I am beyond in for Ides of March and 50/50 (when it comes out on 1/24) for $12.99 each.

50/50 is amazing. Haven't seen Ides of March.
its good as well
I guess I didn't mind Ides of March but I wasn't blown away by it or anything. I myself would recommend renting it first but the flip side too is that some people out there went complete gaga for this film. For $12, I guess it's not a bad watch - just not a lot of re-watch-ability IMHO.

What are the opinions on 50/50? Is that a netflix movie or a day one purchase for $12?

50/50 was a fantastic film, albeit a bit hard to watch personally. A very powerful performance by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. In fact, a very excellent performance from the support cast as well, including everyday stoned-man Seth Rogen. I was moved and its easily one of my top 5 movies of 2011.

Still have to watch Ides of March, but I think I'll just give it a rent first.

Not sure if anyone knows this, but I was watching some interviews on 50/50 when it was coming out and I may get some details a little wrong. The reason Rogen is actually really good in his role is because...it's him. The story is based on the events he and his friend actually went through when his friend got cancer. I am sure they changed things a little, but overall the character he plays is based on him.

I haven't seen it yet, but I am very interested in seeing it. I just found that to a rather cool bit of info.

Boardwalk Empire is cheaper this current (01/08/12 - 01/14/12) week than the week of this ad for next week, by $10. Make sure you get it this week and not next week.

Exactly; it won't be $29.99 (with the Upgrade & Save coupon) for a long while (just look at other HBO shows like the Pacific or True Blood, for example). Awesome first week deal from BB, and the Blu-Ray itself is absolutely stunning.

This isn't technically about this week's ad, but I have a question regarding something else on sale:

During my last BBY visit, I noticed that all three DVD seasons of Veronica Mars are on sale for $9.99 each until 1/28. Can anyone recommend the series at that price? I watched the pilot but I didn't much like the "snarkiness" (the most appropriate word I can think of) or general snide attitude of the characters. I've heard so many good things about it, though, so I might be willing to give it another shot, especially at that low price. Does the show (and with it, the characters) develop better as one progresses through it?

I love Veronica Mars. It gets a bit better into the first season. Seasons 1 and 2 are great. 3 is alright. Definitely worth $30 for the series imo.

I dont understand how do you trade and upgrade? So i just turn in any DVD i have and i will get a coupon for any of the qualifying Blu-Rays?

There's no "qualifying" BDs perse as long as they are over $9.99. Any BD over that price qualifies. The Best Buy ad just highlights a few select movies but everything in the store works.
Don't worry 3D's just a fad.

I don't think so. They're getting better with the technology, and 3D at he is much better than 3D at the theater.

But I digress.

Does anyone know if you can use the trade/upgrade coupon towards 3D blurays too? I may have to get Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2...

Yeah, I saw Ides of March in the theater and honestly was pretty disappointed in it. The characters were just caricatures, not developed nearly well enough. The plot was predictable and kind of trite. I'd say definitely rent it first before buying it and make sure that it's really worth owning to you.

Not in this week's ad:

"BUCKY LARSON: BORN TO BE A STAR" - $17.99 DVD / $22.99 BLU-RAY ($17.99 W/$5.00 U&S COUPON)

i wonder why it wasn't in the ad but than again 50/50 was in there and it shouldn't have been.

Sucks they messed up 50/50. I just hope it's the same price in next weeks ad. They probably missed Bucky Larson because it's up there for one of the worst movies ever made. I have yet to see it, but I'm also a big fan of Swardson so I might be one of the few that likes it.
