Gifting apps to yourself (no Wi-Fi)

I tried to gift a few games to myself (different email than my Apple ID) because they went on sale and I couldn't get to Wi-Fi hotspot for a few days. However, when I try to redeem these purchases, I get the "unknown error occurred (5002)" and I can't redeem these gift apps. I have contacted Apple, but I am impatient and won't to fix this issue as soon as I can.

Has anyone seen this? Am I gifting iPhone apps to myself the wrong way?

Any help on this would be appreciated.
