^This.
I wonder if this will be a case where the game is better than the movie, because so far the movie looks terrible.
i somewhat agree, however, I think it is more likely that one will be bad and the other terrible.

With all the movie games this yr this will be $10-$20 around yrs end look at iron man 2. Also, these games are great fodder you can find used at blockbuster b/c they have just so many damn copies.

Eh, Thor looked absolutely terrible and turned out to be decent so I have hopes for Cap and Green Lantern even though neither are looking all that great.

I'm with you. Thor was an overrated piece of crap and Green Lantern looks bad. Captain America is the one I'm looking forward to.

Quoted for so much truth! There hasn't been a bad Marvel movie made yet, people are so hard to please. But I'm with everyone else in only purchasing these types of games below the $20 mark and you know it's coming sooner than later.

I don't know about that... the first Hulk movie and Elektra were pretty bad. And Ghost Rider and the Fantastic Four movies are right on the edge. Still, super looking forward to this movie.

And I happened to love all of those, especially the Fantastic Four movies! I don't know, I get my nachos and icee, grab a good seat and simply expect to be entertained in some capacity and to me, those movies served that purpose. I never care about "it doesn't follow the exact same story as the comic book" or "but that costume is the wrong color" and all that nonsense, just looking for a little fun. I used to collect comic books as a teenager, especially Marvel, so maybe I am a little biased;)

And Wolverine. If for nothing else, this movie butchered Deadpool. But I actually liked Thor. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. Can't wait to see X-Men. And although I want to see Green Lantern, I have a feeling it will not turn out well.

Looking forward to the movie, but I'll be blown away if this doesn't end up being another piece of shit Marvel game that Sega throws together. They've blown it with both Iron Man games and Thor, I don't expect Cap to be any better.

You sir, have an excellent avatar. Easily the funniest moment in Parks and Rec history.

I'm not holding my breath on X-men either though.

Howard The Duck, Hulk (with Eric Bana), and Elektra were all pretty horrible. Although it's safe to say marvel movies have a better track record than the game tie ins. So I will probably wait for the sub 20 price range too.

Not sure why you guys are comparing the quality of movies based on Marvel characters as if they were all produced by the same source. These Avengers set-up movies have been produced by Marvel. Sony has exclusivity in regards to Spiderman, and Fox has the rights to X-men and the Fantastic Four. Fox has been known to ruin franchises a la the Chun Li and Dragon Ball movies. Though First Class was surprisingly good.

Edit: Daredevil and Elektra were also produced and distributed by Fox, surprise surprise.

Well the director of Cap did Rocketeer and I dug that movie so I have faith in Cap

Those weren't actually produced by Marvel. Marvel's actual films - Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor (we won't count Iron Man 2) have all been great. The Captain America and Avengers movies will be awesome too. Anybody who says the new Captain America film looks bad just doesn't know about or like Captain America.

As for the game, it looks pretty good! I'm tempted by that price, though GameStop has the Ultimate Cap outfit as a preorder bonus. Hmm...
Edit: Daredevil and Elektra were also produced and distributed by Fox, surprise surprise.
Actually Daredevil and Elektra were Regency productions which Fox only distributed. Fox had nothing to do with calling the shots in terms of how they were produced or financed.

Fox has been known to ruin franchises a la the Chun Li and Dragon Ball movies. Though First Class was surprisingly good.

Was there something wrong with X-MEN 1 or 2?

And if you're going to get on Fox for making lousy comic book movies, let's not forget Sony made GHOST RIDER and Marvel themselves turned out IRON MAN 2, which was pretty much crap.

X-Men First Class is also very good by most accounts. But it'll take a few more good sequels before X-Men 3 and Wolverine disappear from most people's minds.

Iron Man 2 mostly suffers IMO from being rushed (and apparently some script interference). If they'd given themselves more time to make the film, it would have turned out much better. Anyway, my point was that 3 out of 4 movies produced so far (with Cap looking to be a very good # 5) is a great track record. Plus people just love that they're authentic and exist in the same universe as each other.

