Where can I find a good deal on Windows 7, say under $100?

Don't know why people recommend these. The OEM license means you intend on selling the computer you installed it on, not keep it for use. You might as well pirate it, since you didn't pay for the license to use it.

I don't think it states anywhere on the license that you actually have to distribute the system once an OEM version is installed, you just have to have to be a manufacturer, assembler, or refurbisher in order to install it. (I could be wrong though. In either case, an OEM version of Windows is not for those looking to upgrade.)

For Microsoft software OEM licenses, it actually does explicitly state that.

Edit:
There is a growing market for “do- it-
yourself” home PC hobbyists who assemble
PCs from components for their own use.
Microsoft retail software licenses are the
appropriate licenses for the do- it- yourself
market. OEM System Builder software is
not intended for this use, unless the PC
that is assembled is being resold to
another party. Please see further
clarification below.

if you have a business, you can sign up for Microsoft Bizspark and get all Microsoft products for free for like 2+ years =D
