the console it still rings up the $50 GC it just goes by total dollar amount.
I can guarantee you that in District 22, Florida, Store 1424, they will not pricematch the gift card value.

"the way they interpret the policy" the whole point of a policy is to not leave room for interpretation fully how big business get stuff wrong.

Post your experience on BB forums page one of their reps will contact you and the store. They'll make it right my guess is by refunding the gift card amount like the should've or if you contact the reward zone # they usually give the points for more than you lost to compensate for your time.

Don't let them bully you.

Writing letters to corporate is the next step. It can work, too, and sometimes is the only way to get attention. A real letter beats a phone call any day.

Does this work the other way around? In other words, does target have the same policy? Because this deal is going on at best buy this week but not at target.
Does this work the other way around? In other words, does target have the same policy? Because this deal is going on at best buy this week but not at target.
unfortunately only BB has the great PM policy I think Target won't match "sale" prices only regular prices. Pretty much every week over the last 6-8 weeks there's been a gift card offer on systems.

Even better is having sent in a written complaint to my state's AG alleging BB violated the Deceptive And Unfair Trade Practices Act.

My Best Buy pulls this shit too, and won't follow their own price match policy. I basically don't shop there any more as a result.

What's an AG? Also is that a government office where you can file a complain regarding retail problems? It would be nice to scare this managers.

^^^ Agreed 100%. I hate these kinds of threads too. Particularly when they involve sketchy things like trying to use coupons that already exclude the items people are trying to use them on. Really lame.
