PS3/PSP game clearance at SonyStyle B&M

czissis

CAGiversary!
I found some decent clearance games at the SonyStyle stores in Aventura and Boca Raton FL. Manager said that the games went on sale a few days ago and should be chainwide. Nothing to spectacular but definitely worth checking out to round out the collection.

:ps3:
Tom Clancy's HAWX2 - $5
Singularity - $10
50 Cent Blood on the Sand - $5
GTA IV GH - $10
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - $10

Plenty more, but I wasn't interested or had most of them so I can't recall them.

Also a decent selection of PSP titles, wasn't interested so I can't remember any of those either.

Now, for them to put those PSN cards on sale...
If you pick up Sonic, lemme know how it is. I've been eyeing picking it up with MUA2 for $30 from Walmart.com for centuries.

Also, I've never seen a SonyStyle ever. Closest one is only 7 miles away? Damn. Next closest one is 31 miles, then 50.

I've always heard that 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is good (oddly, enough). At $5, I'd even give it a try. Unfortunately, there aren't any of these stores around me.

the only time i saw a sony style store was at a big strip mall once when i was driving down south to Disneyland =P I dont think theyre very prolific. At least not in California. The prices on stuff were way high too, so im surprised they actually have some stuff so cheap

It really is man. I've actually beaten it twice because I loved unlocking new songs and guns. I actually got most of the achievements as well.

ya its actually quite a competent little shooter. Its really not bad at all. id give ita 6 or 7/10 personally, definitly worth getting at about 20 bucks or less

Ok! I hope they have a copy left on Tuesday!:)
Wish I could find Singularity for that price online, been wanting to pick it up for a while
In case you didn't know, BBV has it used for $15 and part of their B1G1 free thingy. If you couldn't find a copy yourself, you might find a nice enough CAG in that topic to pick it up for you if you paid the $10. I wouldn't mind but I think my closest place only had it on the 360.

Blood on the sand was hilarious. I'm not a fan of 50 cent or hip hop and. Loved it.
Kind of like a silly off the wall Gears of War.

I'm 99% sure that the U.S. version has zero trophy support.

You're right, but it doesn't matter when a game is just that fun.

And Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is $10 of the best bucks you could spend on your PS3/360. Seriously.

I would like to get a copy of Hawx 2 for $5 though.
I'm 99% sure that the U.S. version has zero trophy support.
I haven't played the game but there is a page for the game on PS3Trophies.org.

That's because the Japanese version has trophy support. We never got a patch and at this point it's not likely to happen.

Lemme get this straight. Sony decided that the Japanese version of a 50 Cent game, deserved a trophy support patch, and not the US? Talk about being out of touch with your consumers/Japan-biased. =/

@ Vyse

I can easily* play all the Sonic games on an emulator though, what makes that 360 Compilation (I have Sonic Mega Collection for Gcube (still looking for Mega Collection+ for Xbox 1 >_>; ) and Sonic Gems Collection for Gcube) worth the purchase?

Maybe actually supporting SEGA and getting perfect ports redone in HD with Trophy support rather than a bootleg emulator? Not to mention its not just Sonic games on it, dude.

The title is a little misleading. It's a collection of 49 different sega games, not just Sonic titles. Mostly Genesis with a few unlockable arcade games and sega master system games. It's one of the best bargains around, especially at 10 bucks.

Wikipedia has a full list of all the titles offered.
Maybe actually supporting SEGA and getting perfect ports redone in HD with Trophy support rather than a bootleg emulator? Not to mention its not just Sonic games on it, dude.
Well, it's more that I have the Genesis originals (except 3D Blast which I've only rented if you wanna split hairs), and a few other compilations already, as well as the plug and play TV Genesis thingies (Both of 'em) so I believe I've ALREADY supported Sega (a company I do love) plenty.
HD isn't a factor to me since I lack an HDTV, and Achievements/Trophies are okay, but not worth $15 ~ $20. I know there's not JUST Sonic games, but what else seals the deal here?

Edit: And Wirebrain provides the answer, I had forgotten that it was 49(???) Genesis/Master System games. Damn. That's exactly what I needed to hear/be reminded of, thank you very much. I was more wanting it just for the Sonic stuff, but Vyse made such a strong point, I was curious as to what made it the best $10 spent evar.

