Yesterday, I went to a mini-mart at a Shell gas station that had 32 oz. fountain drinks for 99 cents. I filled the cup with Mountain Dew and walked over to the clerk to pay. The clerk told me it was on the house. I was surprised. I thanked him and left.

Free soda... that was pretty cool. Made my day. I just hope it wasn't poisoned or anything.

Has anyone had something similar happen to them?

I'm pretty sure I posted this in the wrong folder. Sorry about that!
Mods, can you move this to the right place? Thanks.

I went shopping one day. I gave the cashier $20 and she gave me $25 as my change. She thought she had given me $15.

I get free and greatly reduced price soda's all the time at my local shell gas stations. The employees in those places are much more relaxed than at 7eleven and AM-PM

i went to astro world 2 days ago on a school field trip and v could have all the free drinks, burgers, and chips v wanted.

I got free food for my girlfriend and me at Applebee's cuz they took a bit too long to cook it. Dessert too.

That happened to me too, the girl was whining about having to study math because it would have no practical application as a preist, which she was majoring in.

Oh well...

Adversely, I was at subway and the register was broken, and I gave the guy $20 expecting $8.76 in change, but this guy was so stupid he could not grasp this concept. After 20 minutes I walked away without my change.

And before you ask, he WAS the manager.

I got a free Sierra Mist in Penn Station on April Fools Day.

Also when Pepsi Blue and Pepsi Vanilla came out, they gave out free coupons for 1 bottle on the streets of NYC. I collected like 20 coupons of each, but had to throw out the Pepsi Blue ones cuz that stuff tasted like ass sweat

depending on who im talking to and what kind of product, ive gotten lots o things for free. Ranging from haircuts to magazines. :)

I got a free flight from Northwest because they overbooked the flight I was supposed to be on. The best part was that they put me on a Delta flight instead and it got to DC before the first flight wouldve and flew into National instead of Dulles which was much closer to my final destination anyway.

To combine the past couple replies: I got a coupon at TravelCom for $5 worth of extras on a Song Flight (movies, games, food or drinks) which I could use for a soda...

if you had the opportunity to give it back and didn't then that's not very cool.

I went to the gas station to get a paper for $1.75, but instead the cashier told me to take a 20oz. soda and you'd get both for 95 cents. So I got a cheaper paper and a free soda. Very nice.

I forgot.
I also got bumped up to First Class when my plane flight to Chicago was delayed. And my mom got her change back plus an extra 100 bucks when she went shopping once... she gave it back though. Tricky, you know that when their register comes up short then they have to pay for it right? Doesn't that seem a bit... unethical?

Which retail store is that?

I've worked at 4 or 5 of them, and I've NEVER heard of cashiers having to pay for the lost money out of their own pocket. They're allowed up to 10 dollars I think in lost money, and most of the ones I worked in operated on a three strikes rule, meaning the first two times you lost money it's ok but the third time you're automatically fired.

Except for when it was a large amount, like this girl accidentally lost over 300 bucks, and was fired on the spot.

i got a free XBOX LIVE starter kit when i went into CC and asked if i could cancel my online order and buy it then and there. After a few minutes of punching buttons on the comp she rang me up for $0.00. I went home and saw that they had shiped it out before she could cancel it. All in all i paid $50 plus tax for 2 :)

When my family went to NYC for Christmas 2002, my brothers and I went shopping on the streets of Manhattan because my brother was looking for a really cheap beanie. When he got it, it cost $4 and he payed with a $20. She accidentally gave my brother change for $100 and we didn't notice until we were about to buy something else about 10 minutes later. When we went back to give them their change back they were gone. I guess the cops had them move or something.

i remember i went to jack in the box, i paid for my then when i went to tie my shoes, i found 5 bucks. i got a free meal
