What ever happened to Gametap?

I know for a while it was being advertised like crazy and I just went on their site. They have almost 600 titles, yet you rarely hear about them anymore.

What happened to them? Did they just become unpopular as a service or what?
 
I was actually wondering this the other day. I guess their ad companies just decided not to worry about getting their name out there anymore.
 
I looked it up on Wikipedia to find out, and interestingly, the link to the official Gametap blog now points to a review site for treadmills.
 
The reason they were advertised so much is because they were owned by Time Warner. So it was easy for them to advertise, since they own cable channels, websites & magazines.

But they were sold to some french company 3 years ago, which hasn't done much with the service besides let it slowly die.
 
I checked out game tap to compare it to onlive last night. From what I saw Gametap seems to be lacking in games even the classic ones. Looks like they lost some licensing rights or got bought out.
