I think they should just drop the Two Souls part because Beyond is a pretty cool name. The other part is completely unnecessary. Aside from that, the game looked fantastic and me being a huge fan of Heavy Rain has me anticipating this just as much as some of the other big titles coming out.

Looks great, but we know nothing of how it plays. Can we expect more press X to Jason or are they actually stepping it up?
horrible name. Awesome looking game.
the name is great, and sounds quite fitting for the game. The game will just be called "Beyond" by the way, that's how it was addressed at the show. Two souls is just the sub-heading and won't necessarily be used every time the title is said. I'm sure we'll all just call it Beyond here.

JAAAYSON!!!!!!!!

Looks pretty good. Not really blown away though. But if its similar to Heavy Rain it will be great.
I fully expect the same controls as heavy rain and QTE game play thats what QD is known for.
Getting Ellen Page cast is pretty awesome. Hopefully all the voice acting is great.
M rated = big plus.
I just hope the stiff walking/controls are cleaned up.

I don't really care that Ellen Page is involved - would probably prefer a similar no-name actress, but whatever. I will be there Day 1.

Agree with you. I loved Heavy Rain, and will be playing this regardless. However, some gameplay besides just QTEs would be a nice addition.

Sadly, it is a carbon copy of Heavy Rain confirmed from hands-on experiences. They also say that you get to control the spirit and mess with people during downtime. Main character can't die but the story will unfold with many branching paths through quick time successes and failures. My interest in the game went down about 50%.

He does look a little like Paul Giamatti but I swear I've seen the exact face of the guy in Beyond in something in real life.

To answer my own question, I saw some sandbox gameplay from Gamescom today and wow, this game might be in trouble heh. It's more of the same and stuff like being able to shoot people is done via 'press x to jason' once again. Virtually no control is given other than moving around and pressing buttons again. You essentially control the ghost and go around wrecking havoc with a few options, such as choking people to death, possession, or simply manipulating the environment to kill people. The problem here is, you're a ghost. . .so you can't die. . .

I imagine later in the game you'd be pressured with some sort of puzzles or time limits, but at its core it just feels so disconnected in the fact that the girl is in trouble and not you. I liked that HR never pushed the empathy button too far and was more about survival or wanting to unravel the mystery. This game just gives me the impression that it will be repetitive and try to make me care about the girl too much, which I guarantee will run real thin fast.

I don't know, maybe I haven't seen enough but initial impression is not a 'game' I'd care to play.

Beyond will be out on October 8. They've announced the GameStop LE and released two videos with Willem Dafoe:

Additionally, everyone who pre-orders BEYOND at GameStop (or EB games for our Canadian friends) will receive an exclusive 30-minute playable additional scene DLC. We’ll be announcing more details on what that scene entails in the coming months.

And while supplies last, everyone who pre-orders *at GameStop will also receive a free upgrade to the Special Edition of BEYOND, which includes:

 • Exclusive Steelbook Premium Packaging
 • Extensive Behind The Scenes Video Features
 • Soundtrack
 • PS3 Dynamic Theme
 • PSN Avatar Bundle

*Steelbook art not final

Willem Dafoe in Beyond is awesome. I could see a lot more David Cage style games being made if they have big time actors/actresses in them.

Heavy Rain is my favorite game of this generation. I have really high hopes for Beyond.

I'm not a big fan of cutting up scenes for DLC... uhgg. The taxidermist DLC was fun for about 10minutes of gameplay. But it would of been 100x better if that scene was actually put INTO the game as you played it normally.

All I can think of is the BEYOND podcast from IGN. Either way, really looking forward to it. LOVED Heavy Rain, and Ellen Page is awesome! Can't wait till October:)

I'm pretty sure that was just a prototype that was shown at E3 in like 2007, so putting it in the game might have felt odd. I haven't played it though, so maybe I'm completely wrong

Hopefully the DLC is completely new and not stuff cut from the game... but even then, that's a pretty nice upgrade for MSRP.

Can't wait for this, so much replayability with the story choices and now some great acting. I actually hope that steelbook artwork is final, I'd buy that.

I think so, considering the hollywood talent involved. HR came along at the right time for those that wanted to show off their PS3s and had enough word of mouth and advertising that gamers were intrigued to see what it had to offer.

Two Souls will be an easy sell for those that really enjoyed HR and it will bring in some new interest from those looking to see a further melting pot between gaming and movies.

Initially I wasn't all that impressed or hyped for Beyond: Two Souls. And then I started playing Heavy Rain a few days ago and now I can't wait for the game. That box art is crazy awesome, too.

I tried to use the YouTube tags but the video doesn't work for some reason... Never mind, got it.

New trailer is cool, definitely looks like you'll get to explore a lot of diverse areas. I wish we knew more about the gameplay though.

wouldn't this game technically play exactly/similar to heavy rain?

Yeah, I think Cage said it'll be QTR based like HR but I'm hoping that's not all it is... I'm hoping you have more freedom and that your decisions/performance has more of an impact on the game overall.

An entire 35 minute scene was released so you can see how the game works :) Mostly the same as Heavy Rain but the fighting is different

I don't wanna watch any long scenes... don't want any significant portion of the of the story exposed!;)

I'm just hoping there's more substance to the gameplay, instead of any "Press X to Jason" parts.

Ha, I know what you mean; as much as I didn't want to spoil it for myself I couldn't help but watch it

I think this game will be an improvement over Heavy Rain (the controls seem more smooth), but overall the game is an interactive drama which does limit the player.
I don't care if it's basically a movie with X to Jason parts, I WANT IT:applause::bouncy::whee::bouncy::applause:
I KNOW!!! I have mine pre-ordered at GameStop for the steel case + other bonuses; October needs to come faster! \\:D/:bouncy::D This game may overall be one big QTE but it strives to be something different and I'm okay with that; I love how we get to play out and make our own story :)
