Picked this up from redbox due to all the differ opinions on mp and so far i have to say it is better than uncharted 3 mp imo but it still has issues. The weapon customization is way better and weapons level up through use. the 16 man deathmatch is sick ( teams and solo) and some of the levels are cool.

my main gripe with the games is all the shit you have to go through to throw a grenade.( you hit L1 to pull up the weapon select screen, R1 to select grenades and then hit r2 to throw the grenade).

and there seems to be a glitch in that because theres times ive gt a grenade in my hand but when i hit R2 to throw it your character kinda just stands there and looks at it for a bit and then finally decides to throw it. you will die alot trying to toss grenades.

run jump and roll are all on one button which can be frustrating if youre trying to jump through a window while being shot at and you roll instead.

ive run into alot of online issues ( being kicked from games) that said i like it alot.its a pretty addictive mp experience. kinda curious what some of the rest of you think about mp3 mp especially if youre coming into it from un3.

I only played MP for a little while but I agree that throwing grenades is a pain in the ass. I hope they can fix that somehow. Loadout customizations are indeed better than UC3, but the multiplayer feels a little "slow" to me. I guess I'm used to UC3's sprint. Hopefully I can play some more this weekend and get a better feeling for it. Seems like it would be a nice change of pace from UC3 and BF3.

yeah its slow but i got used to it after a while and i kind of prefer it. the size of the 16 men mp games is impressive gotta give them props for pulling that off but its odd how the mp characters move the same from gta4, rdr and this. character movements needs a tweak as well.

I played a couple rounds yesterday and it seems pretty fun, the singleplayer is def where it's at though on this game.

Everyone seems to be geeking out over the multi but I don't get it yeah it's kinda fun but it just feels off
Takes forever to throw a grenade
Switching weapons is an absolute pain (why not use the DPAD?!!!)
but other than that it's alright
Add me on PSN: Maalik-Ashtaar

yeah ive put more time into the mp and ive noticed some other shit that sucks. if you try to aim through doorways you tend to kind of unnaturally glide from side to side alike youre on ice ive had that happen so bad that my character literally kept sliding on its own out into the open.

back to the grenades almsot half the time i try to pull one up i end up doing a slow mo dive instead of tossing a grenade ( again they should have a dedicated grenade button).

shooting from cover seems stiff too i almost never bother trying too since more times than not someone just comes up amd meles you.

i wanted to ask some of you when doing mp have any of you ran into people whose health quickly rises back up over and over no matter how much you shoot them? i dont know if its some kind of perk or grind or something or if theyre cheating somehow but its fucking annoying.

and im sure they did it for realism sake but it takes too damn long to climb anything and thats if it even lets you.

like most new mp experiences its flawed and needs work and if they fix the issues itll be a hell of a mp experience.

sp is cool too once you get past the first few chapters but wtf is with that blinking cutscene style shit? i know theyre going for a particular look but its just fucking annoying and makes it hard to follow shit.

im also having trouble with the aiming reticule sometimes i can see it on enemies and alot of times i cant i play free aim so its a bit a challenge to try and aim at someone when your aiming dot vanishes on you suddenly.

Quickly tapping L1 makes you throw grenades without having to go through the weapon wheel.

There is a burst that gives you and your surrounding teammates a health boost when used. So I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Overall I have been enjoying the MP more then I thought I would. Gang wars and Large Team Deathmatch match are ridiculously fun when playing with your buddies. I also love the customization. Gameplay Still feels slow to me and kinda stiff at times though.

thanks fpr telling me that im gonna try that now.i dont think its a burst i see people doing it at the very beginning of the game so there's no way they looted enough bodies or killed enough people to do it but ill look it up.L1 works like a charm was able to rack up grenade kills.

So I have been playing MP (3 or 4 matches a night) Overall I enjoy it albeit it being pretty broken. Shotgun kills across the map are VERY prevalent. Its pretty funny when you see the kill cam and the other dude who is not even on your radar geta a shotgun kill on you from the otherside of the map. The bullet time (atleast from what I have seen) is pretty much insta death for anyone who uses it with shotdodge especially because you basically freeze for 2 seconds in a prone position and people can just run up to you and head shot you. Its a fun idea just one that I think needs some patches.

I like it but I like almost any multi-player type game to be honest. Fighters and Third Person Shooters are my favorite though.

There is some things that need to be patched in the game but it is fun for what it is.

Well, the more I play the MP the more I don't like it. I was going to try and get the Platinum but with the clunky controls and slow/stiff gameplay I can't see myself putting in the hours to get to level 50. I know UC3 isn't perfect but this doesn't even come close to it IMO. Single player on the other hand has been amazing. Although the aiming does feel a little off at times.

