CAG golfers, where you at? If you are a regular, what is the toughest course you ever played at? Those who have tried it because they thought it would be fun, what did you all think?

The trick is to have fun with a group and not get too wasted and drive wrecklessly...

Actually rather enjoy it with a pal or three. I've never played any particularly notable course and I tend to play bogey or double bogey golf for the most part.

I'm 23 now and have been golfing since I was probably 11 or 12. I still suck but I love to play. I haven't golfed much at all in the last couple years. Unfortunately I haven't played on a really nice course yet. There is a really nice course that just opened up about 5 minutes from where I live. I am also in the bogey to double bogey range. I loved golf from the first time I ever played. It can be incredibly frustrating but when you make a long putt or get a birdie it is very satisfying.

I golf about once a month, sometimes more. I've been playing since I was about 16 or so. I'm definitely not good. I've got a wicked slice off the tee when I use drivers sometimes and I'm more comfortable chipping from 30 yards than I am 3. I just play the local courses, so I wouldn't say I've played any "tough" course. All that being said, I love playing the game.

Yeah, my drives have the trajectory of a banana. I tend to aim about 25-30 degrees left of where I intend the ball to land. I can hit a 3w with much better accuracy so I've more or less given up on the driver. I get the same distance since the ball has to travel an additional 40y laterally with the driver...

i'm a bogey golfer. been playing for about 14-15yrs. haven't really improved just stayed the same over the years.
the only notable courses I've played are Bethpage and Doral. everything else has been local NYC and Miami courses.

Golf to me is like fishing, I dont care if I catch anything or get the ball in the hole because the tranquility of it far out weighs actually accomplishing anything.

I only play golf maybe twice a year tops but its nice to be out on a nice day and play for fun. I get some good exercise as well because I dont use carts, I carry my bag the entire game. Plus its the one time I smoke, well I smoke cigars while I play golf but its an added bonus.

Thats hardest course I played on though, mostly because of a couple stretches through a narrow pass in the woods thats on a steep valley. I knock that shit into the woods every damn time on a couple holes.

Worst though is a course near me. The entire damn thing is flat, it has like 12 trees so its hot as hell out there and ugly, and the ground is hard as a rock.

I rarely ever use my driver either. I can get about the same distance with a 3w, and with much better accuracy. The courses I play aren't long enough to really require a driver anyway, though the friends I go with still try to kill it every time.

I know I should practice more with my driver so eventually I can get decent with it, but I get frustrated with hitting it all over the place too easily.

I have a friend back home who only uses his irons, which is actually pretty funny to watch, but it works well for him.

I'm not very good with irons, mainly because I'm too tall for off the shelf clubs. I hit my 5 iron about as far as my buddy hits his 7.

Even though I'm only 6'2", I've never felt comfortable with the legnth of my clubs. But I've tried for a few years and something about it has still not clicked with me, so I'm still absolutely horrible. I'll second gargus though, the tranquility outweighs the other aspects for me as well.
Use to golf enjoyed it a lot. Sadly its just to expensive for me to keep it going.
i dont know about you, but there are courses by me that are under $10 for 18 holes (either at twilight or during various special deals).

Same here, as long as you're willing to play the crappy public courses. Those actually appeal to me more since I'm not that good, there's less pressure to play quickly since I never feel like I'm constantly slowing better players up.

Where do you play cavanaugh, bing maloney? :hot::hot:

I've tried golfing before. I shot like 70 over par, on a par 3 course. I think it might have only been 9 holes too. I really like mini golf though, (or I used too).

I'm 6'4". I paid for custom made clubs with extended shafts, stiff flex, up angled and offset club heads, and thicker grips. Works great. My irons are my strong suit. Now my short game on the other hand is what brings me down. I'm just atrocious at chipping, pitching, and putting* even though I've been playing for 13 years.

*I'm awesome at lag putting though.

And to answer the OPs question, I rotate around 5 or 6 different public courses in PA. And the toughest I've played at are either Mountain Valley near Hazleton or Pelican's Nest outside of Fort Myers.

usually cordova because its around the corner and cheap. but ill go up to river oaks in nicolaus or out to davis muni to play with friends. if we are feeling ritzy we play haggin oaks. river oaks is nice, its a little out of the way but its a nice course for a decent price and is never crowded.

I got really drunk and decided to golf with my friends while in Korea...I ended up getting into a fight with ajjoshi after my golf ball hit his windshield. For some reason there was a road going right through the course...or maybe I was just THAT bad (or drunk). Looking back--it was a great day...I just haven't golfed since.
