The new Duke Nukem Forever website is pretty rockin' and I figured it's about time this game gets it's own thread. Those of you in the U.S., mark your calendars for May 3rd, May 6th everywhere else.

Click to enlarge Balls of Steel!

Pre-order Duke Nukem Forever and you may get a code to join the First Access Club which gives members access to exclusive Duke Nukem media including early access to the demo! Furthermore there is a Balls of Steel Edition coming out as well as pre-order exclusive DLC. More information on the official website.

Anyone that has Borderlands for steam check your CD keys for the first access code.Use the code on the site to sign up.The site is awesome btw.

It is worth noting that Duke Nukem Forever will be using Steamworks so all retail copies will be activated on steam upon installation. Some good news for those in Germany and Australia is that Duke Nukem Forever will be released in all of its uncut glory in both countries (as well as having the option of using English voices). I predict the demo codes for PC will be one time use activation codes for Steam and by that time Steam should have a Duke Nukem Forever page on their site.

I've been playing through my copy of Duke 3d I bought from GOG and I literally cannot help but shout out all the best Duke lines. "Eat shit and die. There's plenty of Duke to go around." Still not 100% sold on Forever. Nostalgia can only go so far.

I have my copy preordered from Amazon. I don't care how bad the game is at this point, it's fucking Duke Nukem Forever, my love of Duke forces me to buy it. Plus gearbox is finishing it and I want to support them in hopes of Borderlands 2.

I believe we are still getting Borderlands 2 (rumored to be titled Borderworlds). It may even be in development. As for Duke, this is still the 3D Realms game, only being completed and polished thanks to Gearbox and Triptych (made up of members of the old team). I'm sure it will feel just like Duke Nukem of the 90s but be a little more modern in terms of visuals, references, level of interactivity, etc.

What is interesting is if Duke Nukem Forever was not delayed, it would be released today in North America and on the 6th everywhere else. Hopefully we get some new media today and if we do I'll update the thread.

EDIT: Updated with System Requirements.

Gearbox would be stupid not to make a sequel to Borderlands considering how much it sold.

Any word on the demo? I have the game on order and looks like the one PC I have will run it fine. I will be glad when this thing comes out. I still wont hold my breath on it coming out on time till I have it in my PC playing it.

LOL! What if that little kid who asks for Duke's autograph is actually little Serious Sam? haha. Even better, I hope there's a poke at Sam in this game.

Many are predicting it could release as early as tomorrow so you may have tomorrow to look forward to but don't get your hopes up.

If I may be so demanding, are there any sources on that demo prediction, Andrew?

I've been debating the whole pre-order thing for a while due to the lack of demo news.

Although, with the pre-order up on Steam, I'd say the time is right for a pre-order.

I suspect we may get some news on that demo but I doubt it'll appear today. Next week or the week after is more likely.

Also I added a link regarding details on how to save 15% if you go the Direct2Drive route. It's a Steamworks game so it'll still activate on Steam so you are getting the same thing just a little cheaper.

EDIT: Just got an e-mail asking me to reconfirm my preferred demo platform

"Hello First Access Member!

Thank you again for pre-order Duke Nukem Forever and/or purchasing Borderlands Game of the Year Edition to become a First Access Member! Please help us obtain the most accurate up to date information for your First Access profile.

Please follow the link below and re-confirm your preferred platform of choice for the Duke Nukem Forever demo. You will need to confirm your information by Sunday May 15, 2011. http://www.dukenukemforever.com/access/

Users that currently live in a territory where the demo may not be supported on console will automatically be defaulted to the PC Steam option*.

Thanks again for your help and cooperation,
Gearbox Software

*Platform availability and eligibility is subject to local laws and regulations."

Based on this I speculate a demo in about a week from now.

I was bummed about not getting a First Access code because I expected the demo to be available a month or so before the game's release. I can live with waiting an extra 11 days.

After all, it's been 13 years; A week or so extra isn't awful by any stretch.

Yeah I don't think I am even going to download the demo since it's only 13 days away. Might as well just wait it out. If it was a month or two I would but I am just going to wait.

All right guys, the DEMO is out! Go to your FAC page at http://www.dukenukem.com/access and redeem your code. If you cannot receive a code try to log and and log back in shortly after. I had to log out once and back in after a few minutes to receive mine.

I played a demo at PAX East where you go through a few parts of a few levels. The controls felt horribly janky and the feel in general was pretty bad. I was hoping maybe they had cleaned things up a bit since then but it sounds like they didn't... :/

It's the exact same demo from PAX East.

Lol, so they didn't even bother releasing a proper demo. Classy, but I shouldn't really expect much from the Borderlands devs. I don't even know why I have the game on preorder other than nostalgia. I really should cancel it but I just have this feeling like I owe it to myself as a diehard PC gamer lol.

DON'T JUDGE ME!

Same reason I am buying it. Nostalgia and it's Duke Nukem. Also Gearbox took over the game, so essentially I don't really blame Gearbox because the game is terrible.

I'm hoping that this was a really old version of the game since it's the same demo from last year. Hopefully the reviews will show that it runs better and whatnot. I also noticed that it would perform the same frame rate regardless of whether I lowered all settings or maxed it out.
The two weapon limit fucking killed me inside.

I'm almost certain that this is what Gearbox is hoping for.

The game looks like it was released 10 years ago and all they did was add some high-res textures (and that's being generous). It also plays really, really bad.

This is clearly nothing more than a cash grab. I seriously cant believe people are willing to purchase this trash just because of "nostalgia". You're playing right into what Gearbox wants.

So I happened to win one of the swag bags that Gearbox was giving away and it arrived today.

Inside was a Duke Burger t-shirt and what is referred to as a mousepad:
P1010003.JPG

This mousepad is made out of aluminium by Germans (www.alugraphics.de) and is so weighty and beveled that you could chuck it at an intruder and cut their fucking head off.

The thing is completely insane.

Played the demo, really wasn't all that impressed.
It's too bad Gearbox got ahold of it, the game feels really consolized... (Borderlands was a pretty bad console port too).

Oh well

Well I enjoyed the demo and while it does feel like a game released 2-3 years late, that doesn't take away from the fun. I'm playing through it again on the Come Get Some difficulty and find myself enjoying it more this time around. You can mess around with cheats like DNCLIP and DNWEAPONS (only two I know of that work). You get a good look at the weapons in the game though it's awkward as hell and is not fun to play that way.

If you folks mean the gameplay feels console-ized I can see certain aspects (2 weapon limit probably for balancing purposes, which was 3D Realm's decision to change it and not Gearbox) but the PC version is no port. The game was developed for PC and then ported over to the consoles. Actually I believe the PC version was finished for at least nearly half a year and we had to wait for it to get ported to the 360 and PS3.

I picked up a 360 copy today at Sears. I'll report back on how it is compared to the demo if I decide to play it and not sell it.

I canceled mine yesterday since it's destined for the bargain bin anyways. I'll probably pick it up when it's $2 on Steam this Christmas.

I did that the other day with my CE for the PC. I'm just not sure how well this game will do.

It'll be in the bargain bin within three months. I'd say those who canceled made a smart choice.
