Pesticide guns (best weapons in the game) http://gematsu.com/2011/01/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddons-pesticide-guns

Anybody here getting this on PS3? New features to the series include 3-player online co-op and 6-player online survivor mode (I think even split screen play is included for local).

Looks like Gamestop is getting it early street date is July 5th but they said it was pushed up early because of holiday weekend, so I'm getting my copy tomorrow. :)
I tried to pre-order @ Best Buy last week and they didn't even have the PS3 version, I think they are only carrying the 360.

I'll probably be playing most of the weekend.. anyone up for some online co-op?

EDF! EDF! EDF!

At $40, this is definitely on my watch list. I have a few other games ahead of it this fall but I loved this game on the 360. Just wish it had online multiplayer, but thankfully that's been added to IA.

I might get it, no reviews up as of now, but with the low price tag and giant bugs, my interest is definitely high. I'm wondering if they'll fix problems that were in the first game like control.
I just got my copy, firing it up now. I'll post some quick thoughts on it in a bit.
I would love to see your impressions as I have been looking at this game a while and never played the original.

Played the first chapter last night.. It's lots of fun and stays true to the original games, but changes things up a bit by adding different classes and stuff. I like the tactical armor because of the turrets you can place, but the heavy is also good too because of his shield ability as well.

There's kind of a minor sound bug with the game where the music hitches every once in a while and to fix you have to turn the music off, no big deal, but kind of annoying. I also think some of the weapon and enemy sounds could be louder, too.. Like the daddy long legs in the title screen is not nearly as loud as in the game itself.

The only thing graphically that annoys me compared to the other games is that when you kill bugs, most of the time they disintegrate before the death animation is done. Watch the video I posted below to see what I mean. The other games didn't do that, IIRC. like if you blow up bugs with a grenade or rocket launcher the bugs carcasses would go flying & was pretty entertaining to watch lol. I guess they did the disintegration crap to save on memory and not have so many enemies on screen at once.

Found a YT video of someone playing it with his little kid last night (both single player and split screen) on the first mission and he gives some initial thoughts on gameplay and graphics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwBF4BXc8pY
Whats funny is the kid didn't know to hit the L2 button to use the jets as the jet armor so he was on the ground the whole time. :)

I played a few rounds of random multiplayer co-op yesterday, surprisingly lot of people were playing and did not have trouble finding matches. It looks like the co-op levels are the same as the single player, and your stats/weapons carry over as well. Was not laggy at all. I'm anxious to try the survival mode.

I think I also saw an ant clipping through a fence. But for the low budget price and amount of enemies, weapons and desctructable environments, its hard to complain. I will be getting this soon to wet my appetite for balls to the wall action.

Beat the game last night on Normal, solo. Going to try to beat theother modes now that I have some of my armors leveled up. Played a few few rounds on survival, too. Shouldn't be too hard to get all the trophies with enough replayability, though.

I am really glad to see someone playing an actual retail copy of the game... not unlike the other game I was looking forward to this summer (the splinter cell trilogy) this game has had some quiet release date shuffles going on so its good to know the game has actually been released and I can (hopefully) pick one up tomorrow. On first impressions the game looks technically better than 2017 but I gotta say I think I preferred the last game's "shiny metal overkill" look.

Sinistar, I had two quick questions:

1) You beat it already!? About how long is the campaign? The last game had a good 60 or so missions (maybe even more) so this sounds kinda short judging by how quickly you beat it.
2) Are there alot of unique enemy types?

Yeah, the game is kinda short in that aspect.. there's 3 chapters, 5 levels each, but they are pretty big. Plus there's a lot of replayability to unlock stuff and the remix campaign mode, and survival.

As for the enemy types, I think I posted a link to a post on PS Blog about all the enemy types in the game.

EDIT: Here's a link for anyone who wants the walkthrough, was posted on the GameFAQS forums :) http://www.d3press.us/files/Earth D...Game Walkthrough/EDF_IA_Walkthrough_Final.pdf

Looks like we are finally getting a patch :)

No audio glitch fix in this patch? man, I have been playing without music since july..

What day works best for an EDF game night for people?

My trooper is now level max, with my other armors coming along slowly.. and my pesticide gun kills me much more often than it kills the enemys. =)

Yeah the audio is supposedly fixed. :p
"Correction of a problem that causes audio to become distorted."

Though I'm not sure if that means the jumpy music is fixed or just the sound levels of different ravagers and the weapon volumes & surround are fixed..Hopefully it'll be fixed though. And YAY for the ability to make R1 the main trigger, too.

Why did they disable the pesticide weapons in public games?

As for a game night, Wed or Thursday works good for me.

The pesticide guns have a VERY large blast radius, which makes them incredibly hard to use without killing your allies.
