Final Fantasy XIV Collectors Edition (PC) New 24.99 @ GameStop (In store only)

Moonlk

CAGiversary!
Just as the title says. It used to be 29.99 last time I checked, but now its 24.99. Pretty good deal considering it was a lot more when it first came out. Its not available online, so your best shot is in the stores.

Good luck!
There wont be a subscription for for at least a couple more months either, so that sweetens the deal a bit.
What unsweetens the deal is that FFXIV is possibly the worst MMORPG ever made.

worst over hyped MMO ever made. I waited for this for so long, even bought a new rig just for this game. I tried to like it, played for a few weeks after launch. Even though it is free to play still, that is still charging too much
Thats a pretty bold statement to make considering some of the dreck that has come out mmo wise.
Yeah, but any of those aren't coming from a high profile company like Square Enix. The only reason that it has stayed up this long is that it has SE backing it financially and SE fanboys who want to see it succeed, otherwise it would have folded fast like APB, Tabula Raza, Hellgate London, etcetera. Hell, SE already made a successful MMO, but FFXIV was/is a complete flop. In the state that it was released, how could they not see that?

But hey, almost-free MMO for the time being while they struggle to make it worthy. If they ever really overhaul it I'd consider playing it, but they still have a long way to go. For the time being I'll play something else.

Remember, the collector's edition includes a buddy pass which is a full key for the game, so it's getting two copies for $25. So you can give the key to your worst enemy, err your best friend who will become your enemy after wasting his time on the broken game. Maybe if they get all of their scheduled changes by the end of summer done the game will be worth logging into and checking out again.

Gah, I just bought the last copy of the regular version they had the other day for $15. Since there's no monthly fee at the moment I feel obligated to at least try it out as hyped as I was for it =/

With SE literally bleeding money from this game and people probably being hesitant of a new rpg after 13s Luke warm reception SE is in a tough slot right now. They really seem to have dropped in quality lately. I wonder how dungeon siege 3 will pan out. Haha a game developed by obsidian and whatever this new SE is. I want to like it but thats not looking good.

Everything I've read recently because I took an interest where the game was at places it barely better than launch, in overall terms, with "plans" and "patches coming" and all that business still a freaking pipe dream as if we were in month 1 out of launch and them talking about what needed to be fixed in the future.

I pre-ordered the CE, played the open beta, and have played the retail version for about 2 hours total. Disgusted at playing the open beta version -still- after paying for the game I just quit. The game is terrible, and this isn't hyperbole like with XIII or something, it really was. Anything remotely good was buried beneath 10 lbs of human waste, so feel free to sift through it if you like.

As said, this is cheap and you might, eventually, if you can squint and see that far into the future, get a good game out of this. At this point though it's just hilarious how badly it fell flat on it's face.
Just refreshing the thread since best buy is having this for 35.99.
I had actually forgotten about this thread and thought someone just recently posted it, which I thought was funny since it destroys the BB one (unless someone has credit). Thanks for the reminder, can't let BB eat up all the business.

Lol. The last thing I wanted to do is pull an asshole move and destroy someones thread, but money is money!
Is their anything cool in a collectible sense with this edition?
Looks like just a behind the scenes DVD, a security token, and a travel journal that has concept art. Nothing particularly cool I'd say.
Is their anything cool in a collectible sense with this edition?
Not...really. The journal thing is pretty, but almost completely empty. The box is nice?.....lol

You can get some kind of like birth certificate for your character somehow, I never actually did it. It gets mailed to you.

It's not an awful price if you're a CE/LE whore and wanted the PC version anyways. (As someone pointed out, it'll be Free2Play for a while).

@Vortextk

Ha, because I want my character to remind me of a stuffed animal from Build-A-Bear? Would you have to pay for shipping? I think it'd just be easier/cheaper to print yourself.

Well it's an awful price for the game itself...lol =/ I really, really expected more to be done by now. Oh man the forums for this game was great.

"beta is kinda..." "dude just wait for release"
"release plays like beta..." "bro it's coming, give them some time"
"1 month later and no real patch.." "omg game is perfect, and we get MORE content by like january!"
[..skip]
"This summer, super patches to all the fixes we've been talking about for 9 months!"

Assuming they don't go bankrupt it may ACTUALLY get good at some time. Uh the certificate thing was kind of cool, the background paper/print would be based off the city you picked to start in(1 of 3). I should really look to see how it's done, just to get the damn thing. I did pay for all this stuff lol.

Oh one thing I will say, the number/key generator thing, real name is escaping me, that you get with it to attach to your account is pretty cool. It works for your online account and it'll link with all your other SE stuff, like XIV or XI too. In XI you get some extra inventory bag if you have one I think, I never played it. I know WoW has something similar. That's around 10 bucks alone anyway so the stuff you're getting with the CE is technically worth the price, assuming you actually find some kind of worth in the game.

This reminds me I should try and play some more of it.
I have it installed and everything but have barely touched. It wasn't too bad, but I'm currently only even playing bits of it because it's free. I don't think i'll be paying for it when the monthly subs hit.

Don't forget the part where Square-Enix quit charging the players because the experience was so bad. The free month became two, and then that became indefinite.

I actually bought a copy from Gamestop in store 2 weeks ago and wanted to let others out there know that my game disc will not install (a problem with the data2 archive apparently). Just a heads up for people considering buying, hopefully my copy is a rare occurrence.

Considering that's a recently released CE, that's a pretty darn good price. Almost tempted to try the game despite all the bad things I hear about it since I'm a sucker for CEs. This was $40 I think at their last Gamer Day sales, right?

I purchased this for 80 bucks on the day it was released, so hyped and ready to play, got on for about a week, then gave up...the game was such crap I didnt even want to love it anymore. I was hoping so bad the game would just complete fail and we might get a partial refund or something....free to play for something I dont even want to play is not good enough,

Yep. I thought about caving in on that price. Thank god I waited.
