My girlfriend has been watching me play Mass Effect 2 and ever since I told her that the main character can also be a woman she is wants to get into it. Not only that but she asked about playing Fable II.

So if anyone knows where I can get both games relatively on the cheap that would be great or if someone has it for sale or trade. Hit me up.
id get her a 3ds
handhelds rock for beginners imo :)
I asked her if she wanted one but her response was that the 3DS is for kids, she rather play something like Mass Effect.

Then let her play Mass Effect. Start on easy, be her guide and hold her hand, she'll figure it out.

If she gets discouraged, tell her she can have hot lesbian sex with an sexy alien. If she gets turned on by that, than you might have xenophiliac bi-sexual girlfriend... nice.

My first thought upon reading this was to tell her to have hot lesbian sex with me...sorry...so out of line ...anywhoo...

I agree, let her play ME2. Although I have been a gamer for some time, I didn't get serious about it untill I played Halo on the og xbox. You might be surprised at how quickly she picks it up if you get her games she will enjoy. I wish I had some 360 games to hook you up with...I am all about some female gamers...especially if they are hot.

She wants to start from ME1 since, she found out that alot of your actions carry over to each game. She is also not keen on the FPS she likes to see her character on the screen. I had her try out Fable 2 and she loved it but when the episode ended now she is bugging me to get it.

In Fable 3 can you choose between male or female as the main character?

I have actually never played Fable...it is one of the games that has me thinking about getting a 360 (I am a PS3 junkie). I think you can choose the gender of your character.

Do you think she would like Dragon Age? In it, your main character can be whatever gender you choose. I am a big fan of RPGs for the customization, character development, and deep story lines...and I don't mind putting hours upon hours into a game. If she is developing a great fondness for RPGs, you might also think about FFXIII...you don't get to create your characters as you do in Fable and DA, but there are several playable female characters, including the main character.

IMO ME1 and ME2 have pretty substantial differences. ME2 is much more steam-lined with fewer inventory/item/weapon management, more polished cover-based shooter mechanics, and a more linear mission approach (in ME1 you needed to land on planet, then drive around in the Mako before finding the right cave/structure to "begin" a side-mission; in ME2 you automatically "land" at the right place). (EDIT: ME2 also has a more streamlined resource-collection mechanic.) I don't necessarily agree with some of the changes Bioware made to ME2, but ME2 is definitely more "new gamer" friendly. If she wants to start with ME1 (more power to her! :D), you should definitely sit with her for a couple of planets
after becoming a Spectre
to see if she likes the play style.

And I believe in Fable 3 you can choose to be either gender.

Keep in mind that if you want to do everything in ME1 and ME2, you're likely to be clocking in at 50+ hours each for a single playthrough.

I'd recommend playing ME1 before ME2 since you get a lot of backstory for ME2 in ME1. Also, as listed above, they look and play differently. ME1 is a 3rd person RPG with some shooter tossed into the mix, ME2 is a 3rd person shooter with some RPG into the mix.

The DLC for ME1 isn't as prolific as ME2, though Bring Down The Sky is a must purchase for ME1 and it's included on the PH version of ME1. The DLC for ME2 ranges from good to fantastic and IMO, it's all worth picking up.

There's a lot of people, myself included, that would be happy to help with recommendations for gameplay classes in both ME1 and ME2, each in their respective threads in the 360 forum.

If she wants to play Mass Effect and Fable, start her on Mass Effect and Fable. See how she likes them. Once she can tell you what she does and doesn't like about those games, you can determine what the next step is. Since she showed interest in those games, I don't know why people would say "Then get her a 3DS" or "Get her Cooking Mama," unless those were jokes. Owning a vagina doesn't prevent anyone from enjoying RPGs. In fact, some of the biggest RPG fans out there are gyno-Americans.
