I posted my thought in the other thread, sorry for people losing their jobs but I never liked the store so makes no difference to me.

a huge shame for all those who are losing jobs. all this means now is I'll have to start preordering stuff online rather than going to the shop on the day!

that said, the stores will remain open for a while so definitely worth trying to nab some bargains, last minute style!

There's two stores in Hull, on in each of the large shopping centres.

The one nearest my office (Princes Quay) shut on Tuesday. I'll check the other (St. Stephens) at lunch, I imagine it's also shut.
another one bites the dust
though, not good for retail price competition ...
Isn't Europe anti-monopoly?

Heard their store rent loan is due to run out on Sunday (not sure if thats true). So may mean things are cheaper over the weekend or from Monday. But does not look like a lot of stock left at all in most stores

Update: the "other" store in Hull is still open, and some titles have markdowns but there's nothing major.

No fire sale as yet, not Oop Norf anyways.

From what I read earlier in the week some of the stores outside the UK will remain open on a "survive on your own" basis, I wonder what that means for us in Ireland whether they'll regard this as a UK store on this occasion or not. Guess I might pop in at the weekend and see what's going on.

Just spent my last game reward points before they close. Picked up 400 MS points and Crackdown 2 for £4 which isn't bad. It's funny while I was in-store I overhear the guy working trying to offer reward points - ha not much point people signing up now.

The website is now down for "maintenance" and the administrators (MJA Jervis and SD Maddison) are currently reviewing orders placed. Also, several stores have begun closing.

Milton Keynes has 3 stores under the shopping center. 2 GAME and 1 Gamestation, as of now 1 GAME store has shut.

I hated GAME for their business practises. I wanted to see them compete with the super markets and online retailers but they always charged more than everyone else. If there was any competition they would just buy them up. While Gamestation still operated under that name, it was identical for prices whereas Gamestation were very competitive on prices (especially trade-ins) before GAME took them over. I'm surprised they weren't inspected by the EU but I guess you actually have to be making money for that to happen.

The gamestation in Wigan has shut down but game is still open. I went to the gamestation in Chorley as I still have £20 reward points to spend. They wouldn't accept it as they have gone into administration. Hopefully I can use it online.

of course it is (as it should)
sorry, but cannot grasp your comment...

I ordered something from GAME.co.uk 8 days ago and still nothing has arrived... it was marked as shipped the day after I placed the order. I have never ordered from there before so I wondered if their posting is a little slow or what?

I wouldn't count on getting it to be honest. I ordered a headset from them around 2 weeks before they took the site down and then was told around a week after I ordered it that they cancelled it and they didn't give me any reason for it.

I contacted them about it and they told me it was out of stock, even though I ordered it at 9AM that morning and even at night in the same day it was still in stock, AND at the weekend (since I had the item on my stock-update list) I got an email saying they had more in. They told me later it was a "glitch in the system" that it was listed as in-stock but yeah, I'm not accepting that excuse. I never ordered with them before either but have dealt with them and their customer service enough times to be sick of them.

MCV posted late this evening something to do with the GAME situation, possibly someone has bailed them out or something? Basically said a report would be up tomorrow/today (Sunday) with more information. They've had great coverage thusfar so would recommend finding them on Twitter or going to their website.

Also: I've ordered stuff from GAME before and it's never been a hassle free experience, my favourite however of all time...

Ordered a Xbox WI-FI adapter for collect in store thinking I could walk into town and grab it and save myself some cash (£42 online, £60 in store). Got to town to find out it doesn't work like that, that the company sends the item to the store (even though they obviously had it in) and would inform when delivered. Waited a week, no word, thought they were taking the piss. Went into the store and asked about it, said it came days ago BUT they couldn't give it to me without a print out of an email I hadn't received to say it had been received by the store. After giving 2 forms of ID (student card/driving license) and telling the manager what was in the package (WHICH HE OPENED UP TO CHECK) he finally gave it to me. What a load of rubbish I thought.

Good luck anyone who ordered any of their cheap stuff, I stayed away for this exact reason. Just glad I didn't get wolled on my poings/reward cards/trade in card.

I will wait out until monday then will contact them about my order. They had no problem taking the money from my account straight away though.

if the private group that purchased them are like the ones over here is the usa. They will rip all the profits out of it then sell off its scraps. I have seen it so many times in the usa that its not even funny. I hope they are not like that in europe but greed seems to rule the world these days.

My game arrived this morning, it was delivered to a house down the road 4 days ago, so I guess it was sent back or the guy just dropped it here personally.
