Good to see the long shows back, just in time for me to listen whilst I lose games and msp in NHL 11.

Edit: Swell show fellas, I was hoping you guys would talk briefly about Undead Labs announcement that they are working with Microsoft on a zombie survival MMO Franchise. They plan to release 2 games, first an xbl arcade 2 player game which will include the core mechanics and the basic word. They will then use that game as the foundation in the MMO which they will develope and release later. I know none of you are mmo gamers but this game sounds nothing like a traditional MMO, and the first of it's kind to be designed and released exclusively for the xbox. Check out they're Rude Q&A - Here

Also would love to know your thoughts on this indie developer who raised over 10,000 via Kickstarter to fund his Dinosaur-mech-fps game thing. I know cheapy chrome dome mcdeep-pockets is going to show up in saints row 3 sometime this year, but here is wombat and shipwrecks chance! For a mere $1000 donation these indie guys will not only put you in the game they will name an achievement after you and give you a unique multiplayer weapon. Check out they're video and donation packages over on kickstarter - Here

^Boom there's next weeks whole show right there. Thoughts? Best xbox exclusive since halo? Water-Soluble Wombat achievement?

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Edit: again stop talking about WoW, you know nothing about the game and how it is played. They have mobile auction house apps that also allow you to chat with people in-game for iPhone and Android now and that is pretty all you could want and need for on the go. They also charge $2.99 for this I believe.

With the upcoming SSX game, I am still holding out hope for a HD SSX Collection. SSX 3 was my favorite game from the last generation. The collection could just include SSX Tricky and SSX 3 and I'd be happy. The first SSX could be included as historic piece, since it was only released on PS2 so not as many played it. SSX On Tour was good, but pales in comparison to the ambitious SSX 3.

While I'm ranting... I hope they don't ruin SSX with a "serious" game. Amped 3 changed from the realistic, breaktaking rush of Amped 2 to a goofy cartoony style and as a result, the series lost its identiity. To me, SSX is known for two things: Crazy Ubertricks and Fully Voiced (and distinctive) characters. As much as I like create-a-character in most games, I want SSX characters in SSX! If they don't bring back Bif Naked to voice Zoe Payne, I'm out!

I wish more companies would invest in making HD collections. Instead of remaking the original Halo, they could HD-ify the first two in one package, and create a single updated multiplayer component. Microsoft has done it before, with the excellent Dead Or Alive Ultimate on the old Xbox. Plus, if they were like Sony's Collections, I'd really enjoy replaying my favorite old games for 1000 gamerscore each game, rather than just 200 like the upcoming HD version of Beyond Good and Evil.

Why am I bringing all of this up? As a way to save the Tony Hawk franchise.
If they made new games for XBLA, it would probably end up being episodic and feeling like you were paying too much for only a partial game, such as with Sonic 4.
And for whatever reason, sequels to XBLA games seem like they come out too fast. I don't know why. Retail games can have sequels each year, and while they can become cumbersome, their release seems acceptable. But Mega Man 10 and Bionic Commando 2 made me think, "Already??" even though it had been two years or so since their last game.
So why not instead repackage the "classic mode" Tony Hawk 1 - 3 in an HD Collection, and the "open world" TH4, THUG and THUG2 into another HD collection? I think they'd be safe, cheap bets to garner goodwill from old fans to remind them why they like the series.

Or I'm just too lazy to dig out my old Xbox and want these companies to cater to my needs! That's what being a consumer is all about!

Thank you guys for confirming my suspicions that Microsoft had advertised the Kinect Show by focusing on the girl's chest for the ad. I had been wondering that when I first saw it, but never saw anything about it later.

Pretty decent show so far.

