If you're on the fence I suggest at least placing your order since no doubt flippers will make this sell out fast especially on amazon with free shipping and no tax for most

That's what I thought as well - well that and people whose credit authorizations failed and were never addressed. Great for anyone wanting one I suppose, but I doubt this will be rare. I did jump on it as well though. :D

It probably has to be. I canceled my CE on Sunday, so they have that extra one to offer. Others probably did the same. I'm planning to reorder though and worst case it sells itself later for the same price.

My GameStop order yesterday was taking too damn long to process, and this was cheaper anyway thanks to no tax. Thanks OP.

walked right into best buy this morning and picked one right off the shelf. best part is i had the standard edition preordered and in the confusion of canceling it and refunding he somehow still only charged me for the standard edition. so after a $20 reward certificate I only payed $40 plus tax for the collectors edition. Wont hear me complaing lol

It's sealed but not shrinkwrapped. Is this normal?

Yes. It comes sealed but no shrink wrap. Just like ME2 was.

I don't believe that you would be able to get a replacement since this is some sort of rare CE.

Also I'm very disappointed to hear that Amazon has become super cheap when it comes to packing these expensive items while cheap items get the same or better packaging.

basically a crease in the top and bottom and the flimsy box next to the steelbook.

I think Amazon's packaging is basically up to whoever picks the item. Sometimes I get tiny items in a huge box. (That's not what she said.) The person who did mine apparently thought it'd be ok to use the fold up envelope type box that barely is bigger than the game box. It's the one that basically isn't even a box. So of course, it got squashed in transit.

Chatted with Amazon and the guy said basically he had to wait for it to come back into stock and then he'd create a replacement order for me. When told that it was a limited item, he said he was sure they'd get more in stock.

Amazon is usually great by me. Hope they find a cancelled order and package it right this time.

edit: weird, when I first posted, this thread didn't say PS3 right? I have the 360 version.

Hopefully mine isn't packaged like that. I read on amazon a bunch of peoples had theirs come in crappy packaging that made their copy have scratches and dents. That's a bunch of crap. When I get stuff, I usually get them in big boxes with lots and lots of their bubble mailer.

And you're correct, it just said ME CE at amazon. It got changed since 360 got sold out.

The thing is, amazon needs to teach their warehouse employees that there's a difference between a hardcover book and a new release of a collectors edition. Maybe indicate on the packing slip to use extra care with some items.

Normally it doesn't matter cause they'll just send you a replacement. But in this case the item is hard to find. Or maybe Amazon knows it's not.
 
Not just the 360 cases. I just had to take my wife's disc 2 out of her pc CE case, and it was a bitch.

Also, I got my 360 CE and her PC CE in from amazon today in perfect condition, in boxes. Wooo.
 
Removing those discs are a pain because they cascade them on top of each other. So you have to remove disc 1 before getting to disc 2. And if you need to put back disc 2, you have to do it reverse. Personally, I'd be scared of scratching up disc 1 because it is right on top of disc 2.
