Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PC-DL) + $10 credit at Amazon

Activision has delayed Call of Duty: Elite on the PC, calling the platform "insecure".

Beachhead Studio head Chacko Sonny told Activision's Dan Amrich on the One of Swords blog that the decision was taken to ensure a safe PC environment.

"We're as committed as ever to the PC, but the need to ensure a safe PC environment is greater than ever," he said. "It's really extensive. We need more time to get there, so Elite on PC will not launch on Day 1.

"We're working our butts off to make it happen, but we won't release it until we know that PC gamers can enjoy Elite as it's meant to be.

"The issue here is that the PC is an insecure platform. Without a central, trusted resource for stats, a lot of our competition features become unfair. We can't give away prizes when people can easily cheat their stats. Leaderboards are less fun when a lot of the users are there unfairly."

Call of Duty: Elite is the new Activision service that expands the multiplayer side of the gargantuan first-person shooter series.

Elite, developed by newly formed studio Beachhead, has been built from the ground up over the past two years to change how players "do" multiplayer.

It launches with MW3 this November on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Hardened Edition of the game comes with a year's premium membership to Elite, but there is no PC version of the Hardened Edition available to preorder.

Product director Noah Heller confirmed that Elite on PC will be free for everyone.

"Not being able to trust stats is a big problem for our design," he said. "Because of this, we had to re-imagine Elite for PC. Elite for PC will be about access to your own stats, or those of your friends. Basically establishing a circle of trust. And because it will have some reduced functionality, it will be free for everyone.

"PC guys will be able to purchase their DLC content a la carte, just like it has worked before."

So, when will Elite launch on PC?

"We're working on it, but it is not going to come out until we've done a lot more work," Sonny said. "At this point I need to say, 'It will be ready when it is ready.' I'm a PC gamer myself and I don't want to ship something to this community that doesn't have the polish that they deserve."

since amazon isnt offering any promo credit for the ps3 or 360 versions, then you should BOYCOTT this game which is just a copy paste Madden Warfare 2.5.

You should post the pic when we boycotted L4D2. People actually stuck to that one at launch (including me and to this day).

That's what you get for buying on 360? PC had few hiccups and was actually one of the best online game launches I've seen. I must hand it to EA for generally smooth releases. Also, I've encountered zero hackers or cheating of any kind to date with 27 hours played. Tell me how that compares to MW LOL.
 
Looks like Amazon is starting a new trend; hold out on the future credits till the last possible second.

They did it with BF3, I'm hoping they do it again with MW3 so I can get release date delivery & then cancel my Newegg order.

Oh, you're one of those huh...LMAO. I'd rather spend $150 on a console than almost $1k on a rig used for gaming. And the 2 arguments I hear the most for PC gaming is graphics (I agree with that one) and "aiming/mouse & keyboard" related, which is retarded. People who say that are basically telling everyone "I'm so used to playing with a mouse/keyboard & I don't have the skill to use/learn a controller".

PC's are for work and porn.

I'd rather have a system that lasts for 5+ years than spend $1k on broken 360s. I can play that game too. ;)

I've had the same Elite since it was released, no problems ever. Saving over $800 is brutal, I know lol ;););).
 
i understand whats going on here. i did get BF3 with that awesome 20 credit. looks like Electronic Arts paid off Amazon to offer promo credit for buying BF3 but NO credit for MW3. EA is a genius. hopefully the Lack of promo credit for MW3 will Impact sales on Amazon. Black Ops had 20 credit, MW3 has $0. BF3 gives 20 back while MW3 gives NOTHING back. hmmm......which is a better Deal for a CAG.......BF3 Obviously. Electronic Arts has just 1uped Activision.

I have several steamworks games purchased there and have had exactly zero problems ;)

Please just stop. I shouldn't buy a game with my own money just because there isn't any credit for doing so? Thanks but I will decide what I will or will not buy.
