Is this game even good?

Too bad their subscription service didn't work although I expected it to flop anyway.
 
CAGs in Peru awesome! i have mild interest in this game but ive heard nothing but bad things about the ps3 version. free to play would theoretically expand users online, but were there many to begin with anyway? anyone who owns this vouch for some amount of fun to be had?

-F the thread police who say move it move it, free is the best deal of all...
 
FINALLY! Now I must pick this up. I was hoping it would go free to play. I just can't spend the money on a monthly subscription.
 
Really excited about this.

the beta was really really great. the only deterrent was the 15 per month.

the only question now is wheres the best place to get it at. :D

Awesome news! Thanks for posting here. My subscription recently lapsed as I couldn't justify a monthly fee when I barely have time for games. I'm exciting to be able to resume my character now!

Does this mean you can download the game free? Or it means you can play for free w/ the game disc.

FYI... Any place that knows won't accept this as a trade-in. The disc is useless once you've used the key.

As of a few weeks ago, they had merged all PS3 users into 1 server per region (US, EU, etc.) so there were actually people when I played. This compared to the previous months where the server I was on (Countdown) was a barren wasteland.
 
I know i had a good time with it...my character had super speed and i loved zipping around the maps....combat was nice with a little skill to be had....i would spend hours on quest grinding to get my next level and take on more bad ass missions...for my first mmorpg i really enjoyed it plus im a comic nerd! I would definitely recommend this at free but with $5 it would be worth it as well...the only thing im thinking is if they also changed it so that you can buy a used version and play it....maybe the $5 premium will bypass all of that....i hope to see some CAG'S on there flying,zipping, or flipping away!

i just checked the dc universe online website and it said that there is no software purchase required to play the game.

so its basically saying that the actual game is free. soo, psn might have the full game download for free starting in october

that would be awesome! but, how would they be making any money then? to keep game and servers alive
 
they would be making money with the people who are still subscribing. and the free players who are paying for the dlc
 
I wonder how large the download file would be for the PS3. I am tight on space. I wonder if I should just buy the disc or not.
 
Awesome news. I stopped playing simply because I didn't want to pay $15 a month for it when I barely had time to use it. I really enjoyed the game when I did have a sub. for a bit though. I'll gladly start playing again once it's officially F2P.

Also, can you please fix the typo in the thread title? I'm a grammar Nazi, so "biginning" annoys me.

Its a huge file, something like 18gb. Even with the disk you still have to install everything.

It´s around 16-19gb
 
So basically this is how it works. If you play for free you are getting a gimped account with little to no benefits/features. If you spend some money you are getting more content but unless you actually subscribe, then you are not getting the "full" experience.

A lot of games are going full F2P now but in reality it's just a plot to get you to try the game to subscribe. Still a good deal though.

A deal would be if it was .35 cents a month to play, but free is well, free and should go in the free section because its free.

Actually it shouldnt even be in the free section but the general gaming section because it ISNT free yet is it? This is just a announcement that it will be free in a month. So its not free or "a deal" yet.
 
Good to hear though I hope they can still make some money and keep it afloat. Hopefully they have a decent DLC model set up.

I probably still won't try it as I'm not big on MMO's and the huge DL is a bit of a turn-off too

I predicted this back in January, and am glad to see it coming to fruition. This game is an MMO, but not quite an MMORPG, and it never was massive enough or deep enough to warrant a required monthly fee. It can now get the attention it deserves.. but not without a decent re-launch marketing push...

I read it but I would like the phycial copy of the game. A buddy of mine wanted to sell it to me for $10 the other day...I didn't bite because of the monthy fee but if its free to play then hell yea!

wait so if im not a legendary member i cant get trophies at all ? or i cant get any of the new trophies being added ?
 
Huh...I guess it's not that good (?) but maybe I'll try it when it goes free.

Of course it's probably a 5 day download for me :lol:
