I'll be getting this. I never really play PC games(My computer sucks) so im glad this is dropping on the 360...looks like its going to be a great game and i've heard nothing but good things about it.

Day one and I'll probably preorder an edition of some sort. I very rarely preorder anything so I'm hoping this one justifies the effort.

I've heard good things about it on PC, but what exactly is it that draws people in? Seems like a deep RPG with a little bit of Mass Effect and Fable thrown in, but higher quality.

Mass Effect and Fable has nothing on this. Everybody should buy it and will love it. It's just really a high quality action rpg with great graphics, gameplay and story. From a small developer that cares about the product it puts out and it's customer base.

It's simply a dark fantasy RPG. Not lighthearted Tolkien bullshit, but simply dark and gritty. Excellent combat, excellent story telling, and a very long game at that, as well. Believable politics and characters and it's all by a small, dedicated studio.

It also had the best graphics of 2011 and the 360 version looks stunning as well. A small studio optimized the Xbox 360 to have these amazing graphics 6 years into its life and that says alot.

Hmm, alright. Sounds worth buying, then. I just wish Amazon had a better preorder bonus. I only meant Mass Effect and Fable as gameplay-, and dialogue-relevant. I know it has more than its fair share of nudity, too.
Oh, this games sex scenes shame Mass Effect, lol.
Since I'm sure you've either extensively researched, or have played it, what can you tell me about the leveling/skill tree(s), and the loot?

Thankye. :)

Infamy, do you really need to hide the entire OP behind spoiler tags? It might not hurt to show a little bit to everybody to increase the likelihood that they'll see it.

Anyway, awesome series. Anyone who hasn't played the first Witcher and would like an introduction to its world should check out the book The Last Wish. It's a surprisingly excellent collection of short stories about Geralt (the Witcher). The second English language book, Blood of Elves, is far less entertaining.

I played the Witcher 1 on PC, and it was pretty good, but I'm gonna wait to see how well they ported it to Xbox 360 before buying it.

I'm hyped. Really glad they gave this a 360 release. Hopefully, the transition from PC to 360 is smooth. It would be disappointing if this wound up a poor port, like FEAR Files.

Yeah I noticed they were giving the PC users the extra content we're getting in the Xbox port for free which is pretty cool.

Works similar to other WRPGs in which you go up levels and unlock skills of your choice within the skill tree. IIRC, there's swordsmanship, magic and alchemy, and you need to choose your role ahead of time because you can't max everything to become God like other rpgs.

You can loot gold and maybe other things from people, and mats from monsters, but the inventory management in the vanilla game pissed me off. I believe they're changing this with this enhanced edition but I purposely haven't read up on it because I want to experience it first hand.

I'm not a fan of sloppy official topics, and 6-7 videos in the OP would look bloated. I figure that all one has to do is click if they're interested, it's not a big difference. Maybe I'll unspoiler the intro and have that out as it would still look neat that way and it should catch people's attention.

Gotcha. Thank you. Kind of difficult to pick these kinds of details out of reviews when everyone's so excited by the game itself.

Infamy, how is the difficulty? I heard it can be a pretty hard game. How bad are we talking here? Not that I mind...I would prefer it like that...just wondering.

It's not Dark Souls hard, but it's reminiscent of it IMO (then again 'Souls games are not as hard are they are memorization driven, at least in my opinion).

You need to make use of all your skills early on, i.e you can't spam A and win. There is no level scaling like there is in Skyrim (which was the worst part about Skyrim).

Sorry, I'm half asleep lol so I hope I'm not saying things backwards.

It's also worth noting that there are multiple difficulty levels, with an Achievement for playing on Maniac difficulty. So if you want an easier time, just pick a lower difficulty. Plus the 360 version has improved combat tutorials, I think.

Yeah, I think I also read something about there being a stash and an arena in the 360 version but I didn't want to spoil it for myself. :p

Does anyone know if this is a limited release? I don't want to buy it at launch but I feel like it'll be hard to find in 6 months.

so im curious guys. is the big dark edition only available on the official website? thats the only place ive seen it. amazon only has the enhanced edition for 360

It's just difficult when you first start out and don't know what the hell you're doing. But once you get into it, it's really quite easy and fun to play. You can play the tutorial/arena before you start the actual game up to mess around with combat and learn the basic. But the difficulty in the beginning really just comes from lack of skills early on.

I played it with a xbox controller on the PC and everything worked fine. So I wouldn't worry about them having to transition controls to the Xbox.

GameStop has the special edition; I think it's exclusive to them in the US.

Yeah I have been following this a while, even when they were going to come out with the Witcher for 360, and made my own forum thread on another site. I can't wait, one of my most anticipated titles of this year, heard great things from the PC community.

after a long hard thought process ive decided to not get the Dark Edition. Between this CE and the Max Payne 3 CE i'll save a total $80 just by getting the standard editions not to mention i'll save even more money by using amazon credit.

also i bought the witcher 1 back in the day for $10 but the combat was hard for me to understand. i think i'll go back and revisit to see if i can make any sense of it. the more vids i watch for this game the more i want it. im really happy this is coming to the 360 because my PC can not handle witcher 2.

I'm beyond excited for this. I tried to get the first Witcher for $5 at Amazon but my PC can't run it.

Walmart still has the Dark Edition for preorder (with $10 egiftcard) if anyone's looking for it.

The more videos and reading up about this game that I do...it makes me that much more exicted.

Its great to see all the extra content there adding to the game with the cutscenes and missions. Also the care there taking to make sure this isn't a half ass port...this might end up being game of the year for me.

Funny how a big group from the Mass Effect thread are in on this one too. I was on the fence but I think I'm going with this instead of Amalur: Reckoning. Now I just have to decide if I really need the dark Ed. The enhanced is a pretty darn nice package in itself.

I think you're making the right choice. Amalur is going to get some sort of "Ultimate" version at some point while CD Projekt has been pretty adamant that this is the full "enhanced" version of Witcher 2. Just grab Amalur around the holidays when it's down to $40 or less for the game + all the expansions.

It seems like the Witcher is more in the BioWare vein of a character-focused, story-driven RPG than a Amalur or Bethesda type of open-world non-linear RPG. Is that about right, people who've played it?

I wonder how much any DLC for this game will be since MS won't let it be free on XBox? Maybe they'll make everything a buck like the devs of Bastion did.

I have the PC versions of 1 and 2 and started 1, but seeing this kinda makes me want to just go into 2 now before I do something stupid like buy the 360 version of 2.

Hopefully this is the case. I just could not get into Skyrim and not for a lack of trying. Same for Fallout 3. I respect Bethesda and the type of game they put out, I just have come to the realization that it's not for me. Now I'm debating if I should order this from TRU for $45 or pick it up after I'm satisfied and done with ME3 (for the time being) and I wrap up AC: Revelations. I'm so frickin indecisive!

Yeah, same for me. I got through Fallout 3 with some effort but I couldn't stand Oblivion. Just not for me.

Is the $45 the lowest price for the anywhere?

So apparently the game got an 8.5 from OXM. People on Gamefaqs are (predictably) pitching a fit about it because they're fucking babies and somehow an 8.5 is significantly different from a 9.0 to them.

I read the oxm article and it is very complimentary. Not sure what they are whining about. If anything, we should be complaining that oxm gave mass effect 3 a paltry 9.5 ;)
