get notified when someone quotes you

How can i do

1) get a nice little flash-like pop-up to notify me when someone quotes me?? Like how they do on slickdeals.

2) get notified about replies for a thread in general??

I can't find it in the settings page.

2. Subscribe to the thread, then get email notifications for it.