Shipwreck will be glad to hear that L.A. Noire will definitely have a more narrow scope than Red Dead or GTA, mainly since it won't really be mission based in the way you'd usually associate with Rockstar games. It'll mostly involve you getting cases from various departments within the LAPD (first as a beat cop on patrol, then vice, then arson and then homicide) so it'll be much more centralized in that regard. Though technically you will be able to freely roam LA if you want. They've also said that you'll sometimes get word of accidents, robberies, etc. (basically side quests) that have just happened or are in progress on your police radio and you'll be able to go and investigate if you so desire. But they've stressed many times in various previews and interviews that this is not Grand Theft Auto. You're playing a good cop and a war hero. No random killing sprees or picking up missions from various criminals. They want you to focus on the narrative and the various cases that you acquire.

Looks damn good, IMO. That facial animation tech they're using is unbelievable. Also, Aaron Staton and John Noble as part of the cast? Sign me up. As long as they can deliver on the investigation elements (and if any of the Team Bondi interviews are anything to go by, they will) I think it could be something really special.

(oh, and as I've said numerous times, Ship is crazy for not liking Red Dead )

At first I was upset with Shipwreck tweeting a bad review to Stacking. But I've gotta say Stacking on the PS3 was worth the free price tag for me playing for 1 hour. Listening to the Cagcast I have to agree with Shipwreck and CheapyD but I want to try to go back but the puzzles and stuff but they are just not enjoyable to me as well. I think it focuses on a certain audience, I'm just not one of them. My 9 year old though wants to play because he thinks it looks cool.

I don't like Killzone 3 with the move controller because if I point to far to the side in moves the screen, which I only want to move the screen with my analog stick. Plus I don't want to stab forward while playing on the shooter. When reviewing games like this, should it be important to have what controller you used when playing the game as it can change your opinion of the title? What effects(if any) do you think that Socom 4 beta access being included in Killzone 3 will effect sales?

Kudos for CheapyD liking Playstation Plus, the patches for games I believe doesn't update anything you havn't played within 6 months.

I got mentioned on this week's show! It actually made my day. Thanks Wombat (even though i called you a condescending douche).

xoxoxo,
skadave

I've been listening to the CAGCast for about three years and I've notice a recent turn in cagcast discussions. You guys seemed very focused on what the general consumer will like and if a game will sell, guess what guys, the mass consumer isn't listening to a video game podcast. It's nice to hear fellow enthusiasts discussing games but I don't want to hear you guys rambling on about the mass market. Also, Wombat, WoW on a portable? People play WoW to immerse themselves in an alternate reality, why the hell would they play it in there own reality! Know one wants to play WoW on a train, and you're starting to come off as stupid talking about things you literally no nothing about.

Great show this week! I like going back to the longer format, but I was a little disappointed Cheapy that you didn't go for the 3D plus Move to try out Killzone 3. I know I have no way to try out the full combination and of course I trust your opinion on these things more than from other sources (Wombat and Shipwreck would of course put you two in the same category, just Cheapy is sooo close to having the full experience).

Overall was great and can't wait until next weeks show already!

Not to dig my hole deeper, but if you do a quick google search you will there tons of videos & articles about people making their WOW experience portable. Whether is be with netbooks or a hacked PSP. Just because you don't want to play a portable WOW doesn't mean there isn’t a market for a fully portable version of one the most popular games ever.

I'm pretty disappointed that you guys almost forgot to mention TDU2 with the new releases and pretty much didn't talk about it or give any input. I guess you really had to be fans of the first one to understand. A lot of people loved the first game (it was one of the first few racers on the 360 besides the launch titles), they explored the hell out of it and wanted more. We thought a sequel would never see the light of day until it was announced a little over a year ago. I gladly pre-ordered the game 6 months ago when GS first advertised they would have the Casino DLC. I picked it up on release day and almost got a gutted copy b/c the clerk said people had been picking it up all day and they only had 4 copies left.

