Best Buy gift cards for cancelled items! (Bioshock 2 CE, etc)

I just checked my email to find a message from Best Buy saying that they would issue me a gift card for the entire purchase price of the items they cancelled! If any of you held out and didn't cancel your backordered items, check your mailbox!

Just got the email for cancelled Civ 5 CE and Bioshock 2 CE. Best Buy was getting a lot of flak for cancelling orders. Nice of them to offer this.
 
This doesn't seem fair, especially to those who didn't pay with BB gift cards. They have to give you your money back for a canceled order anyway, why is everyone happy that they're only getting gift cards??

Yup, first not getting people their items and now offering the price of the gifts so you can't buy them again.

Because as everyone knows that Infamous CE that was cancelled gets you 24.95 as a gift card and then when you go to buy it again it'll be 75 bucks.

But yeah, 35 dollar gift card is totally worth not having the Batman Collector's edition

because this is on top of the refund genius.....i didnt even order anything and i figured this out

I got a couple of emails as well one worth $5 and one worth $10. Best buy can't be beat and I will be happily buying more from them in the future.

And the items people were buying were more then TWICE what they were offered as.

These weren't 50% off sales, they were 80% and more

The money you originally spent PLUS the money you just got back in a gift card still wont pay for the item you had cancelled.

I had a better experience with Bestbuy this year than Amazon.

No YOU don't understand. We're getting free gift cards...lost opportunity or not - they're free. Thinking of ordering more backordered stuff..
 
After all of my ridiculous troubles with Best Buy this year, even getting a random $6 credit (Vanquish) definitely took some of the edge off. Thanks Best Buy!

Oh I see, you didn't want anything you ordered, you just wanted to spend money on things and you randomly chose whatever items were in your cart, I understand
 
Just got one for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II CE, $8.00. Funny thing is, the item was out-of-stock when I bought it, but the site still let me place the order. I had no expectations of receiving this order and will probably not use the GC.
 
wow they sent me two emails of 15 each.... wow =D.....30$...what items will get cancelled guys...lets all order something of one item a lot of times :D

Instead of getting your item they're giving you a gift card that's value is much smaller then your item

For some reason you're happy about that
 
I feel bad for BB. First they give us ridiculously good deals that they're obviously losing money on, and now they're losing more money by giving us giftcards too.

Also, hoarders are probably reaping the benefits way more than honest customers.
 
Hmm, I have several orders on backorder but not officially cancelled.

I haven't received any gift card email - in this scenario is there a difference between items on backorder and those cancelled? I can't imagine they would ever ship the items in the future at the prices they were at...

Maybe next year dont get your hopes up so much. Go into it not expecting to get all your items, works out better when some dont arrive.

yes. I only got a gc for officially cancelled items.

when Best Buy canceled the orders, the buyer was not charged for the item

my gamble on the Tiger Woods Move bundle resulted in a $60 giftcard, and to think I was gonna gripe cause my friend saw them in our store the day after my email came that my order was recieved
 
I almost don't want to use the $5 card I'm getting for my canceled Vanquish.

I have heard BB is doing poorly, and I have gotten some really great deals from them lately. Giving everyone gift cards has is going to cost them.

At least most of the gift cards they will be issuing to people on this site is for stuff that has been already greatly discounted.

Also not sure why people are so pissed that they weren't able to get a deal for something marked down 75%+, and are mad at BB giving them free $ to spend at BB.
 
wait am I reading these gift cards right? I just got a couple notifications about them (saying i'll be receiving the giftcard, not the actual gift card) But it didn't specify what the items were. Its hard to know since i got screwed on several.

But if im reading it right its only like 15 bucks of the price of the game that was canceled, and even then ONLY for online purchases. Now considering most of the items aren't even avalible online, what the hell good does a giftcard for money off something i cant even order do?

Am i reading it wrong or is that really how it works?

? I go to the grocery store, i get the groceries available and put them inside my cart. I dont complain if they are sold out of a sale item... Some times i ask for a raincheck.

Wtf? You get your groceries delivered or something?