Speaking of Daredevil, anyone that hated that movie really should check out the director's cut. HUGE improvement over the theatrical.

It does have an 87% positive rating on Rotten. That's pretty damn good for a comic book movie.

Yeah, its not as good as the first one but that doesn't mean it was horrible.

Anyhow, in an effort to make my post more on topic...

I would not preorder this game... Even at this price. This price will be back soon enough if the game ends up being good and, lets face facts, its got a lot to overcome. A developer who hasn't done a single 360/PS3 game, a publisher who has so far completely mishandled the Marvel movies license to the point their was talk that marvel wanted them out, and previews are going to be positive till the game ships and they turn to reviews. Why? No one wants to get left out of coverage for Sega's better games. (Which they now have in Aliens: Colonial Marines.)

Don't get me wrong, I would love for this game to be good and/or decent... but their so many proven great games one can get for 40 bucks that taking a chance just seems foolhardy to me.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for this game to be good and/or decent... but their so many proven great games one can get for 40 bucks that taking a chance just seems foolhardy to me.
It's not really taking a chance since you can cancel any time. If no reviews or other previews are released I'll just cancel before it ships.

I'm glad lots of people have replied to this with the mountain of garbage Marvel has put out at theaters, but just to add to the fire I'll mention Spiderman 3. Holy hell what a steaming pile of dog shit.

That topic has already been addressed. Sony makes the Spider-Man films, not Marvel. I do agree that Spider-Man 3 sucked though.

I see this is a match of Toys R Us again. TRU also has Call Of Juarez: The Cartel preo-porders for Xbox/PS3 at $44.99 free shipping if anyones interested.

I like this strategy of pricing some of the non AAA games at cheaper prices. It's the way it should be.

I was gonna reply to this, but you edited my point away.

;)

The game looks like it could be pretty good judging from a 15 minute gameplay video. Not a whole lot else coming out in July either so I'll probably pick it up unless it gets horrible reviews.

I'm more of the "This movie's plot is pitiful, the acting is bad, and I feel far less connected with these characters than in better films" kinda guy. But what do I know?

Iron Man, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight are the only three superhero movies I'd give 4 or 5 stars to. The rest, especially Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider and Elektra, should have never been created...As films, they're moot. As action flicks, you can find much better elsewhere.

Imo, this is how I see Marvel movies that are the best so far

Iron Man
Thor
Blade (first one, those others are garbage)
Spider-Man 1&2
Punisher Warzone
X-Men First Class

and the others I either thought they were bad or garbage. Was never a fan of the first three X-Men movies because they were all focused on Wolverine and at least First Class it was focused on the X-Men. Even though First Class had a stupid story (I read a lot of the classic X-Men comics from the Essential books) and bad choose of characters for the movie. The acting was real good though but I considered it an okay movie even though I saw it for free lol.

I think this Captain America is going to look good and I'll be looking forward to seeing Green Lantern too. I saw trailers to the CA game and I actually think it looks good and the graphics don't look as crappy as the other Sega Marvel games. I read that the game has been in development for 3 years so I don't know. Obviously I take that for a grain of salt but still, it actually looks promising than the other Sega Marvel games. I played all of them with zero expectations and I had fun with all of them. Can't say for Thor, I'll wait for that to go down to 20 or less. I actually enjoyed Iron Man 2 a lot as for the first one was kinda a frustrating experience because there would be shit shooting everywhere which made it real annoying.

I'll pay 40 for this if I do have the money when it comes to the time of the release. If not, I'll just wait it out and pay 20 or less for it in a couple of months. Just sharing my two cents.

X-men First Class was an amazing movie. Easily one of the best superhero movies ever. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are two of the main reasons.

After watching (most of) the GameSpot video (thanks), I'll hold off on this. Movie game or not, I think a sub-$40 pre-release pricepoint is more damning than any tepid preview or release embargo.

