Even if this is related to Demon's Souls in any official capacity, I think Sony would just muck it up by turning it into a Monster Hunter clone. I mean, it's the most popular franchise in Japan and they lost it to Nintendo, so now they're gonna have to create something new to replace it. They gave Soul Sacrifice a whopping 6-page ad in Famitsu, and there's gonna be a press event solely for this game, so clearly it's an important game that's meant to sell systems in Japan. Monster Hunter clone is the logical conclusion.

But hey, I'd love to be wrong. If it this is just more Demon's Souls but developed by Sony Japan Studio or whatever, I'm in.
 
If it's not developed by From Software, it's not a Demon's Souls game. However, if they are trying to make a game in the same vein as Demon's Souls, I'll try it, but I doubt it'd be as awesome. I agree with Axersia in that it's probably a Monster Hunter type game.
 
Link about trailer added in OP, look like it is a dark souls type game, although one comment says it looks more monster hunter. You decide

If From isn't doing it, good chance it will be hard to capture what DaS and DeS had. From the trailer, it looks like Sony Japan is doing it. Sony Japan tends to do pretty good work though... If it was From, I'd got buy a Vita and pre-order the game. Anyone else, I'll wait and see what the ___ Souls fans have to say about it on launch.

Am I alone in thinking I would rather have From do a ____ Souls Vita game, than having Inafune doing something unrelated? I respect many of Inafune's works, but none have been favourites of mine.

The name of this title really does feel like a cheesy attempt to play on the success of an unrelated series. Maybe I am just bitter that it isn't a portable Dark Souls. I guess I'll judge on release of actual game.
 
"TECHNICALLY" Sony owns the Demon's Souls name. I'm sure we're all familiar with the debacle that was Dark Souls becoming multiplayform. Regardless, if Soul Sacrifice is anywhere near as hardcore as DeS or DaS I think we're in for a treat.
 
I can't begin to describe how excited I am about the POSSIBILITY that this game will be awesome. From this Joystiq article:

The game allows players to cast powerful magic spells, but requires a payment ("Sacrifice") for each. You can sacrifice objects, but the most powerful spells require you to give up parts of your character's body – in an example given, you give up an eye to summon a Gorgon. The player has been enslaved by a sorcerer, and captured in a small cell, when a demonic book appears that allows the player to experience past magical battles – which you can do with up to four players.

This looks fantastic. I hope Capcom will at least show a trailer or something at E3. This looks like Monster Hunter with Demon's Souls' art direction.