As soon as I played it, I realized it was almost completely different than the original, but contained subtle cues and nods to the first game. From the start, the driving was less stiff and felt better. Then my mind was blown when I was given the option to choose b/t 3 distinct driving options ('arcade', sports, hardcore) I had been playing Forza 3 and GT5 for the past month, and it was nothing like them. Rather, I was reminded of NFS: Hot Pursuit with the way the vehicles drove in the fully-assisted 'arcade' mode. The fact that there is a story line (why did we all come to hate story lines in our racers? with TDU2, its a breath of fresh air it seems..) and that your character can quasi-walk around (you're really just moving the camera) is a really neat addition over the first. There is way more to explore and achieve, and an off-road vehicle and track selection just seals the deal.

Cheapy, I thought you would have at least tried this, being the biggest fan of racers on the show. If you're getting stuck in NFS:HP, then I don't see why you wouldn't try this, as its the freshest thing. Hell, even at a $50 price point, I would consider buying you a copy just so you could spend 2 minutes on it the next time ;)

Wombat was bashing the racing Genre as dead the other week, I knew they wouldn't bring it up today. Personally, i love Forza, NFS, Gran Turismo and Burnout. I can't say that I want to even buy another racer. Only the most elite fans would buy every racing game. I didn't notice Test Drive Unlimited 2 was even being released and I listen to a lot of different podcasts. So this isn't the only show ignoring the title. Most of my friends havn't gotten this game or even talked about it and they like to race. Maybe it will catch on in time? I added it to my gamefly today.

HELL YEA, gimme more lightbulb stories!

Sucks to hear about Stacking = lacking. Seems like it's not a must have game atm. Maybe I'll wait for a XBLA sale instead.

And yes, Dead Space 2 is AWESOME. Pimp it yo.

Darn cheapassgamer.co is taken... they still have these very attractive suggestions though:

The chick from the Kinect Show is Bridget O'Neill. I have to concur that Xbox throws her tits at you but I do not mind in the least.

I think "Top Analyst" should have a scoring system! The other two hosts can give the prediction a point ranking of 1, 2 or 3 depending on how unlikely they think it is and the predictor will receive those points if their prediction comes true.

Don't quote me on this but I think the demo for Tales From Space: About A Blob was available for free a week early to PS+ members, and the full game was released a week early to PS+ members, but still cost the normal $14.99.

Also, I haven't played Stacking yet but was disappointed to hear that all 3 of you basically thought it sucked. The reviews I've seen were all pretty positive. Frankly I am biased toward Double Fine simply because they are trying new things, and imagine I'll end up liking the game, but we'll see.

One interesting thing about Stacking is that it's the second game (Costume Quest being the first) of a 4 game series of games from Double Fine that were conceived during a 2 week "motivational exercise".

They basically split Double Fine into 4 teams and each team had 2 weeks to come up with a game. One team came up with Costume Quest, another with Stacking, and of course the other 2 games from that project have yet to be announced. Here's a short article on it from 1up from back in July.

Using "Know" and "no" incorrectly while calling someone else stupid is very amusing.

And there are plenty of Wow addicts who would like to be able to play it and get some quests in while they commute.

how will you get service underground? there's already a portable wow machine; its called a laptop.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what the name of the Intro music for LAST WEEK's episode #227 is? Several people posting on that show thread have been asking for the song name to no avail. Cheapy listed it as "Super Duper Mario" in the ShowNotes but a good 30min of Googling and YouTubing yielded nothing for me. Also, I'm pretty sure I hear a Ludacris voice sample in there from the song 'Stand Up', but still, nothing! Help!

I'm in the same boat as you, Cheapy: can't play Dead Space 2 any further until my girlfriend feels like watching it too. Which is next to never. XS

When it comes to the third True Crime, personally, I'm disappointed. I remember loving the first True Crime, no matter how bad it was at times. I never got around to playing the second one, so I can't comment on the newest iteration, but as far as memories for the game go, I'm upset. Same with the death of Guitar Hero. I've always liked GH over Rock Band, not because of the song choices or the song transfer ability, but because of the smoothness of gameplay. Every time I've played Rock Band, the game randomly slows down, and it made hittng the notes next to impossible. Never happened with GH, so I was much happier with that.