On the side-topics:

1.) I've noticed that with First Class, most of the bashing is actually coming from the fans, not the critics. Which tells me that it's a good movie that isn't totally reverent to the exact source material, which, I'm sorry, is the much more preferable scenario for me.

2.) When did Iron Man 2 become such a 'shitty' movie? Nerd/Internet sociology often fascinates me like watching a disgusting time-lapse carcass decomposition.

3.) At this rate, I figured the geeks would be preemptively bashing Captain America. Whatever. What I'm a lot more interested in is seeing how both sides of such a polarized country try to take ownership of 'what Cap stands for.' So help me God, the instant I hear a Glenn Beck radio promo with him claiming "I'm all the 'Captain' this country needs!"...(punches open palm)

I don't understand why comic book fans cant just enjoy a movie for what it is, not the source material. You want something really true to the source material, read the comic books.
Directors shouldn't have to undermine their vision of the movie just because theres something out there telling them how to make the characters, etc.

More complaints have been made about the timeline and how it fits in with the other X-men movies. IT DOESNT. Its a reboot, and a loose prequel.

By the way, Captain America looks good but i wont be too hyped for it just yet.

I am also a big fan of the superhero genre but not a big comic book reader so I have never had a huge issue with comic book movies. I can understand why comic fans get bent but I would much rather they actually make the movies. I am just happy we live during a period where we get to see these characters on the big screen with effects that make them look and feel real. I think the biggest dissenting voices come from those who want the movies to be the comics come to life which I think is both financially difficult and hard to do for a mainstream audience. The are not going to spend 150-200 million making a movie that only 5% of us will want to see or even really understand. They make some stinkers but you take the good with the bad.

And on a sidenote to the sidenote, I'll also be interested to see what the 'core community' reaction to The Dark Knight Rises will be next Summer, leading up to its release. I'll bet the old 'Man, Heath shoulda been in this' resentments will bubble back up to the surface. Nolan won't be able to win with some people on that. Their loss.

Also wondering if we might get a couple quality games out of the final (?) Nolan Batman movie, as well as The Avengers.* No reason to think we should, except that those are two very different, but incredible opportunities to do something fun with the gameplay mechanics.

*--No quicktime events, unless they're Black Widow facesitting maneuvers, okay? Yeah, I'm pathetic.

Game will be terrible. I really can't see how it's worth this price unless you're an absolute fanboy, which I can understand. I'm a huge Iron Man fan, but still waited until both those games hit sub-$10 before I grabbed them. Whether it looks okay in videos or not, I'm sure the common destructive elements to these types of games(game-breaking camera, bad controls, messy hit-detection, repetitive enemies, repetitive textues, etc) will surface. That said, I'm a bit of a geek, so I'm in at $10 anyway.

Movie-wise, I'm a first day admission, but my hopes aren't huge. I think the movie can work fine, I just think Cap is one of those heroes who might not translate well to "real life". The look of the costume is love it or hate it, as it would be if they used a more traditional comic look. It's very difficult to bring some things like this to life and not have it be overly corny looking.

And let's not start the Dark Knight Rises talk in here, that almost has no chance to eclipse the last one, regardless of whether the film itself is superior or not. I'm sure I'll see it, I'm sure it'll be fantastic, and I'm sure everyone will shit on it anyway.
X-men First Class was an amazing movie. Easily one of the best superhero movies ever. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are two of the main reasons.
I don't get the criticism either. X-Men First Class is essentially a Magneto Movie. If you'd have told me a year ago that they'd make a movie about Magneto I'd have laughed it off as I did the rumor that this X-Men movie was going to feature Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan made young via CGI (thank God that turned out to be false or someone pulled their head out of their arse). Oh, and the only thing dissapointing about Iron Man 2 was the villain -- yet another crazed dude in a beefed up suit of power armor going on a rampage that Iron Man must stop.

As for the Captain America game, it looks like Batman AA ... but something seems to be missing. I've watched most of the preview videos and I can't place my finger on it, but it seems like Diet Pepsi to Batman AA's Coke.
