Newegg DS games sale (lots of square enix titles)

Valkyrie Profile:CoP is a great game and underrated in my opinion. It's not as elaborate as Tactics RPGS like FFT or Tactics Ogre but it's definitely worth the $10

VP:CotP is my fave in the VP series, but it gave me fits because it is HARD. But once I was able to wrap my head around the battle system, it clicked, and I stomped that game into oblivion. $10 = steal. Buy it!

This has been going on since last week. I picked up DQ VI and IX, but they've been swamped with shipments and I'm still waiting for my order.

Also, Valkyrie Profile: CoP used to be $10 at Walmart too. It's actually pretty good.

Same I ordered 2 diff dragon quest, didn't get it yet. No big deal as it was their free ship option
No love for Giana Sisters?
Did this get a US release or did Newegg somehow secure copies of the European version? The only listing on Amazon is for the EU version, so this is kind of weird. I'll probably pick this up as it's one of the good EU-only DS games I've never been able to play.

It got a US release this year. Newegg is selling the US version.

Interesting. I picked up DQVI during NewEgg's BF stuff, and it showed up yesterday (picked free shipping.) I don't think I'm near a distribution center, so maybe it is just completely random when it comes to BF orders?

Holy shit, I had no idea that Giana Sisters finally got a US release! I spent so much time looking for this damn game and couldn't find a copy for less than $50. I'm definitely picking this up.

I want Valkyrie Profile, but I'll just wait for it to go on sale at BigLots again. Just recently, they had it for $5.

Man, so many unplayed DS games... I kinda want to pick up Re:Coded but its reviewed worse than 358/2 Days (a game which I found below mediocre).

Very, very bought, then. It must have had a pretty limited release, apparently. I can't find it on Amazon or Gamestop and the only copies on ebay are EU copies that are selling for a pretty high price.
So which DQ should I get out of this offer? I never played any of the series.
DQ IX is the best game in the series BY FAR, and is also one of the best DS titles to date.
So which DQ should I get out of this offer? I never played any of the series.
If you haven't played any of the Dragon Quest games, I would suggest starting with IX, which (I think) was more geared towards people unfamiliar with the series.

The others are great classics, but rely heavily on nostalgia for the old games.

I went ahead and picked up DQ 6 for $15. I probably shouldnt have, but that is a pretty good price. Not like I'll get around to it though.

I definitely don't need more games but I did pick up Kingdom hearts 365 days because I don't have it yet. Picked up DQ VI earlier, sure beats paying full price for these games.

hmmm never knew DS games were still this expensive, been wondering about chrono trigger but i'll probably never get to it with my massive backlog

Damn, another good deal on Dragon Quest VI. I bought it right when it came out at full price because i was afraid it would disappear the way DQ V, ended up getting DQ V when it reappeared for $20.
Considering Rhythm Heaven though, its supposedly a solid game
Got them all already ...bummer no other older Final Fantasy DS :(
Final Fantasy 4 shows up on sale at Amazon all the time. I was disappointed they never got around to redoing FF5 and FF6 for DS, but I was at least able to find a copy of FF6 Advance.

In for DQ VI (the only one I don't have) and Giana Sisters (heard good things). Awesome deals, thanks OP.

Giana Sisters has to be an import, since a US version was never released. Does anyone know if the 3DS will play non-US DS games?
No love for Giana Sisters?
Actually, I want to thank you for posting this. It was this comment that made me actually take a look at the sale in the first place. I've come close to importing this game several times. At $15, it is most definitely the gem of this sale as far as I'm concerned.

The 3DS will play non-US DS games (but not DSi-only or 3DS games) because DS games were never region-locked.

However, there definitely has been a US Giana Sisters release. It was published by Destineer and released in February. You can even buy it at Target.

Expensive, do you want to pay $40 for 3DS games, that in reality are not much better, and some are probably worse, than these?

These games are the cream of the crop for DS games, other than the mario games, which I personally do not like but a lot of other people like them.

I'd much rather play Chrono Trigger or Dragon Quest than shell out $40 for Super Mario 3DS that everyone is raving about...

Most retailers that I have been to still sell these games for their full prices, they were probably at full price before BF hit, though I didn't check. I can't really see these getting much lower than 14.99 each for brand new sealed copies.

How does the quality/price of these games make Mario 3D Land any less fun?

Also, if you're going to compare prices, then shouldn't you at least compare sale prices to other sale prices? Comparing a sale price to another system's MSRP isn't exactly fair. The only 3DS game I've paid more than $25 for is Devil Survivor Overclocked, and that's just because I missed out on the sale Amazon had when they burned through all of their stock.

Enjoyed Giana Sisters. It's really... lightweight, I would say, but it manages to be entertaining in ways NSMB DS failed to be, in my opinion.

LOL you'd think i ever pay retail for a game? i always have set prices for games that i have an interest in, super mario 3ds will probably be a buy for me if it hits $15 sometime in the future, as for DS games I always look for a steal since they are pretty much old platform games. I never really dished out more than $15 for a handheld game unless i absolutely had to play it which is very rare and chances are i probably wont be able to play it.
I loved, loved, loved DQ IV but couldn't get through DQV (I'm about 20 hours into DQV so far). Would I like DQ VI?
That's interesting because I've heard the opposite, that DQ V is much better than IV. Did you play IV and then play V right after it, maybe you were RPG'ed out?

I played IV first then V, yes. I think there was about a 2 year gap. I did, however, spend 150+ hours playing Dragon Quest Monsters Joker in between those games, so maybe that's where the feeling game from. Still, for what it's worth, I liked IV because of the localization and overall gameplay. Monster raising in V was neat but for some reason I didn't enjoy it mixed in with DQ. I also haven't gotten into any of the Pokemon games (which I know I shouldn't compare V to of course). Odd because I just could not get enough of Joker to save my life. I had to just synthesize the best monster I could (near top-tier I believe, maybe a level below some of the best), finish the game (and most of the post-game content) and put the Joker cart away in the back of a drawer. It was seriously making me lose sleep because I'd dream about battles, etc. :)

EDIT: Eh, maybe I'll give V another go. I was swamped with projects at work at the time so my full focus wasn't anywhere near finishing it like I do most other games.

Why shouldn't they? They are actually very fun games. It is the same story every time, but JRPG stories don't vary much as it is. What matters is that the gameplay is solid and they're very easy to pick up and play for a few minutes (or a couple of hours).