On the Hudson note, even if Hudson America closing doesn't mean much to you guys, to me, it means we get no new Bloody Roar games. v.v The new game that was planned here in North America got canned with Hudson America's closing. *cry*

The Fox article... good spot on noticing it was an old EGM writer. That's actually a bit of a shocker. =S
It's also been discovered that a good amount of the quotes taken from those interviewed were taken vastly out of context to fit with the direction of the article, so essentially, we just have more proof that Fox screws around with their articles for a higher readership/viewership.
Also, I feel as though I have to comment on something Cheapy said: "It's Fox, who cares?", or something similar. Unfortunately, Fox is the second highest viewed news distributor in the United States, so there are many people that choose to see this news, and will likely see it as the truth. v.v

To Wombat (and I suppose to Cheapy and Shipwreck too): What is it about Bulletstorm that you don't care much for? I tried the demo a week ago, and I found it much more interesting than most other FPS games coming out soon. Maybe it was the fact that there were only so many Skill Kills you could do?

I have a topic you guys could comment on for Top Analyst, too. Recently, Randy Pitchford stated a few different potential sales numbers for Duke Nukem Forever, and what the chances for a sequel would be. The numbers ranged from under 1 million, to 2.5 million and higher. How many copies do you all think DNF is going to sell within, say, the first 2 - 3 weeks?

Good show, guys, I've never had so much to comment on. XD

Not every train in the world travels underground.

I think you guys are probably missing why people feel you're bias or not fair with regard to the Playstation systems. If you're trying to create the illusion that you're as fair as you can be the least you could do is know if games is or isn't released on the PSN. When none of you are able to recall the name of a PS3 title or if a game that you played on XBA was released on PSN, it shows a lack of research, credibility or professionalism. That's what leads to questions about you possible bias. I know you made it clear that you're not really into the PS3 but if you're trying to provide information, knowing what came out on one or two services isn't difficult. Step it up.

It's hard to consider them biased based on their lack of information about PS3 games. They provide a broad, unbiased range of misinformation. They couldn't even name the SSX games (There is no "SSX2") and that was even a series they enjoyed.

These guys are gamers not supreme court judges. They are allowed a preference, so relax. Shipwreck is out there every week just plowing through obscure terrible wii games for you. How can you complain?

Shipwreck, I think a better prediction for Darkness 2 would've been that it won't be released this fall.

I'll make a prediction and say that Nintendo will release a game in a franchise this year that NO ONE will see coming. Jaws will drop, eyebrows will be raised, minds will asplode.

SSX Tricky was great! If any game should get remade with 3D that's the one. A 3DS version would also work

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed Bridget O'Neil. During the first couple weeks the ol' lady walked while I was checking out "The Kinect Show" and first thing she noticed was her boobs. I guess if it works do, it. (honestly, I'd go for her)

Anyone who hasn't see the videos:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Community/InsideXbox/The-Kinect-Show

I think the Kinect Show Episode 8 is the one Cheapy saw

Also, I liked SSX 3 and Tricky, but I don't think I'm interested in the new SSX. Looks like they sucked the fun out of it. I hope I am wrong.

On the portable MMO from did you forget about the "JUNGLE"

The Wraith - "He's heaven sent and hell on wheels!"

I remember that movie.

BTW - "Puttin it on you" just means good poon tang. Not necessarily sexually aggressive. Can be, doesn't have to be.

I usually never post in threads, but I logged in JUST to say this. The comments about the Kinect Show Girl was one of the funniest things I've heard you guys talk about.

The reason for this is because I actually KNOW her. Her name is Bridget O'neall, and she's a youtuber and a close friend of mine. Since she was on the kinect show I've begun watching it, and she's a wonderful person and gorgeous to boot.

Keep up the great work, guys, love the show.
