Best thing to happen to gaming since the NES.

And if you look hard enough you can likely find a PS2 compilation for the Konami games and probably even find the rest somewhere for much cheaper than $3500.

Hell. A couple of years ago Target had a mini arcade machine they eventually clearanced out for a couple hundred bucks that had a good number of old school games on it.

Not that I don't love these classic games, sometimes moreso than their current gen counterparts, but three grand plus for a computer in a cabinet with a smaller sized HDtv may be worth it to some but not to me.

You can buy an arcade cabinet that doesn't have the gimmicky tap and refrigerator for much less, but for people with that much cash to burn, I suppose it's not bad.

Having a fridge in it is stupid. That was a "just because we can" moment. I'm sure they use the crappiest 26" TV they can find considering they actually say on their website they use a refurbished desktop PC with Windows XP.

I could build one of those myself fairly easily, for at the very most, half the price and still include the stupid fridge + tap. Without the fridge, you could probably make a nicer custom MAME for around a grand.

That thing is horrible in ways I can't even count. Whoever designed that thing has ZERO clue about arcade games and cabinets. Widescreen? Um, yeah - tons of 80s and 90s games used widescreen, right? The button layout? They aren't supposed to be 2" apart and also no arcade game that I can think of ever used 8 buttons per player.

I mean I suppose you could use a 360 as the guts and get use out of the widescreen and 8 buttons but how many games are suited to that - also the joysticks are 8-ways and not analog. I also can't wait to break my hand on the cutout right in front of the trackball during some Golden Tee (because that's the game you play when drinking, trust me).

The worst though is the fact that the joysticks are angled so "up" isn't really even up - this whole thing just makes me want to puke. Oh yeah - I forgot about the kegerator. Yeah, condensation and electronics go really well together. This is so bad I can't believe they would sell even one... OK rant over...

It's easier to build your own and customize it. Mine also has 8 buttons per player but I found that to be the best setup. Not only could I run emulated PS games, I arranged it to have both the 4x1 setup like the Neo Geo cabs and a 3x2 for any fighting games.

These are meant for people without the tools to build a cab or a place to purchase an old cab to convert. I've seen better kits anyway.

what he said. theres been a few people on cag who have done that and shown the final results and its pretty cool. one day id like to do one with a cocktail cabinet and all you need to run the games is mame.
Wow. Tough crowd. Just having a little fun.
It's not a knock against you, but if you're interested there are better ways to go about it and for cheaper. That's why you're here after all.

I'd display mine but the site hosting my collection pics went away. I'd rather not use a photo site since there's a lot of pics (just one of the machine though). I need storage where I can put a small HTML page linking to everything.

My coin doors work. I have neon lights that flash to the music if you're playing DDR/PiU style games. Pinball buttons, a spinner, a PC trackball since there wasn't enough room in my panel for an arcade one, lit custom marquee, etc. The only thing is the monitor is like 15 or 17 inches and while it's fine for me doesn't really fill the cab.

Heh, yeah - I'm always ranting on this type of stuff. I've built several cabs and I've got a couple I'm in the middle of right now. It is always easier to build one yourself and whenever I see one for sale commercially it is always a huge ripoff and not completely functional - still, it's a fun idea in theory (but probably not in practice). :D

I prefer to sit down and play my games on a larger screen. The cost would probably be comparable if not less to download every single one of these on a console.

The cost would be thousands less to just download them on PC and play them on whatever you feel like.

There's a reason we do it. Sometimes these games aren't the same when played with a KB. Ya gotta have the full effect with lights, real pushbuttons, joysticks, trackballs, and the exciting sound of coins dropping into the slot. When used as a glorified piggybank you should see the quarters saved. I think damn near 20 pounds if not more.

Mine is full of arcade games I never got to play because our best arcade closed in the 80's and we haven't had anything better than a mall food-court craphole with more redemption games than not. I gotta go on vacation to find a good arcade. Many of these aren't available by other means. There's nothing current on there though.

I managed to find a new host and fix my site. Here's the pic of my machine. Bought the shell of the cab (it was a broken Tekken at one point) but installed/built the rest. This is from several years ago, if I wasn't so busy with my console backlog I'd revise the machine and use it more.

^^^ very cool. Last summer I saw an old arcade cabinet on a curb. Drove right home switched with the wife's van and 20 mins when I came back it was gone!! That's as close as I got to building a mame.

Oh and yeah OP, pretty expensive and lame

Looks good LottaGames. I've posted mine on CAG before (also check my sig) but what the heck... hare are 2 of mine in the house currently:
