Official Xbox Live Indie Games Thread

I was searching around on here and noticed that there wasn't much of an XBLIG presence. For all of the....how should we say......"mediocre" titles on the platform, there are still a few shining gems as well. Recent big changes to the platform by Microsoft have begun to drive new life into it too. In the past two weeks alone they've implemented the ability for developers to pick a release date after their title passes peer review, but MS has also altered the way the top downloads list appears on Live. A week's worth of XBLIG downloads now appears on the same list as a day's worth of downloads for XBLA and retail titles to offer some publicity to the indie platform.

So with all of that, I ask:

What are some of your favorite XBLIG games? I've been hooked on the lacrosse franchise titles lately, in particular Inside Lacrosse 2011, as I prefer the larger outdoor setting to the smaller box stadium.

Have any of you had the chance to play FortressCraft? What were your thoughts? I believe it needs a bit more polish, but in fairness the developer passed peer review two days ago for his latest update, and now the update is life, thereby addressing a number of bugs and adding additional blocks.

So let's get this thread started!

Protect Me Knight and Shoot1Up are two that I have been having a lot of fun with. I really like that the Indie games aren't restricted by region.

My favourite Indie gamesare still Apple Jack and Soul. Great fun, such a bargain.

I've yet to bite the bullet on Minecraft so I tried Fortresscraft. Seems interesting. Even though it's clearly a rip-off, I'd much rather play around wth building blocks on my xbox than my pc.

Miner Dig Deep is the bomb. Such a simple, great, addicting and relaxing (except when a boulder falls on your head) game. Highly recommended for a buck.

I highly recommend everyone check out Sequence. Pretty unique game for $3, first indie game I could say I felt compelled to buy it and keep playing as soon as the trial expired.

Besides that, I love the two zeboyd RPGs, shoot 1up, explosionade and crossfire.

I've been hearing a lot of great things about Sequence as well. A bit of a different style game for the platform, but very well done, stylized graphics, and a well polished product.

It's developed by a very young guy too, I think he's only 25,

Anyone have a chance to try out Explosive Gas?

It looks like a pretty damn good classic Bomberman clone with nice retro graphics. Supports 8 player online action too. I'm hopin I can get a few of my friends into this one if it turns out to be awesome.

I played the demo for explosive gas, and yeah, it's a lot like bomberman, but you can jump between two levels via these warps. There's also a mode where you can play what is basically bomberman plus minesweeper.

Dave, you stole my avatar!
What did they add in the latest FortressCraft patch? It took forever to come out.
Mainly bug fixes and 16 new blocks, and yeah blame microsoft for making us wait so darn long for it

Yeah I don't know if it was so much Microsoft's fault as it was that of the developer and peer review process.

If someone claims a certain bug occurred, whether or not they can reproduce it, then it is grounds for an automatic fail. Because XBLIG has a "penalty" that is, cool off required to make the changes before they can re-submit for review, it took a lot of time for it to pass.

There was a huge list of titles released this week alone. Each of the past three weeks has received 15+ releases, and with Dream.Build.Play submissions beginning this week, I don't doubt that we'll see some high quality products in the near future, as they both run off the XNA frame work

Shoot 1up is really fun and only 80 pts. Check it out if you are a into the shump genre. Saw it on a youtube list and checked it out and i'm having fun with it. :)

I can recommend Toy Stunt Bike for a buck. It's a Trials type game, but in a toy world. There's only 10 levels, but it's only a buck and is fun, plus three things to try for in each level - time, flags and score (stunts). If you like Trials HD it's fun ripoff. :)

It did make me realize something about Indie games, though - saves are not separated for different profiles, which sucks a bit, since this game only has one save and since it's the first Indie game I've bought that my kids want to play too.

Rise from your grave!

I went on a indie game mini-binge last night and bought Apple Jack, Apple Jack 2, Clover: A Curious Tale, and Escape Goat. I've only played Escape Goat so far, but it's awesome. I absolutely love the music in it.

I bought Clover the first time it was released couple years ago and I loved it. The new version has more content, so I felt like it was worth it for just 80 points.

Souls Caster I & II,Zombie Estate,Treasure Treasure FFEE,Escape Goat(haven't played it but bought it.),and Cursed Loot(formerly know as Epic Dungeon).
