I need a set of component cables to hook my PS3 up to an SD TV so that I can play PAL games. Does anybody know of any good third party cables that are relatively inexpensive?

First off I bought my Copy of Assassin's Creed in the UK and brought it home and it played find with my HDTV (HDMI and Component), I don't know why it would not work with a SDTV unless you know of some reason otherwise.
Best Deal for a Ps3 Component Cable w you could get quick I'd assume was Gamestop. they say its used but most of the time (including my own case) its a new box marked down as used. $9.99

You can call you local store to see if they have an official one or of its the gamestop brand which still works fine. Also if its used you get a 7day return policy to make sure they work with your game.

If you want official best your gonna find is $18 new, 14.50 used (unless you get lucky at GameStop and find an official one, you can call ahead to see if they have one)

If you wanna risk it you can also buy these 3rd party cables off amazon for $3.45 + FS

hope this helps!

From what I understand, HDMI or component cables are needed for a NTSC TV to properly display PAL, unless the TV is already set to be able to do so. I was considering a cheapy one like those at Amazon, but was not sure about quality. I am only doing this so I can get a physical copy of Arcana Heart 3.

Then i'd suggest the GameStop preowned so you have 7 days to give it a go and see if they will work. Don't buy em till you get them game in your hands of course (or another PAL game to test out)

I'm not aware of any SDtvs with component connections, the closest I've seen is EDtvs that use them. SDtvs usually have to use composite cables or rf adapters in my experience.

Hello again. I don't know if it's the case for all of the various PS3s (I only have the 60 gb), but I know that mine is able to use the same cables that the PS2 uses. You should be able to save a few bucks by buying PS2 cables as well.

I can vouch for this, the PS2 component cables work with the PS3 as well. I would try to get official Sony component cables rather than cheaper third party cables.. unlike HDMI cables, cheaper component cables may lack the quality that the official ones have.

I got a new set of Monster Cable Component Cables for PS2, which also works with PS3. I can sell it to you for $13 shipped

As far as I know OP all PS3 games that come on Blu-Rays are region free, so you should have no issues playing the game with the standard composite cables. As for finding official component cables, you may want to check out Toys R' Us. I found a bunch of the official composite and component ones there a while ago on clearance.

Unfortunately they may have cleared them out by now, so that may be a YMMV place to get them from.

But if you don't mind a third party component cable, there are ones by Intec on Amazon for $6.

You can use a PC monitor that has an HDMI hookup to play your PS3 on. That's what I did up till Black Friday this past year. Only problem is unless it has internal speakers(which are normally weak on monitors), then you'd have to rig up some way to get sound for the PS3.
