360 repair

Has anyone used the repair shops offering video game repair? My 3-year-old 360 started to consistently freeze yesterday while playing games from Arcade. After clearing caches and unhooking my hard drive today and playing UNO by disc, to have it freeze as well, it seems like the problem is with the console. I live in Michigan and about to go to one of these businesses.

Why not just send it to Microsoft? You can purchase a repair/1-yr-warranty for $99 and before the year is up you can renew an extra two years for $60 I believe. I'm not entirely sure of the pricing though since I sent my Xbox in for repair back in '09.

My reason for not choosing Microsoft is that the local companies charge a lot less ($40-$60) and it would be done within a few hours to maybe a day or two at the most.