Good luck with New York Minute Hardcore too. I think that one has to be done in one sitting or you cannot die something SUPER crazy.

This game is absolute trash. It is full of bugs. The voice track cuts out all the time and it has locked up twice during the sp. I don't think it's my PS3 because other games have no issues.

its the game locking up ive had it freeze up on me numerous times during mp to where i hard to shut off the system. glad i red boxed it very few games of late have been worth owning for me. its really a damn shame they keep on releasing broken damn games like this.

I've been killed several times now point blank by someone facing the opposite direction. I want bullets like that.

[quote name='IAmTheCheapestGamer']Try doing 'restore file system' from the PS3's safe mode menu to see if that helps with the freezing issues.

Here's how to get into the safe mode menu.

Actually Id try rebuild database first, which is like a defrag, and much safer. Restore file system forces me to do a format EVERY time I have tried it as if it finds a corrupt file you are screwed. Even after a fresh format( tried for the heck of it since it.never worked for me), it always finds a corrupt file

Not sure why it has never been corrected, but steps 3 and 4 need to be switched in that link. If rebuild dtatbase fails, there is no consequence, just force restart. If restore file system fails, you.lose everything.

Also, why do they run like they just got off a long ride in a saddle? Extremely slow and very awkward. No one with an intact groin muscle would move that slow in a firefight.

I always thought it was the other way around, with Restore File System being like a defrag and the Rebuild Database being the mor extensive option. Thanks for pointing that out.

so if you do restore file system and it fails you lose everything? that totally sucks. i thought i did that before and everytime it says corrupted file found but then it continues through and works out fine so i thought it was all good to go. glad i havent lost everything.

so i should rebuild database like once every few months for like maintenance? thanks

also i love using paranoia level 2 burst. turns friendly fire on the enemy's team and all enemies appear as hostile to eachother for a short bit. wish it were longer lasting tho.

I played all the way through the single player without any issues aside from the subtitles being weird at times.

Not sure what's up with everyone else.

yeah sometimes the audio would cut out on cutscenes. kinda bs cuz unskippable cutscenes in 2012? and they are long ones. seem even longer with background noise but no vocal audio. it says loading but really? lol

yeah im just bout to finish my old school/hardcore run and then im gonna flip it.
beat it on hard first playthrough. good stuff, great set moments.
i love love love the final airport lobby run. with the slow music and girl singing in the background and they give you 5 painkillers so you have tons of life to just go at it one final shootout against everyone in front and above you and diving and shooting. just perfect ending shootout, then tram rail gun sequence, then a final dis armed guy shootout and then final rail sequence. great stuff all n all.

my grrl was like this is like kane and lynch and shitty and just another shooter, but i loved the character driven narrative and the shootouts were great. hardcore isnt as badass cuz i was constantly getting killed (til i had the +1 / +2 painkillers, lol, thankx r*) but bit by bit i got through it. old school is easier than hard/hardcore and i could finally get some melee / executions kills in. anytime i tried that shit on harder difficulties they would take me out in 2 shots as i tried to get close to them. k peace all

just beat oldschool and hardcore and got all clues, golden guns and a kill with every weapon.

hardest part for me by far was the middle of ch11, sun tan oil, stale margaritas, and greed when you are trying to get off the boat. damn took me 20 tries with all those shooters on the docks and then you gotta run up the boat with tons shooting ya and ya play the piano and grab two painkillers, but so many tries.
hotel/police station/airport were all easy compared to panama boat level.

last gun i was missing was super sport on ch 12 only once in the game. sawn off and law were hard too, but i already had those from ch7 and ch 13.

im not even gonna mess with nym or nym hardcore or level 40/50 online. i got all other trophies tho, woot. i was hoping to trade this in to best buy for 22+%60 so 35, but dropped to 20 so 32 and already have it locked in @ amazon for 34. yeps
so bb got it for 65, 20 egift hopefully, so 45, 35 tiv, hopefully it price drops and i make $10, lol. yay

You can skip any cutscene once it's done loading.

It's pretty discussed in the Max Payne 3 360 thread, but I thought I'd post here about the crew since it is cross-platform after all, just to get more views. There is a crew "CAG Payne" set up and looking to add as many CAGs as we can. You can be a member of up to five crews, but while playing you can choose which one you are representing.

Just got this game. Really enjoy the multiplayer, but it's kind of underpopulated. Anybody here play online regularly? I mean it's not hard finding a game but playing with friends is always nice.

PS: Are any of the map packs worth getting?
