There are three kinds of redemption events at Shoppers a year.

Bonus-5-6 times a year
SUPER-ONCE A YEAR
MEGA-ONCE A YEAR

super event:

40,000=$90
80,000=$200

20x This saturday! woot!

What is a Mega-once a year promo? (how much better than the super-once a year?) In other words, is it worth waiting for if you are slow to buy up your SDM points.

Shit, if I bought a Vita at 20x, that is 50,000 points. I think I currently have 38,000, so that would mean I would have $200 in points! I need a couple copies of Diablo III, I don't suppose they sell PC games there? Their website doesn't even list Vita's, thought many locations have them.

I apologize for being so out of the loop here, but can someone please explain this all to me?

I want to buy either a 3DS or a PS Vita in the near future but am undecided on which to get, and I think I ultimately would like to get both.

If I decide to buy a Vita this Saturday (20x) vs. June 9 - 10 (Super), which is better? What is the difference?

Again, sorry for being such a noob here but I rarely if ever buy anything from Shoppers and don't understand any of these promotions.

Super redemption is when you redeem points you have already earned.

So if you buy the Vita on Saturday and get yourself up over 80k points via the 20x promotion, you'd then be able to go back in on super redemption day and cash those points in for $200 off the 3DS.

Thank you for explaining it to me, Jogurt the Yogurt. :)

I went in to Shoppers today and asked around about the 20x deal tomorrow and the upcoming Super Redemption promo in June and found the staff to be quite helpful although they weren't aware of the upcoming Super Redemption promo coming up.

One cashier told me that tomorrow the PS Vita would be worth approximately 50,000 optimum points because of the 20x promotion tomorrow. I'd really like to somehow get up to the 80,000 points tomorrow for the upcoming Super Redemption, but I'm not sure what games to buy or what accessories to get.

I'm also hoping they have a good return policy in case Sony reveals a price-drop for Vita @ E3 this year.

Anyway. Thanks again. I really appreciate you clearing it up for me.

@snowsquirrel, I took a brief glance around today but going off memory only saw Wii/Vita/DS/3DS games, models, and accessories.

No problem, snowsquirrel. I wish I could've provided better news.

I ended up going to Shoppers today and bought the Wi-Fi model of the Vita for $249.99. The staff today weren't very friendly, whereas yesterday the woman was very, very helpful and took time to explain things in detail for me.

I asked if I could return the Vita and re-purchase it because I was 200pts short of the 50,000 mark and they turned me down and I had to spend an extra $20+ just to make up for the 200pts which would've only been a dollar had I returned and re-purchased it. Oh well.

I would have to spend another $150 to reach the 80,000 point mark and I'm not sure it's worth it. The Shoppers' I bought the Vita at didn't have any memory cards. I was thinking of buying the 32GB one and maybe a game or two to reach the $150 but that wasn't possible.

Just want to say thanks to snowsquirrel for the other thread, gamer602, and Jogurt for the information. I wouldn't have known about this promotion otherwise. :)
The real problem is finding something that's worth 250 dollars at SDM. I don't think I've ever spent more than 20 at one time. lol
Well, for me as a homeowner it's really money in the bank, because I don't just need to spend it on games. I can stock up on toiletries, some hygiene stuff, a couple games/gear, maybe some snacks, etc. $250 no problem.

It's a shame Gravity Rush won't be out by then.

Hmm...I need 600 points to get to 40,000 points. Maybe i'll go stock up on a few things and then go grab a couple Vita games i've wanted (Hot shots and Rayman), assuming they carry those ones.

WAIT!

The 18500/$75 event starts on monday!!1
You said you wanted vita games.

2 games will get you to $75
True, but that's what I want to get when I redeem my soon to be 40,000 points. Rather than for the acquisition of more points.

Get 2 games now, 2 games then!

Just phoned 9 Shoppers within about an hour drive radius from my house looking for PS Vita videogames and had very little/no success.

Only games available going off memory were WipeOut, Uncharted, Little Deviants, Resistance, Hot Shots Golf, and ModNation Racers.

Already own Uncharted, Wipeout, and HSG and was hoping one of the stores would have Rayman Origins*, UMvC3, Mortal Kombat, etc.

Have any of you had better success finding PS Vita games at Shoppers?

edit: accidentally typed Rayman Legends, lol. Too much e3 on the brain at the moment..

How many of them sold the actual system? None of the ones close to me seem to.

Bigwig_rah - I have one Shoppers in the town that I live and I was lucky enough that they had the system and a couple games right when the Vita launched. Who knows how often they restock.

Borgtactics - That seems to be the same availability of games I've seen at my shoppers too. It's unfortunate because I was going to use the super redemption on some. But recently I got HSG for $19 at the walmart sale so I felt it would be counter-productive to use my points to get it for $40 at SDM.

Ended up just giving my wife the card and telling her to go nuts and spend it all, maybe buy me a PSN or live points card (to which I found out can't be purchased with points).

@bigwig_rah, going off memory, I think only one said "we have a PS Vita here," (which wasn't what I was asking any of them about anyway lol) most confused it for PS Move... One thought I somehow meant GTA IV... They called it "PS GTA I.V." Or something instead of "GTA 4"... The CSRs seemed to be very, very stupid.

At my closest Shoppers is where I got my PS Vita which I didn't phone because I went in the day before to see which games for Vita they had...which was a resounding none. So of 9 to 10 stores, probably 2 had Vitas, although the closer one, the one where I got mine, doesn't now because I snagged the last model they had.

@strife18, that really sucks. I hadn't even thought of getting a PSN prepaid card, but that makes a lot of sense. Too bad they don't even allow those to be bought with SO points. I think I might just hold off until a rerelease of the 3DS takes place with the second analog stick included in the device, might wait long enough for the Mega Redemption sale even. I'm not really in any rush.
