50% Trade-in bonus at Gamestop

They seem to be doing this if there is a BB nearby the store. Still highly YMMV but just call them up. It gets sprung on them last minute and isn't a planned bonus so you may get employees that know nothing about it.
 
Saw it at a local one...it's definitely a YMMV-type situation; usually only at GS' that are close or next to a Best Buy. It was said that it was up to the District Manager's discretion on allowing certain stores to do it.
 
the fact they are secret sales, cracks me up. The only person who would actually benefit from the increase is someone who was already going to trade anyway. DoH!!
 
No kidding! I just traded in $140 (including the 30% bonus for over 7 games, and the EDGE/PUR 10%) worth of games yesterday at a GS just across town. I probably could have netted another $15-20 more if I went to the one with the bonus today, had I known about it...
 
If this is due to best buy, that's awesome. Bout time someone put some pressure on and gamestop and make them compete.
 
Gamestop I visited to get the Uncharted Dual Pack was running this promo and the manager said there were only 2 others nearby running the same sale. This is the southtown gamestop in Bloomington.
 
I just posted a thread in the regional deals section about this. They are running this promo at the GS on South St. in Philadelphia. I've called around and none of the other GS stores in the area are running the promo.

I can confirm this is active at the garden state racetrack gamestop in NJ. I just got back from trading in 9 games for $130 of credit. :D

Also confirming that this is probably for stores with a best buy near them. Literally there is a best buy not even 300 feet from my local store in the same shopping center.

Yep any store near a BB that's struggling on trades can have this activated for a 3-day period and it's completely random as others have said.
 
Actually saw a sign advertising this today at the outside Gamestop in Roanoke VA that's right next to a Best Buy (there's a mall right next door that also has a Gamestop in it, don't know about that one).
 
Confirmed at a GS here in Colorado Springs, and it is one that is right by a BB (Falcon Landing store, N Academy for any locals wondering)
 
This has been discussed in the past before. Like others have said, only specific stores are allowed these sales, and almost always ones near a Best Buy (or other like competition, I suppose). If you ever see any of these promos running one weekend, it's safe to say the same exact stores are going to have promos the following weekend. They will have different ones nearly every weekend but are specific to those "exclusive" stores. So yeah, let's hope this is the last thread like this, although I wholly expect to see another one in a week or two.

The store in Montgomery Mall was doing it and the one at Airport Square (near the Best Buy) were the ones.

I was at the mall and saw the signs then I called the Airport Square store to see if they were doing it, so I didn't have to go back to the mall. They said it was active till the 17th or something like that.
 
hmm should probably check my gamestop in the plaza, it is like only one block away from bestbuy where I trade most of my games so they should have this promotion

called GS #6120 in pleasant hill, ca (bbuy 1.0mi away). CSR said he 'hadn't heard of this sale' & 'sales promos come from corporate, not individual locations.' um, OK.

semi-related questions: roomie left pile of stuff, including
1. game cases w/manuals but not the games themselves. GS says it doesn't pay for these: anywhere that does?
2. BDs some still in shrink wrap, some opened: best place to cash in?

My gamestop, which is probably 600 feet from a Best Buy, is running this promotion. I was in buying 99c ps2 games, wish I'd known I would've brought some games in. I'll probably be back tomorrow.
 
About 5-6 years back we had the sweetest deal going on at my Gamestop. There was a another store in the same strip mall just about a 20 second walk away that sold games. They often had cheaper prices. To counter, gamestop gave every current gen game (which at the time I believe was Xbox/PS2 an additional $5 credit no matter what.

That meany if you brought in 4 games you were guaranteed $20. I had some field days with that one. I could bring in 5 games that may have been worth $20 credit but that $5 bump would net me $45. I was really upset the day the other store moved out.
 
Called all three Lincoln, NE Gamestop stores and they all said they didn't have the 50% extra trade-in promo going.
 
My store (Bend, OR) has this deal if you trade in 7 or more games. 3 games = 10%, 5 games = 30% and 7 games = 50% bonus trade-in bonus. And this doesn't stack if you try to combine it with their pre-order/trade-in bonus deals.
 
Amazingly enough, it's happening at the Edgewood shopping center in Atlanta, Georgia if anyone lives near enough to that one.

I can confirm it's happening in Birmingham, AL at store #5059 just off Hwy 280. Didn't actually trade in anything but saw big signs outside the store.
 
seems like its an east coast thing, anyone know any GS stores in the California area doing this 50% trade in deal?
 
ok so I answered my own question and called Gamestop across the street from a Best Buy and they said there location is doing the 50% trade in deal. This is in Southern California

Just do what the above poster did and call some. It's really not that hard.

And remember these locations, guys, since these are the same ones that will probably be running similar weekend-only exclusive promos in the future. A compiled list of these stores would be nice, but too much work for someone to do.

Yup - I saw the banner on that one as well. I work very close by to the Southtown GS. They're a friendly bunch of guys.