Yeah. InecomCompany, on YouTube, does an amazing review on the Sonic Ultimate Collection. Such fun nostalgia!!!!!! So many games on that disc!!!!

You're big into the YouTube reviews, I see. I'll give that one a look. Probably the next purchase I make from Walmart. I love how this thread turned into SUGC love, makes sense us being cheap ass gamers and all.
OP, do you know how many sonic collection, singularity, and hawx 2 they had? A lot or a little works. Thanks!
Only 1 of Sonic and HAWX but at least 5 or so of Singularity. They had a pretty big selection with one side of a small shelving unit having all the games. Id say about 100 games at Boca, Aventura on the other hand only had a small shelf with only about 30.

Hm... Tempted to go and see if I can get HAWX 2 for that price tomorrow, though I still have the first game sitting on my shelf that I've barely played yet.

OP, did you see whether the price on the blu-ray clearance dropped as well? They had a few titles in their clearance for $10 before that I'd probably be interested in picking up if they went through another price drop.
is there a flyer or something for these sales cause I dont have a sony style near me so i can price match it some where
Probably no flyer, no. It's a clearance, not a regular sale. Besides, you're highly unlikely to get another store to price match a store that is nowhere near you anyway.

No flyer that I know of. I just walked into the store, not expecting to find anything because normally there never are any deals. There was a small display that said "Value games, under $10" and it was a selection of games with orange stickers.

The other store had a crappy, black and white printed sheet of paper that said something about a Memorial Day PS3 and PSP game sale.
I'm 99% sure that the U.S. version has zero trophy support.
Yeah but he said achievements.

Might have to drive to Aventura for Sonic! It's nearby, anyway.

I honestly apologize if I came off looking like I was trying to correct anyone, not my intention at all. I was just trying to point out that the game lacks trophies for people who care about that kinda thing.

And Sonic is a MUST-BUY at that price IMO. HD translation of that many genesis games including one of my favs: Comix Zone! Also the interviews that you unlock are interesting.
Yeah but he said achievements.

Didn't see Sonic at Aventura, got the only copy I saw at Boca. Aventura selection was slim only 6 or 7 different ps3 games.
Hey are Sony stores the same as Sony styles? Because there's a few Sony stores in my area.
oh d... ................................."Sony style store"...........
probably gonna go check out a store in Houston...Sonic and HAWX interests me
If you see a Hawx 2, let a fellow h-town CAGer know !

Ok, folks. Ran by my SS and checked out everything they had on display. Super annoying since there was no clearance section and everything was mixed as well as having the price tags on the back so I had to grab a game and flip it over to see the price.
Tony Clancy's HAWX2 - $5
Tony Clancy? Who's Tony Clancy? Is this game a hybrid of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and HAWX, in where you fly around on a skateboard with machine guns shooting other people with the same thing out of the air?

Nope, its same thing as the Tom Clancy game but with Tony the Tiger, its some weird crossover...
Nope, its same thing as the Tom Clancy game but with Tony the Tiger, its some weird crossover...
The game has nothing to do with Tony the Tiger. It's about Tony Danza controlling a jet fighter to see who really is the boss.

The Chicago Premium Outlet's Sony store in Aurora all those PS3 games listed minus Tekken, Super SS4, and Lucha Libre.

They did have White Knight Chronicles for $9.97 though

Could not really see the prices for the PSP games since they were on the shelf behind the registers.

Wait... so you dont have an HDTV? I'm confused
Wait... so you dont have an HDTV? I'm confused
I do not own a working HDTV. Never have. All I've got is a free one I picked up with power supply issues that I need to spend $100 ~ $300 to get fixed. It's a fat older model but the screen's a pretty good size and the screen itself is glass-based (generally better quality, but it only broadcasts in 720p).

But that's why a game being in HD isn't a factor for me (right now), yes.

The Sony Style in Tampa has a bunch of pairs of the Bravia 3D glasses on clearance for $50 each. For the $100 difference from the newer model, I'll gladly buy the disposable batteries. They had the blue and pink glasses on clearance too for $70 a pair.
