Craig Ferguson in Paris

So it's over. I think that was a great series of episodes, probably one of the best things I've seen on TV in a long while, it was very refreshing in its simplicity and honesty.

I've never given much thought to the "late night wars," but Craig just leapfrogged Conan in my book, even though I haven't watched Conan in ages. So maybe I should say Craig 2011 leapfrogged Conan 1997 in my book.

Craig 2011 is up there running second to Letterman 1986 for me, though I'll grant I'm not a regular late night viewer and may have missed some good stuff. I really enjoy Ferguson's style, I think he's a nice change from the cynicism or eager-to-please vibes of the late night alternatives. He's a cool cat.

I think it's a testament to how much I've enjoyed the past week that I wasn't put off at all by the presence of the little blonde pocket rocket, the Veronica Mars girl. Craig can make anyone fun to listen to or laugh with, whether it's some actress trying to talk religion (and clearly out of her depths) or a skeleton robot making cock n' balls jokes. Good stuff!
