I was wondering what serious game projects I could help fund via kickstarter and (unless my searching skills suck in which case this thread can get deleted =P) I couldn't find a consolidated place that had the serious game kickstarter projects still in progress all in one place so I'll list the one's I know about here and if anyone else wants to contribute in any way or projects I have missed that would be appreciated:

Active gaming Kickstarter projects:
Leisure Suit Larry Remake!:
This one is just pure awesome
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...rry-come-again

The Dead Linger: The Dead Linger is a first-person zombie survival sandbox in which you can venture into a vast, undead world, surviving and exploring in whatever way suits you best. (For pledging $10 you get a copy of detour, for pledging $25 you get a copy of Detour and The Dead Linger when it's released.)

Boot Hill Heroes: Heavily influenced by Earthbound, set in the wild west. This needs to happen!! PC & XBox Live Indie Games!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-with-1-4-play

Shadowrun Returns: Never actually played any of the Shadowrun games so I don't know to much about it, but I know alot of people are excited about it.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/486250632/republique-by-camouflaj-logan

Semi game kickstarter related :):
Turrican Soundtrack Anthology:
Three CD box set of newly-recorded Turrican tracks, direct from the composer.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...hris-huelsbeck

Can no longer contribute:
Double Fine Adventure
: Adventure game
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/66710809/double-fine-adventure

Wasteland 2:
Alot of the guys that worked on Wasteland and the original Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 will be working on this project really excited about this one:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2

The Banner Saga: If memory serves this game is going to be a 3 chapter trilogy being created by some former Bioware folks and the art style of this one looks really interesting and am really looking forward to this one. (Only thing that kinda sucks is for the $10 pledge only gets you Chapter 1, only if you pledge $50 will you get all 3 chapters.)

I'm pretty sure there's a few I'm missing here so if anyone wants to chime in on projects I'm missing I'd appreciate it
*Thanks to all the people who have contributed so far.

subscribed! Kickstarter is going wild.. what an awesome idea. I love browsing through all the ideas - esp the gaming ones.
Police warfare: Inspired by Battlefield and GTA, it's cops vs. robbers. You play the good guys.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/policewarfare/police-warfare?ref=category
I'm honestly sick of games where you play as 'the good guys'. I wanna play as the Axis power countries in a WWII game instead of the Allies for once.

Oh and  at david69's sig. Though on my browser the item they're shooting/poking at is a red X. What are they shooting at?

That's how it's supposed to look, I think. They're shooting/poking at a broken image ;)

I didn't expect to see Grim Dawn show up there. I've been excited about that since it was first announced quite some time ago, so that's a pledge gladly taken.

Just wanted to mention that The Banner Saga will be ported to XBLA and PSN if they reach $650,000 by April 20th if that interests anyone. They're currently about $40k short of that.
 This right here is why some of us will NOT support these supposedly independent projects.

Police Warfare has been abruptly cancelled. Hope those who put in their chunk of the money that was pledged feel they got their moneys' worth.

Never understood why people were so eager to give away money to someone you don't know. Reminds me of the Nigerian prince scam. 25k for nothing. Sheesh, maybe I should start making a game.
If the project gets cancel you get your money back
What do you get if the project never gets cancelled but also never materializes in any form? A hearty thank you from the people who were developing it? That's nonsense. If I never get anything from something I put money into and expected to get a final product out of, then I expect a refund either way.

This is why I would never donate on there. Legally speaking you're giving money to them to help fund the project. There is no guarantee it will ever materialize. All they have to say is the project failed to launch or even worse ask for more money.
The kickstarter being canceled reeks of a publisher snapping that game up.
Hmm, I dunno. These Kickstarter skeptics -- who took the time to post in the kickstarter thread despite their deep misgivings about Kickstarter -- have me convinced that it was likely a scam.

That is, just another indie prick looking to steal everyone's money. Stupid kickstarter and its stupid "supposedly independent projects," you're all rotten! Bastards!

It is a reason why you do need to be careful about what you do support. You need to be able to feel comfortable that the people doing the Kickstarter can actually do what they claim. Course, if they can't convince people of that, it isn't likely that they will get funded.

For anyone interested in more substantial gaming on iOS devices, Ryan Payton's (Metal Gear Solid 4, Halo: Reach) new studio has a Kickstarter going. $10 gets you a copy of the game on iOS for both the iPhone and the iPad and what they're describing sounds really cool.
Republique Kickstarter

Goals:
 • Design a game and write a story for touch-based devices
 • Create an intense action game without a focus on killing
 • Feature a believable, non-sexualized female lead
 • Explore heavy topics, say something meaningful
 • Push cutting-edge graphics on mobile
Features:
 • 4-6 hour campaign
 • "Stealth Survival" hybrid genre
 • Metroidvania exploration & 3D map mode
 • Branching, gripping, pull-no-punches story
 • Full voiceovers
 • Real-time cinematics
They need $1,000,000 to make the game, but were able to secure $500,000 funding contingent on picking up the other half on Kickstarter.

I so love it when people talk crap about things that they obviously don't understand. Nobody put a single red penny into it. Funding doesn't happen until the cycle ends and the funding goal has been reached. Since the Kickstarter campaign was CANCELLED, nobody's pledge was taken. So, yeah, we got our money's worth - we got nothing and it cost us nothing. Oh noes!

Unfortunately that is not entirely true. They have not secured another 500K. They want 500K in donations to shop the game around to publishers.
and I quote from the Kickstarter page:

"We estimate that République will cost north of $1 million to complete. After months of meetings and due diligence, we believe that we can raise the necessary additional funds to complete République from potential outside investors, but there is some risk that our efforts will be unsuccessful. Before we enter into any financial agreements, we want to prove through Kickstarter that there is a market for a serious AAA mobile game. While we may eventually have to share future profits from the game in order to finance development costs, we have no intention of sacrificing quality, creative control or IP ownership."

What exactly is "north of $1 million"?

I have funded many Kickstarter projects and will continue to do so, but this project reeks of deceit. What I also find interesting is how every gaming website out there is shoving this game above all others down out throats. Even one ran an article on how we have failed gaming by not supporting this game. Why? Well it's probably because Ryan use to be a game journalist.

Seriously first it was 500k to make and IOS game. Then he added PC and Mac without upping the requirements financially to do so. Then he added all these popular voice actors again with no new financial requirements.

I think Kickstarter is important to the industry because it lets people fund projects that publishers would never allow us to have. I will continue to support projects that I believe deserve it. This project in my opinion does not.

"there is some risk that our efforts will be unsuccessful"....I wonder if the same journalists that hyped this game will be there to let us know when people get screwed out of their cash?

Some are questioning some of it and wonder how much they should report on games that might never see the light of day.

Rock Paper Shotgun had a good article about this:

In the meantime, the guys behind Space Quest have entered the Kickstarter fray.
Carmegeddon looks cool especially that offers for pledging a large chunk of cash.
No kidding. I'd love to hit that $7,500 mark with Notch. Bet that will be one hell of a party.
