I've recently found a iPhone 4 for Verizon. The mobile service has been deactivated. I called a random number and it went to Verizon saying "Number is not active... Contact your Verizon dealer..."

If I were to trade it to Gamestop, would they take it? I know that phones that are reported lost or stolen have a blacklisted IMEI numbers...

What are the chances that Gamestop would get me some monies for this?

Cheers,
Chris

So lemme get this straight...

You found someone elses' phone on the ground(an iPhone no less:shock:) and instead of turning it into your local police precinct in the event the owner reported it lost/stolen you're here asking if Gamestop will give you money/credit for it?

If the owner already reported it missing/stolen, then you may very likely get in some serious trouble over trying to trade in something that isn't yours.

I'd say to simply do the right thing and take it to the cops now.

Heh, Thanks for your input, however, I already tried that. I contacted Verizon themselves. Unfortunately, the owners of the account deactivated the number and is no longer their property. I asked Verizon if they would like me to send it back, and they told me to keep it.

I appreciate your honesty and morals, but I'm asking if a trade in is a possibility. I already satisfy my moral hunger from my local priest's sermons.

If there's no number registered on the phone, the OP can't find the real owner. At this point, anyone can just try to claim the thing since there's no real proof of who it actually belongs to. It's like turning in a bag of money.

oh, hey. that was mine. please send it back to me. thanks.

:D

can you ask verizon about the imei number? if it is blacklisted i'd say sell it on ebay. you could still get some decent coin for it

Shouldn't there be a list of numbers stored in the phone? Maybe the person's home number, or something labeled Mom, Dad, etc?

I know the phone I got, used, had the previous owners stuff still in there that he forgot to delete.

If you're gonna keep it, sell it on amazon or eBay. I sold my 4 for $335 on AZ and got a 4s upgrade and still had $100 leftover ;)
